My PSE10 Healing Brush is now acting like my cloning tool. I was using the cloning tool while editing a photo. The next photo I went to use the healing brush and received an error notice that I usually associate with the cloning tool. The error reads "alt-click to define a source point to be used to repair the image". I have done a restart as well as checked for any available updates. All to no avail.

I have been using PSE 11 (version 11.0) for several months on 27" iMac with OS X Lion (version 10.7.5). One of my favorite tools is the spot healing brush with content aware option. For some reason it suddenly stopped working! The black circle doesn't appear when I click my mouse. I have reset the tool to no avail.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAs pointed out in the thread subject line, both the clone stamp tool and healing brush are not working for me in Photo Elements 7.When I am attempting to use it, I get the message: "Could not use clone stamp tool because the area to clone has not been defined". Well, this is not the case since I did define it with command Alt + left mouse click.
Background:Photo Elements 7 is installed in Windows XP Professional SP3. The latter runs as a virtual O/S with Sun VirtualBox on host SuSE Linux 11.1 (Gnome).
I have checked the brush is in black and in normal mode. It just will not edit when I add a layer or layer mask. It has always worked fine up until yesterday
View 1 Replies View RelatedDetail Smart Brush use to have the same brightness as Smart Brush as in Bright Eyes, Whiten Teeth, etc. Now when I use Smart Brush, I get the same brightness as always, but when I try to use the Detail Brush, it is darker than Smart Brush. It used to be that I could go over an area as many times as I wanted without an accumulation of brightness with the Detail Brush. Now if I go over an area I already went over, it lightens it more. Have I done something to cause this? How can I get it back to the way it was before (and the way I can still use Elements 11 which I did not uninstall). I tried Sign Out, uninstall and making a new install but the problem was there again. Is it possible that this was updated by Adobe and intentionally changed?

Here's my problem: Once I have selected my Source, I go to the area of the picture I want to modify and Left-Click and start to drag to cover the area I want to modify. Once I reach my end point, I release my mouse button. In doing so, the area I just modified returns to its original look before I modified it.
I have tried everything I can think of and nothing seems to work
I was trying to use the healing brush to color hair in places where it was grey. I followed all the steps from the Photoshop handbook and held down the Alt key to sample areas of the hair that were good to use, but when I brush over the grey areas and release the mouse it just softens the area instead of keeping the color and texture I sampled. What's going wrong?
Or is there another, better way how to do it? I use Photoshop CX.
I can't use the spot healing brush. Whenever I try, a little notice appears at the bottom of my screen that says there are new capabilities available for the spot healing brush "click here". I've clicked and all it was is a tutorial video. I've watched the video numerous times, but the notice still will not go away. How do I get the use of my spot healing brush back?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was using the "texture" feature under the brush options, under "brush tip shape" to get a pencil type texture. I've turned it on and off to color stuff and anyway, now it won't seem to turn back "on".
I've attached this image so hopefully you can see the texture. It's not a custom brush or anything. Just the basic default PS brush with "texture" chosen, now it's just a smooth line.

Also, in healing brush, with "aligned" unchecked, why does the brush image change as it moves? I though that with "aligned" off, the selection made with ATL - click stayed constant.
I was using my eraser and airbrush tools on a small image on a larger layer and I moved the image and, after that the eraser and paintbrush tools stopped working on all layers. When I went back to a previous version of the file the tools worked fine.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is pretty weird. Brand new .lrcat, working through a few family pictures. The first few photos, the adjustment brush was working. A few minutes into it, it stopped working, or at least stopped having nearly as substantial an effect. If I push exposure by +4, it looks as if it's pushing it by .4. Same with other sliders - they are barely applied.
Did I hit some button that globally diminishes the brush strength or something?
Note that, in the second image, the adjustment brush is centered on his head. It's a little different than the first image, but certainly not to the extent one would expect from the sliders pushed to their extremes.
Just for a point of trivia, I installed QuickTime while working in LR. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but restarting LR and creating a new catalog did not remedy the problem.
When going to "Output" to make a DVD slideshow, the WMF is at 7% Windows says that Photoshop Elements 10 has stopped working.
