View 3 RepliesI have a simple 3d object animation - it rotates over 1 second. The movie has 1 second. When played, it rotates in a loop.
Â
I've converted the 3d layer into a smart object. The smart object animation timeline has 5 seconds, but the nested 3d object rotates only once and then stops. How to make the internal 3d animation loop inside the smart object?
Why does making a selection inside of a smart object (say with the rectangular marquis tool) disable Free Transform?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble with my PScs6 wherein the layered doc I am working on looses it's link to the source file within the smart object "container" layers refering to it. I opened up a saved version from timemachine and the same thing happened. At the same time ALL the masks all went nuts and presented with lined artifacts instead of white (in the case of adjustment clipped layers to the smart object. The original file was not moved to a new location or deleted. I closed PS6 and reopened to find the problem did not go away. It started when I used the rotate tool to do some fine work on the smart object's mask with brush and wand. I was using the fill command to fill the wanded areas in the mask. I believe it was a problem with the rotate tool because it became more and more jerky and resizing over 100% caused the image within the smart object to dissappear on all layers using that source image in the doc. PS6 has been buggy and crashing more frequently recently in general, especially after using plugins that have worked flawlessly for years. I run a macbook pro with snow leopard. 10.6.8
Â
this one show the smart object now emptied of it's source image after using the rotate (R) tool for a while and zooming in over 100%..this one shows the mask artifacts (on the topmost "wash" layer mask) that also developed after using the rotate (R) tool for a while and zooming in over 100%.
My goal is to be able to store any object type (mainly an image jpg/bmp) inside a part that is not accessable through the normal user interface to be used with my addin.
I have been searching around and it seems like GetPrivateStream is the way to go.
Any working example of GetPrivateStream in vb.net and confirm if it actually stores the data inside the part.
I can't find a solution anywhere or any decent referencing material for this. If there is a better method of achieving this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI often make a photo into a Smart Object within my file and then resize my file smaller for web. That way I can keep a copy of my original photo at full size but apply color correction, sharpening etc at the web size.
Â
So lets say the image dimensions are 300px wide but that file holds a smart object that is much larger. Is there an easy way to return the file to the larger size without losing my color adjustment layers etc?
Â
I know I can just make it larger but I want to return to the exact size of the smart object without having to open said smart object, record the size and then go back and enter it.
I imported some Images (no background) which had the file format 'png'. I just dragged and dropped the files into my current photoshop window. They got imported and then automtically converted into smart objects. After that I created a lot of copies of these smart object and transformed them.
Â
Now I wanted to change one of the smart objects and double clicked on it. But unfortunately the opened file is a png. So it's not possible to save layers in this smart obejct
Â
Is there any way to change the file format of a smart obejct (like psb/psd)?
When I open a raw file it automatically converts to a smart object. After processing and merging I am unable to print anything other than the original object. What might I be doing wrong?

View 2 Replies View Related1. Is there a way for masking each smart filter separately on a single smart object other than nesting one smart object into the another?

Why doesnt the smart filter mask move with the smart object?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI resized it to fit the background notepad and made several identical copies of the texture layer, their only difference being different values for "blend if underlying layer", so that the texture smoothly ends with the underlying notepad on each side (as there are luminosity differences both on the notepad and the notepads background).
That looks fine for "normal blending" (dont worry about the messy bottom, it will be cropped when everythings done). But I actually need the texture to be multiplied with the background layer. Obviously setting each layer to multiply isnt going to cut it because they would multiply each other, too. So I need to either put all the layers into a smart object (option 1) or option 2, which Ill resort to here put all layers into a group set to multiply, since this way all of the layers in the group are put together first and the composite group is then treated as a single image and blended with the rest of the image, using multiply.
... whereas I rather expected the result to look like this (I only roughly masked the edges for demonstration purposes):
To me it seems, as if putting the group would nullify the "blend if underlying layer" settings for each layer. Besides, the same happens if I use a smart object instead of the group (option 1). I dont see why this should happen at all.
So my questions: Is this behaviour deliberate? And if so, can somebody explain ?
a solution to get to the last screenshot (without masking manually obviously) ?
I'm running photoshop cs3. I created two different smart objects. Within each of those smart objects, I want to include another smart object. However, when I update the embedded smart object, only the partent SO is updated, the other SO seems to have a different child. here is the setup visually: canvas -> SO1 -> SO3canvas -> SO2 -> SO3 so when I update SO3 from within SO1, only SO1 is updated - SO2 stays the same.

Problem: Transform applied to Smart Object fails to transform an attached Smart Filters Mask.
Â
I mean a Transform, including Free Transform, as found in the Edit menu. A simple move by the Move Tool is OK.
Â
A workaround until this bug is squashed is to encapsulate the Smart Object + Smart Filters + Filter Mask inside another Smart Object and transform that. However, that will not be a satisfactory solution in some cases. If a filter has size parameter(s), e.g. Gaussian Blur radius, a scaling or warping/distorting transform applied after the filter will obviously differ from the filter applied after the transform.
Â
In any case, the workaround is inconvenient to subsequent editing and experimenting with filters and masks.
In Photoshop CC for Mac I have...
Â
Created layers of vector artCombined them into a smart object. Enlarged the smart object (both via "Transform" and "Image Size")Â Upon enlarging, the vector objects look the way an enlarged bitmap would (i.e. fuzzy, pixelated, terrible) instead of crisp and clean as a vector should look. I've double- and triple-checked to make sure all layers have remained vector after resizing and they have.
Â
This is a terrible inconvenience for anyone that works heavily with vector smart objects and resizes them. I use this workflow on a daily basis to make adapting interface elements for various screen resolutions easier, without it I am beyond screwed.
Â
Screenshot proof below:
I have several Photoshop documents that I would like to complie into one Photoshop document as separate Smart Objects.
Â
Can that be done in CC?
Â
I used to use Russel Brown's Place-A-Matic Script, but that is not supported in CC.
I want to edit a smart object but without opening it in a blank file. so I can see what I am doing in relative to all the other objects in the file something like "edit in place".

I would have thought that if I click on an object (in the document area) it should select the layer. But this does not happen. In order to select an layer, I have to select it from the Layers palette.
So is there any way I can select an layer inside the document area?
I downloaded a .psd file that is a catalog mockup. The document contains a smart object that looks like a catalog lying on a table top and I want to take my catalog art and place it in this smart object so that it looks like I've taken a nice photograph of my design work. That is the easy part!
Â
What I want to do now is duplicate that smart object, put it underneath the original so it is peeking out and tilt it a bit. Then I want to put the back side of the catalog art on it so that it now looks like I've got both the front and back showing. Only problem I keep running into is that now when I click on the 2nd, duplicated smart object and put the different art (back of catalog) on it, it updates the original, first smart object that I want to show the front of the catalog.
Basically I want the two smart objects to not link and update each other when they are in the same document. I can't find anything online so far and am running out of time. I even tried calling Adobe and that WAS A MESS.
While working and when the job was nearly done (Photoshop document with several layers to correct wrinkles, teeth, neck...) , I found out that the document is setup RGB.I have to convert it into CMYK but I don't want to merge it or lose layers since I need them in another Photoshop document too.
Â
While converting the image from RGB to CMYK, I found out that some of the layers (hue/saturation adjustment layers) don't exist anymore when converted to CMYK...How do I get these layers (or at least the effect they give to the design) in CMYK?
How do I drag to select over the top of objects without selecting and moving the objects under the mouse when I begin the "drag to select" motion?
