Photoshop Elements :: How To Save File As JPEG
Feb 21, 2014
I created a collage in Photoshop Elements 11. I can save the file as a PSE or PDF. How do I save the file as a JPEG in order to send the file to an online print service? Which online print service to use for square prints?

From the start, I wasn't able to save to jpeg without getting a dcm extension (no jpg extension). However, if I saved to Multi-picture Format, I would get the familiar .jpg and everything worked fine for a while. This morning I cannot find a file format in "save as" that results in the .jpg file extension.

I am trying to find a way to save my image file as a jpeg and add -web or -print to the existing file name. This way I can easily see which files are lower resolution for web posting or high resolution for printing.

I am saving work as jpeg into desktop file.... sometimes (not always) when I go to retrieve it ...it shows up as a file that I cannot open, not a normal jpeg. I just tried to copy and paste to show here..then draged into this space and it opened...tried to save it to desk top from here but it is still showing up as a very weid icon that will not open...? In the properties it shows as a jepeg, but the icon is totally different..

First let me say, I have searched through the forum and can't find the answer to what I am looking for. That is probably because I am not really sure what my problem is. As of yesterday I cannot save a file to jpeg (using PS7) I have done a virus scan and all the other regular checks but nothing is showing up.
Basically this is what I am doing. Opening a new document - adding some designs, flattening document and then saving. I choose to save it as a jpeg and everything seems to go fine until I go to open up the saved document. Then there is nothing there. Doesn't seem to matter if it is a new file or an old file. Same problem. (Mode is set to RGB-8bit)
Sometimes if I do a save as and give the file a completely new name a pop-up comes up and says the following: Could not save as "C:...est.jpeg" because that document is currently open. Save using a different name, or close the document and try again. Of course this makes no sense since I am doing a save as and giving the file a new name. Can anyone help me? Or point me in the right direction?

I've worked on a photo that I'd like to save in JPEG format, I've read the replies to previous queries which say to change to 8 bit, when I click on image, 8 bit is greyed out and not accessible. Every time I try to change to JPEG I keep getting an error message. I'm currently evaluating this program, but if I can only use the images I've altered within the program then it's not going to work for me.

I need to save A0 pdf maps (4 - 5mb) as low resolution jpegs so that it can be downloaded from a website at A0 size. The quality needs to be clear enough to identify names and labels but not so good that prospective purchasers of the map just keep the jpeg. Can this be done in elements and if so what settings should I use.

I've been using an old version of Photoshop for awhile (Photoshop Elements 5.0) and it hasn't been buggy until now. I made a photoshop file, saved it, and when I tried to save it as a JPEG I get an "cannot complete request due to a system error" type message. It's a normal file, simple layers, contrast, brushes, etc., but I've tried opening normal JPEG files, drawing on it, and saving, still nothing.

I am changing from PSE8 to PSE12 and realized upon trying 12 today that PSE12 automatically saves my edited pictures in PSD format where PSE8 saved them in JPEG. I don't use the organizer for catalogs, instead opening up folders where I've saved my pictures (e.g. Christmas 2013)and editing the photos I like in PSE8 and then saving them back in that same folder. It may not be the 'right' way, but it works for me. The picture I tried using PSE12 on, saved in the PSD format which isn't viewable in those folders (windows picture viewer is the default). I truly only use PSE for improving pics I like and want to share/email, use as my desktip background, post to Facebook, and print for myself or gifts via uploading to a photo printing service (Mpix, Walmart, etc.) Is there a way to have PSE12 default to saving as JPEG or should I be saving everything as PSD? I get that PSD only works with PS and takes more space, but doesn't cause loss of quality of the pictures the way JPEG does ~ I'm just not sure it's important for the way I use PSE. \

I am now getting a program error when I try to save some images as jpegs. It seems that only a small percentage of my pics are having this issue, and they are the ones I have taken in the past two days. I can go back into my catalog and run any other pics through PSE and save as a jpeg with no problems. But if I try to do any touch ups on any of the pics from yesterday or the day before, i get the error message. I can even go back into lightroom 4 and export any pics from 3 days ago and have no issues saving them as jpegs. I always get the option to save as a jpeg, it just errors out while trying to save. I'm using a somewhat older laptop w/ vista 64 bit.

I am using Photoshop CS6. I am unable to save a 8bit tiff or psd file as a jpeg. When I choose JPEG format .iff is attached to the file. When I open the same file in CS5 it works correctly. Whichever format I attempt to save as it selects the suffix for the format above. I have downloaded again but no change.

I use 'Save as .jpeg' ALL the time (Photoshop CS6, Mac ML), and it really feels like I should just be able to press one button (a shortcut) and the name/quality dialogs don't appear and it just saves a .jpeg into the folder that my original .PSD/file is in.
So basically:
- Press one button to save my open .PSD/file as a .jpeg
- Automatically save it in the same folder as my .PSD
- Save it as '10' quality in the jpeg settings
- No dialog boxes, as soon as I press the button, it saves it - if there's already a .jpeg of the same name, it creates a '-1','-2' etc.
I've tried using 'Actions', but it seems to save it wherever my original Action folder was - it doesn't change to whatever the current folder the .PSD is in...

Suddenly I can't save my PSD files as JPEG file without CS6 wanting to turn them into tiff files. Keeps prompting me to to choose from a drop down menu as Maya or Amiga files.
I've checked to be sure my file is set for 8 bits and srgb. Not working with video files of any sort. In fact, I've tried saving past PSD files as JPEG and it's giving me the same iff prompt.

'm trying to make an action to automate the saving of one photoshop file to multiple different jpegs. Basically what I am doing is producing team pictures from a psd template. I will do player #1 then save as #1jpeg, #2 save as #2jpeg, etc up to 20 players. I tried to make an action but it won't allow me to insert a file name. It would be straight forward if I could get a stop in there. how I could automate this
