Photoshop Elements :: 10 Converting Files To JPEG (Shoot In RAW)
Oct 13, 2012
I shoot in RAW but for some strange reason Elements 10 has started to convert the files to JPEG. For example, if I open the file in iPhoto the file extension is shown as RAW. If I then import the file into Elements Organizer and then subsequently try to edit that file it shows the file extension as JPEG! Previously a RAW file would automatically open for editing in Camera Raw so I have clearly altered something somewhere!
I can't seem to convert mulitple raw files to jpeg in elements 12. I did it a couple of times in elements 9 and it worked but it's not working in 12. Is there something I need to do differently?
I'm taking the time to edit some of my nicer/older outdoor photos that were taken in jpeg format in Photoshop CS3 and then on to printing with an Epson 3800. I've been told that files I want to print I should make sure that I'm set to an RGB color space (1998), get icc profiles for paper, have photoshop manage colors, etc.
This is all going great! However, I've recently read online that to truly show the full potential of one's photos, those jpeg's should be converted to a TIFF file format...especially when printing (I'm now taking everything in RAW format, but I still have to take care of some of these nicer jpeg's).
Have done several prints comparing same photo in jpeg & tiff and tiff definately is higher quality. Now..my questions concern some of the settings in CS3 when I chose 'Save As' - 'Format' = tiff. Code:
I am creating an image in photoshop that a printer is going to use to make a postcard to advertise my website. He needs it in 300dpi resolution in order for it to print correctly. I have already created the vector image that is in 300dpi res, but need to add photos to the image. He said that everything needs to be in 300dpi resolution, including the photos that I add to the image.
I already have one photo that is in jpeg format that is at 300dpi, but I did not create that. I scanned in a photo at 300dpi as a tif file, and would like to convert it to jpeg while preserving its 300dpi resolution. I have tried everything in Photoshop that I know (which is not all that much) to try to accomplish this task, but to no avail.
I have edited certain photos in Photoshop Elements 11 (using the Expert guide for advanced editing techniques)and for some reason, these photos were converted to a psd format.
Now I cannot seem to be able to upload these psd photos to an outside Photo Album provider. all my jpeg photos upload fine but not the psd ones.
I just recently shot a session in raw (also new to that) to expand my editing process. I downloaded them to my laptop, edited them, and exported as a jpeg file. When I went to move the edits to my terabyte the files copied over as "untitled CR2 files". I don't know how to get them back as a jpeg.
I've been converting pictures from raw to jpeg and copying for transfer onto usb. After transfer I try to open the file in the organizer and it's missing
I'm converting batches of my EPS files to JPEG. I've created a keyboard shortcut, but still need to select JPEG in Format (default is PNG), then select 'Use artboards', then image type, resolution, etc.
Although it's quite quick to do, it's very repetitive and I don't want to miss a step if I lose concentration.
I've seen a script that does a batch conversion, but that has to have the file type that you're opening and the location. I still want to open each file individually and use a keyboard shortcut to execute that script.
If no ready script, how can I change the default from PNG to JPEG?
Way to import the raw file when I shoot jpeg and raw at the same time.. and then develop those files ? Also did there used to be a setting during development for "lights" ?
I have a Canon G-15 and want to download Camera Raw 7.3 so that I can open my raw files. I downloaded DNG but this requires converting my raw files to DNG.
I have always used Elements 10 to convert RAW files to jpg by opening the RAW file in the editor, making changes, and then choosing Open Image tab, and then choosing jpg format in the drop down box to save it. For some reason it is no longer an option, I have not changed any settings.
I downloaded a m4a audio format from iTunes and my elements 9 slide show can't read it. What is the best solution to convert to an mp3 format that the slide show can use? I'm running windows 7.
I have PSE12 set up as my default program for all JPEG files that I open. When a JPEG is double clicked, the program opens but the file does not. I have done the following:
Gone to Control Panel/Programs and set up PSE12 as the default program for all JPEG filesRight clicked JPEG files, selected open with and selected "C:Program Files (x86)AdobePhotoshop Elements 12" as my go to program for all JPEGSUsed a program to clear all PSE11 references out of my registry
I've been using an old version of Photoshop for awhile (Photoshop Elements 5.0) and it hasn't been buggy until now. I made a photoshop file, saved it, and when I tried to save it as a JPEG I get an "cannot complete request due to a system error" type message. It's a normal file, simple layers, contrast, brushes, etc., but I've tried opening normal JPEG files, drawing on it, and saving, still nothing.
In elements 10 i used to be able to convert multiple .nef files to various jpeg resolutions at one time by using "process multiple files" under the file heading. When i try to do this inelements 11, that option is unavailable (unhighlighted). How do i do this?
I suddenly got problems with saving files in .jpeg format. I use camera raw in my camera, and edit photos in Element, and then save a .jpeg version of the photo, and until recently that operation has went on without problems, but suddenly I got no other alternatives than .psd. Why?
I have just bought a new camera a canon 5dmk111 and have been shooting in Raw+Jpeg. When I try and transfer them onto my PC in Elements 10 it only recognises the JPEG's and not the RAW. I have previously been using a canon 400D and not had this problem.
Editing jpeg files with Photoshop Elements 10 corrupts the files so they cannot be viewed on a TV, how do I rectify this - the software as it stands is completely useless as I want to present slideshows to a number of people simultaneously via the TV. On initial use this didn't happen but it does now even after we reinstalled the programme.
