View 4 RepliesFrom the start, I wasn't able to save to jpeg without getting a dcm extension (no jpg extension). However, if I saved to Multi-picture Format, I would get the familiar .jpg and everything worked fine for a while. This morning I cannot find a file format in "save as" that results in the .jpg file extension.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am saving work as jpeg into desktop file.... sometimes (not always) when I go to retrieve it ...it shows up as a file that I cannot open, not a normal jpeg. I just tried to copy and paste to show here..then draged into this space and it opened...tried to save it to desk top from here but it is still showing up as a very weid icon that will not open...? In the properties it shows as a jepeg, but the icon is totally different..

View 4 Replies View RelatedFirst let me say, I have searched through the forum and can't find the answer to what I am looking for. That is probably because I am not really sure what my problem is. As of yesterday I cannot save a file to jpeg (using PS7) I have done a virus scan and all the other regular checks but nothing is showing up.
Basically this is what I am doing. Opening a new document - adding some designs, flattening document and then saving. I choose to save it as a jpeg and everything seems to go fine until I go to open up the saved document. Then there is nothing there. Doesn't seem to matter if it is a new file or an old file. Same problem. (Mode is set to RGB-8bit)
Sometimes if I do a save as and give the file a completely new name a pop-up comes up and says the following: Could not save as "C:...est.jpeg" because that document is currently open. Save using a different name, or close the document and try again. Of course this makes no sense since I am doing a save as and giving the file a new name. Can anyone help me? Or point me in the right direction?
When I select jpeg in the Save As dialogue box the extension .iff appears instead.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI created a collage in Photoshop Elements 11. I can save the file as a PSE or PDF. How do I save the file as a JPEG in order to send the file to an online print service? Which online print service to use for square prints?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Photoshop CS6. I am unable to save a 8bit tiff or psd file as a jpeg. When I choose JPEG format .iff is attached to the file. When I open the same file in CS5 it works correctly. Whichever format I attempt to save as it selects the suffix for the format above. I have downloaded again but no change.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use 'Save as .jpeg' ALL the time (Photoshop CS6, Mac ML), and it really feels like I should just be able to press one button (a shortcut) and the name/quality dialogs don't appear and it just saves a .jpeg into the folder that my original .PSD/file is in.
So basically:
- Press one button to save my open .PSD/file as a .jpeg
- Automatically save it in the same folder as my .PSD
- Save it as '10' quality in the jpeg settings
- No dialog boxes, as soon as I press the button, it saves it - if there's already a .jpeg of the same name, it creates a '-1','-2' etc.
I've tried using 'Actions', but it seems to save it wherever my original Action folder was - it doesn't change to whatever the current folder the .PSD is in...
Suddenly I can't save my PSD files as JPEG file without CS6 wanting to turn them into tiff files. Keeps prompting me to to choose from a drop down menu as Maya or Amiga files.
I've checked to be sure my file is set for 8 bits and srgb. Not working with video files of any sort. In fact, I've tried saving past PSD files as JPEG and it's giving me the same iff prompt.
If I'm using the marquee tool to crop an image, how can I save the new cropped image as a jpeg file type rather than as a PSD, PDD file type?
View 2 Replies View Related'm trying to make an action to automate the saving of one photoshop file to multiple different jpegs. Basically what I am doing is producing team pictures from a psd template. I will do player #1 then save as #1jpeg, #2 save as #2jpeg, etc up to 20 players. I tried to make an action but it won't allow me to insert a file name. It would be straight forward if I could get a stop in there. how I could automate this
View 5 Replies View RelatedOK - so i've done a little bit of an edit to a photo and just wanted to save it to a jpeg so i could use it in other stuff. I was just wondering where this function is?
I've attached an image of the options that are available to me when i select save as.
For some reason Gimp 2.8 forces me to save in xcf format. Most times I want to save a file in jpeg or png format. Having to save as xcf, and then export to jpeg or png is a pain in the unmentionables. Especially when reopening the file for editing, requiring another pointless dance with the export system.
Is there some module, upgrade, improvement, fork or other means by which export is merged with save/save as functionality, thus removing the additional steps in the process of saving a file? Ideally it should involve nothing more than hitting Ctrl S for an a file that already has a name. Put another way, something that works the way everything else does.
Very new to LR. After I send a file to ps4 I can't seem to save the file as a jpeg.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running into an issue trying to complete processing of some images. I have converted a Canon CR2 raw file to TIFF, then opened into PSP X4. Now I wish to save as a JPG file. I've flattened & converted to 8-bit RGB. When I go to save it pops up an error stating: "An error has occurred while trying to write to the file". I can save the TIFFs, I can save to PNG, PSP, BMP, and presumably everything else. All except JPG--which is of course what is required. I can create an image from scratch and save to JPG. I've tried simply copying the image and pasting to a new image, then saving with the same error. Same with opening the PSP image back up & trying to save as JPG. I am updated to the latest patch just released.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi've been trying to find a way on how to save a file in jpeg without losing attributes, specifically the color quality, here is a sample of my work that i saved in jpeg, the one in the left is the output when i save it which it should not be like that, the one in the right is what it should really look like,,
View 11 Replies View RelatedI got this workflow,
1) From LR export to PS
2) Do all essential editings.
3) Save. File become 'xyz.tiff' now. (I want to keep this as master copy)
4) Crop to 4r, Save a Jpeg copy as 'xyz 4r.jpg'
5) PS save it as a copy, but do not automatically open the Jpeg copy. The tiff remains opened. I have to manullay Open, browse to it, and open the Jpeg. The 'Open Recent' list also do not list 'xyz 4r.jpg'.
6) Do 4r sharpening for the 'xyz 4r.jpg', save it.
Basically the files I want to keep and worked on is like this: NEF -> xyz.tiff -> xyz 4r.jpg -> xyz sml.jpg(maybe)
Now, it there a way in step (5) to have PS save the JPEG copy, and automatically open it? I don't care if the Tiff copy remains opened or not, I am done with it.
I got a new computer (Windows 7) at work this April and as of today, when I work on any of my JPEG images in PS CS5,suddenly it has defaulted its "Save As" to JPEG2000. How did this default change and how do I get it to default save as. JPEG again? There was nothing I noticed and no warning as to why this has changed, I didn't touch a thing!
(Last week, Adobe had to work with our IT manager to fix a problem that started occuring with my new Adobe Acrobat Pro 11 program. They had to log into my computer and change a registry thing to get it to work properly again...also something that changed without warning!!)
In vX1 I could save jpeg without substantially reducing file Mb size. In vX4, whenever I edit and save a jpeg file (using save & save as), it results in a reduced number of Mb's. Options in the 'save as' dialog are set at best. It would appear that PSP X4 is automatically optimising. Is there any way that the original file size can be retained on saving after editing?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a PSD file (16bits/prophoto RGB) with some layers. I combine the layers to ONE and change the bit depth to 8 bits.
Then I do one of two things:
(a) I save the file for the web in JPEG 90% high-quality and with sRGB ... filesize 340 602
(b) I change the color profile to sRGB and save the file as JPEG in the highest quality (10) ... filesize 174 549
I am at loss here. How on earth is it possible that the second file is almost half the size as the one saved for the web? What effect causes this? It is very easy to save for yhe web but as long as the JPEGs are that bigger it's no option.
So I am making digital color prints at 24x30. the photography work is about color fields and gradients, so I need super high res files. I have set the size to 24000x30000 pix at 1000 dpi..now my problem, when i go to save the gimp file as a jpeg i get this error message "JPEG image plug-in could not save image"
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am working on many files today and for some reason, even though they are JPG files, when I save them, the dialog box comes up and wants to save it as a PSD. It's wasting a TON of time because I have to change it to JPG even though the file is already. I tried the open as-JPG option on any of them and it gives me the error message of -"Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file". I'm in CS6 because there were too many issues with Photoshop CC.

View 4 Replies View RelatedPrint to JPEG in LR5.2 produces a corrupt JPEG file that cannot be opened.
Lightroom is running on MacPro. When printing I am attaching an ICC profile provided by the bureau that is going to produce the prtins. Having said this the file cannot be opened neither on a Mac nor on a Windows PC.
Up until now, i used to exported as TIFFs but after reading Jeff Schewe book The Digital Print i have become convinced that printing through LR to a file is much more efficient.
It is convenient to add each image name as a text on each figure by Slideshow. Could I use each image name as the exported file name?

View 6 Replies View Relatedi just installed my new Photoshop cs6 (with the design standard package, student edition), and set about to make some graphics.
i selected a new file, 300ppi, and set to work.
after a while, i flatten the image and go to save when i go to save drop down, i get a bunch of odd cool-sounding options, raw, and tiff.seeing as i just made a normal no-frills graphic, i choose tiff.
when i re-open image, i get a really crappy version of the image, with some odd color bars to one side.
Is it possible to save a 15-20MB raw file to 25MB or more jpeg?
