View 2 RepliesI'm using CS6 on my MacPro and and MacBook Pro (both running 10.6.8). When i use the crop tool on my laptop, an annoying black rectangle with dimensional data pops up whenever I crop. This does not happen on my desktop. I need this turned off on my laptop as well.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow to crop a photo to remove the background? Or do I need to go through several of the general tutorials before I can follow a tutorial on cropping?
I found a bunch of cropping tutorials on YouTube, but they used a lot of advanced (to me) terms and seemed focused on difficult situations.
I have 30-40 photos that are of wooden figures cut on a band saw. They do not have highly irregular edges like hair or fuzz.
I am hoping for a tool that can automatically follow the outline and then let me make any minor adjustments that may be needed.
I have a clipped image that I've placed a drop shadow on (using layer styles) on a transparent background. I want to quickly use the crop tool to remove any un-used pixels or artboard.
I tried to activate "show the layer edges", but it does not account for the layer style/drop shadow I've placed and also it goes away when you start to use the crop tool itself. So this doesn't really work.
Is there another way to do this? Other than eyeballing it? I want the image too be cropped as tightly as possible, but I do not want to tight too tight and cut of the drop shadow.
Just wondering if I'm missing something when I select the crop tool to remove a section of a image. Is there any way to move the marquee around as if it was a square converted to curves...just move the handles to say a triangle? I know I can powerclip to any curve design I can create..it just looks as if you can use the handles to flip, rotate, etc..

CS6
I used the magnetic and polyganol lasso tool to remove sections, after I drew a section, I pressed enter and then backspace, which made the section turn gray. But now it's just gray, on the same layer, and I can't do anything about it. I wanted an empty background under the image.
I can't use the magic selection tool because it DOES NOT select around the image properly (it selects INSIDE of the image) not where I cropped it out. And the magic selection tool is crappy. It leaves zig zagged white spots so why would I use that.
I cropped the entire thing out, and now I can't even see it without the background?
I am looking to crop some pictures and make the background transparent. This is one of my pictures below. The problem I am coming across is with it being see through, I cant seem to just pick and grab the blue rods, golf balls and clips they are sitting on. It seems to want to pick up everything including the gray background. I heard photoshop would make this possible. is this true? Also, what program would be the best for me? I want to spend the littlest i can. I am looking at the adobe photoshop elements and premier movie element 10. Would this work? Any good video describing how to crop and make the background transparent.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn the old days, one could just use the crop tool and, while drawing crop lines, check the perspective box if you found that you needed to change the perspective. With CS6 if you start with the crop tool, and find you want to change the perspective, you have to change tools to the new perspective crop tool. In the process, you have to tell the newly opened dialog box that you don't want to crop, to get to the perspective tool, which now has reset to its defaults. You've lost your cropping and you have to start over.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have photoshop 9. I have a pdf file that I am trying to remove the white background. I have used the magic wand and eliminated the white. I can even move the remaining copy around, but i cannot save the file without the white background reappearing. I have way too much time invested in this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a photograph with a person on it and would like to remove the background so I can cut the person out and place on a white background. I have tried the erasrue tool but when I get too close to the edge it is not differentiating between the person and the background - the colours are not hugely different. I have tried different ways of doing it with discontinuous option. on demos, it points to the sampling option but that doesn't seem to be available as an option. I have also tried using the selection tool but it is difficult/impossible for me to accurately capture the body of the person only as it traces elements of the door behind the person.

When I select content using the crop tool then hit enter (or the green checkmark) the picture just disappears. This happened all of a sudden a few days ago. I can do COMMAND Z to undo and the picture reappears. But every time I crop the picture disappears and the layer thumbnail just turns brown.

View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen I bought PSE 8 for Mac some years ago I found a function/preference to remove the grey background of PSE, so I always can see the desktop behind my opened images.
Now I bought PSE 10 and can´t remember the name and place of this preference. I don´t want the grey background and want to switch between PSE and the desktop just by clicking anywhere on the desktop.
I am a labtech at a community college and look after 48 mac pros in which the students use the entire creative suite. (I only mention this becuase any answers need to consider variations in system settings or photoshop settings. college students get into everything!)
But the issue is when you select the crop tool and enter a custom constraint and crop
The image size is sometimes a full 2 inches off of what you set as a crop?! I havn't run into this before
[I do know you can use the drop down box and use {size and resolution} but I want to know why it doesnt work under custom and unconstrained]

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to remove the blitz shadow from head and body on a white/grey background, with the Lasso tool. The adjustments with Brightness/Contrast in the chosen area works like a charm, however I always get a nasty pixeled or whitelined boarder going constantly around the edited area; no matter if it boarders to a black area (shoulder) or a gray one (wall behind person).
I've tried to edit the primary/secondary color, with no luck. Any way to make this boarder "blend in" to the new brightness area - or to just remove it? The edited area is somewhat identical to the old background, so there is no natural reason to why it should be a constant boarder.
Or is it a better (and easy!) way to remove blitz shadow from a black and white picture?
