Photoshop :: The Installer Database Is Invalid; Please Re-install The Product From The Original Media

Dec 26, 2008

I just got Adobe Photoshop CS3. I started installing it and during the installation, the power cord got pulled over and the PC turned off! I turned the damn thing again and found out that the setup was not running!

Here are a few things I noticed:

Photoshop is in the registry but won't uninstall because the setup won't run.
The setup is alright and there is no problem or any file missing.

I tried the setup from my friend's CD but it gives the same error of my setup:

Critical errors were found in setup
- undefined
- The installer database is invalid; please re-install the product from the original media.

Please see the setup log file for details.

Illustrator :: CS3 On Windows 7 - Installer Database Is Corrupt

Jan 14, 2012

I have been using Illustrator CS3 for several years under WinXP, and have now upgraded the OS to WIN7.  I am failing to install, whatever I do it comes back with the following error message:

`The installer database is corrupt, if this continues .....'

I had onscreen chats with Adobe's  Vallen and (maybe) Sumar, who just sent me back to the Support page and forum page.  Digging there I eventually found [URL] ....... and followed the instructions, including deleting the caps folder because neither of the database files were in it.

There is a suggestion that I would get somewhere if I was disconnected from the internet.  I am wondering also if removal of Photoshop Elements 10 would get rid of a conflict (I have already stripped out most other Adobe programs).  I am pretty sure that before loading WIn7 I had been forced to uninstall CS3 for reasons of space, so I don't think ther should be an issue of serial nos.

Photoshop Elements :: Adobe PSE 11 Installer Defaults To Uninstall Routine

Apr 20, 2013

I’m trying to install PSE 11 from a downloaded < Adobe_PE11_T1.zip >.  Preferring a “clean” installation, first I uninstalled PSE 10 (Windows7 Control Panel / Programs); however, PSE 10’s program folder did not delete.  So, I deleted it manually, then ran Adobe’s <adobe_creative_suite_cleaner_tool>, and selected “All.”

Now, unzipping and installing PSE 11 causes the installer to default consistently to "uninstall."  I’ve performed cold boots between each step, and repeated the entire process with identical results.  How do I "reset" Adobe for a clean installation?

Photoshop :: Image Inconsistency

Mar 24, 2004

I am using a 17" iMac with PS7.0, Indesign2.0 & Acrobat6.0Pro under OS10.3.

When I view & save a grayscale image in PS it looks fine, same in Indesign. But when I export to PDF & view with Acrobat it looks too dark. I had proofs done from the PDFs recently & they lacked contrast, but were not as dark as the PDFs viewed in Acrobat. What is going on? My printer says it is a calibration issue between my monitor & their equipment, but I am more inclined to think that it is realted to my not embedding pofiles in the images. How do I get consitent results?

CorelDRAW X5 :: Color Profile Inconsistency

Oct 25, 2012

Just the other day I was reproducing a logo that was in a bitmap format, I got it all going then I tried to color match it..., the file was supplied as PSD,

I cropped the RGB color data and reassigned that into coreldraw, after looking at the image with both PS and DRAW side by side on the same monitor . I noticed that they color looks slightly different. Well both my apps are set with the same color profile,

Most of the time I work in RGB color space and I do lots of digital printing as vehicle wraps and wall murals and numerous sign faces thus color accuracy is very important to me but the rendering inconsistency really troubles me.

Both Coreldraw and Photoshop are set to Primary color mode RGB - Adobe RGB 1998

Cmyk output set to web coated SWOP V2

Rendering intent set to Relative Colorimetric. All rendering filters are turned off. Both applications are setup identically. Here is a pic

Notice the green color , same values / same profiles.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Ellipse And Arc Inconsistency

May 9, 2013

I have an ellipse with equal radii, I changed it into an arc, but I can't make it fit.

In the attached drawing, there are 3 entities.

1. The original ellipse - red

2. Arc that has the same start angle and end angle as the ellipse - grey

3. Arc that fits the original ellipse - green

Now this is strange, because the ellipse seems to have a different CS for the angles. I had more ellipses in the drawing, but some of them don't have this anomaly.

Photoshop Elements :: Fileserver Usage - Share Same Database File

Nov 30, 2012

Is it possible to have two machines, both running Photoshop Elements 11, share the same database file? The scenario I'm imagining is one where the images will be stored on a $fileserver and thereby accessible by either of my image-editing machines:

1. Dell Desktop PC (Win 7 Pro)
2. Apple MacBook Pro Laptop (OS X 10.7.5)

I want to be able to edit images from either machine, but I don't want to create two databases related to the images. I need both machines to use the same database of tags, etc. (Not simultaneously, obviously.)The file server will be one of the following (I haven't determined which one yet):

1. a second drive on the desktop PC
2. a third machine (FreeBSD, FreeNAS, Mac Mini, or a Linux box)
3. a NAS device (perhaps from Synology)

So, is this possible with Photoshop Elements? Does this bump me into some sort of server license scenario with Adobe? Is there a better way to do this at the home/consumer level, even if it means abandoning Elements for another product (or two products, working in conjunction) from Adobe? (I should mention that although it's a home scenario, we're talking about half a terabyte of images and growing.)

AutoCAD .NET :: Difference While Doing Customization With Database / Without Database Services

Aug 6, 2013

I am working on the AutoCAD customization and doing the same by VB.Net & C#.Net. But I just want to know the difference as mentioned below:

1. Insert Block In AutoCAD

Using VB.Net without using DataBase services..Only 1 statement is required to Insert the Block objAcadDocument.ModelSpace.InsertBlock(Required Arguments are here) Using C#.Net with DataBase services

There are many statments are there to insert only 1 block..Like Start Transaction, Lock the document, Get the Object Id Block etc...So my quetion is that when I have to use DataBase services and when not

what is the advantage of doing customization using DataBase services rather than go for wihout DataBase services.?

Photoshop :: No Adobe Installer Will Work

Oct 5, 2008

I've just yesterday had to re-install my operating system (XP Professional), after which none of the Adobe installers will operate as they had before.

When I try to install I get an error message telling me I must have Service Pack 2 installed.

I do have SP2 installed.

I've used several Adobe apps for years with this same OS and I've never had this problem before.

I'm using a Dell Dimension 8200 computer, Pentium IV 2 GB processor, 1GB RAM, and a Canon MP780 multiple function printer.

Does anyone have any idea what can be done to solve this?

Photoshop :: How To Disable All Non-essential Components In CS6 Installer

Jun 16, 2012

URL...How do I disable all the non-essential components in the Photoshop CS6 installer?

I already found the payloads/Media_db.db sqlite 3 database and wiped the Dependency Data table. This goes a long way - unlike CS5, which was a maze of hidden xml configs and sqlite databases, for CS6 just wiping this single table will give the user full control over what the installer will put in the computer. With the dependencies wiped, we can now see all the stuff it's actually going to install:

Bridge (normal and x64) - 187 and 262 MBCMaps (normal and x64) - 7.2 and 7.2 MBCSXS Extensions - 1.3MBCSXS Infrastructure - 6.8MBColor - photoshop, EU, JA, NA - 1.5, 2.1, 3.0, 2.5MBVideo profiles - 4.7KBDynamic Link Media Server - 96MBDynamicLink Support - 6.1MBExtendScript Toolkit - 19MBExtension Manageer - 16MBFonts recommended (normal and x64) - 110 and 110MB (why are there x86 and x64 versions? more of an open question than one that really needs an answer, but this is not how fonts work. There are no separate x86 and x64 flavoured OpenType fonts)Fonts required (normal and x64) - 123 and 123MBHunspell Linguistics Plugin (normal and x64) - 181 and 181MBLinguistics (normal and x64) - 46 and 46MBMini Bridge (normal and x64) - 4.0MBPDF Library Files (normal and x64) - 75 and 75MBPhotoshop (normal and x64) - 486 and 563MBPhotoshop Support - 9.4MBPlayer for Embedding 3.3 (normal and x64) - 21 and 26MBSwitchboard 2.0 - 1.1MBType Support (normal and x64) - 6 and 6MBWinsoft Linguistics Plugin (normal and x64) - 8.2 and 8.5MBXMP Panels - 4.9MBColorCommonSetCMYK - 13MBColorCommonSetRGB - 8.6KBCamera Profiles Installer - 285MBMSVC++2005 redist. (normal and x64) - 11 and 11MBMSVC++2008 redist. (normal and x64) - 11 and 11MBMSVC++2010 redist. (normal and x64) - 11 and 11MBMSVC80_CRT (normal and x64) - 0.0 and 0.0KBPDF Settings - 2.4MBCamera Raw 7  (normal and x64) - 22 and 24MBSuite Shared Configuration - 3.2MB.

Some of these things we really want installed (Photoshop, CMaps, XMP panels, Type Support and required fonts and color profiles are pretty much the minimal set required for a functional Photoshop installation), but some of these things really have no right to be silently installed. There's a good gigabyte of nonsense that someone who just wants Photoshop has no need for. Denying them the option to deselect these things during installation is a bit evil (whatever happened to the 'advanced' or 'custom' installation option?

unselecting all components indicates that the installation will required 0.0KB on disk. However, selecting Photoshop CS6 x64, which indicates its size is 563MB, results in an installation that requires 677MB on disk. Similar things happen for other components; CMaps is 7.2MB, but when you select it, it suddenly requires 121MB on disk.

I want to control exactly what lands on my disk. So: how do I find out what these secret things are that are not listed after wiping the dependency data so that I can explicitly pick individual components? Which additional steps are required to reveal the hidden dependencies that will apparently still be installed, or aren't factored into the size indication for the various components? how do I make the installer NOT determine that "this is not a genuine installer, you may have a counterfeit product".
