whenever I'm doing certain things in CS2 now all of my palettes are temporarily disappearing. I can bring them back by clicking anywhere in the blank workspace, but I'm not sure what's caused this. As the most simple example, I can reset all palettes to their default positions and reset to the default workspace. I then open an image, go to levels adjustment, cancel whatever change I might make, and all of the palettes disappear. Also, all of my palettes are floating within the main CS2 window. That is, if I want to move the whole PS2 window around my monitor, I'm having to deal with each palette and main menu separately. I'll bet all of this is a simple thing to reset, but I haven't found what's going on yet.
I recently added a block ( by dragging & dropping from our dws block library file) to our shared Tool Palettes. The block showed up properly on everone's computer the day I added it. However each morning when we restart our computers the block is no longer on the palette and I have to redrag & drop it. I thought that prerhaps I needed to export the updated toolpalette, but when I go to the customize tool palettes dialog box and right click on the toolpalette I don't see the export or import options. I am at a loss. We are using AutoCAD Architecture 2013
In CS4 the image covers pallets I wish to use. I need to either move the image or make it smaller to get to the pallets that are open. Is there any way to have the pallets on top of the image? I am thinking that this is a change from CS3,
I am using Photoshop CS4 and I just upgraded to Mavericks. When I opened PS I discovered that all the palettes that normally reside on a second monitor are now all on the same monitor with my PS document and I can’t drag them to the second monitor. It seems that PS does not recognize there is a second monitor there. I can drag documents and palettes from other applications onto this monitor so it appears to be only a PS issue.
I use two monitors, one for my canvus and the other for all my palettes. Which means my palettes are outside the application frame. With this setup, my mouse is very "jerky" when rolling over the layers palette, or others (takes a few sconds to notice). But once I move the palettes within the application frame the mouse is very smooth.I am able to produce this on two Macs. Â My setup is: MacBook Pro 10.8.2 16 GB of ram AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB graphics
I am attempting to create a BMP with the same color palette as Starcraft sprite images.
The tutorial I've found regarding creating Starcraft bmps mentions saving it as 8-bit, indexed color BMPs with compressed RLE, but it doesn't mention how to extract the palette from a Starcraft image and load it into Photoshop.
I was wondering about custom color swatch formats. Specifically in an ancient version of Photoshop (like 3.5) in addition to the preset swatches, there used to be a blank "scratch pad" type palette feature where you could put colors and smoosh them around just like a real artists palette then pick colors from there....is there anyway to do this in Photoshop 7 without creating a separated doc? Also, you used to be able to create a swatch palette based on the colors in a given image by going to mode>indexed color ....that doesn't seem to be working for me...
i want to save the palette and use it with another picture to have the same color-palette on two different images.
The "match color" tool comes close to the result i want to have...but it works with the contrast too and adds colors that i don't want..I JUST want to work with the available colors... simply extract a color palette from an image and use it with a second one to get them match...(without adding something)
I found some tools to do this with 256 color images but I want to to this with my 8bit or 16bit files from my camera.
I think it's a simple answer but I can't find it....I hope someone can help me....
I know when CS5 first came out even the standard modal windows for Levels, Curves etc. were housed in a Palette and that blew my mind with hatred. It seems they've fixed that but are still limiting Adjustment Layers to the same Palette fate. Â Is there any way on earth to switch back to the standard modal type window for Adjustment Layers? Forcing us to use them in a Palette window makes me want to go get a root canal. I've had CS5 for over a year and simply cannot use it due to this and some other issues.
Is there a way for moving all my open palettes with the Photoshop main window from one screen to another in a single go? It seems a bit awkward that when moving my Photoshop window from screen 1 to screen 2 I have to move every single palette one at a time? And if i save a custom work space and load it when my Photoshop is on my second screen it still places the palettes as they were saved on screen 1 instead of relative to where my Photoshop window is placed.
Is there a fix for modal dialogs open behind palettes in Photoshop cs6 13.0 (creative cloud update) + OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard on MacBook Pro? ( I am using 2 monitors where the second monitor is set to be the menu display. cs4 does not exhibit this bug. )  Toggling the Application Frame off improves the hiding 'feature' but this does not include the desired continuous floating in front of palettes in all circumstances.  An example is Blending Options, then chose Stroke, then chose the Color Picker. After clicking OK, the Blending Options dialog now sits behind the palettes. One trick is to click on another app, then back to cs6 to force a window redraw.
So this bug was ignored during beta and it was NOT fixed in the official release of PhotoShop CS6. Â Since I don't feel like retyping the whole bug report after paying a grand for the software here is a link: [URL] Â if you commute with a laptop and dock with a full-size monitor for work every day!
As an old scholar (been using PShop since Beta 1.0) I have never been a fan of tabs -esp as I often drag/compare elements from multiple files. In CS6 I see some inconsistent behavior with palettes. The active file can now obscure the toolbar and the palettes docked at far right. Strangely, other palettes (not docked) remain visible above the image.
The same occurs with other open files, so that I can have the tool bar blocked by files I'm not even working on. I have set my workspace to mimic CS5 as I'm not fond of the newer interface. This odd overlap impacts my workflow, as it takes time to maneuver the various image frames so as not to obscure palettes. Is this SOP, a bug, or is there a prefs setting that I broke? (see attached image).
Why is it that my document windows float on top of my palettes. Selecting the palettes doesnt bring to the front either. I have to move that window out of the way and them go back to my current document. This is very annoying and a major issue if its not fixable other than going back to tabbed windows?
I like to place tool bar on the right side of the computer monitor contiguous to the palettes. Is it possible to commit the tool bar to this location permanently?
I could D/L an .ACO file of all Sherwin William paint colors. I've loooked on their site but i can't find them, maybe I'm over looking something, but Benjamin Moore has D/Ls' for both autoCAD and Photoshop of all their paints so I would hope that Sherwin williams would to. I figured I'd ask and see if anyone knew of a site that housed custom palettes, specifically of certain paint vendors.
My place of buisness uses Benjamin and Sherwin paints exclusively for our buildings and I was hoping to take photos of the building and change the exterior paint colors to match paints selected from these two vendors.
My plug-ins are disappearing...Just gone. I can't find them anywhere. Artistic - gone. Textures - gone. Not sure what's going on here... Is there any way to restore the factory default plug-ins w/o reinstalling PS altogether?
I've been working with psd files in CS4 and after saving once, everything seems normal. After working on a file more and trying to save, I get a message that it can't be saved because the file name is not valid. If I close the file without saving and try to reopen, it says I don't have permission to open the file. I've tried doing a SaveAs under a different name with same results. Even worse is that the files I thought I had saved previously simply disappear from the folder they were in if I do the SaveAs step under a similar, but different name (like adding -1 to the name.) They don't appear anywhere on the computer that I can find. I'm running an up-to-date Windows 7, 64-bit. CS4 also is a current 64-bit.
My text keeps disappearing after i have entered the text. I know you have to click the tick at the top right of the screen but i want to be able to drag the text around to see what looks good. Also, When im typing the text in i cannot see the text. I am using Photoshop CC,
I am running Mountain Lion on an older iMac (2007) 4 gb ram, and newer (2011) Macbook Pro with 8 gb of ram. Cursor disappears and will not comeback without click in finder or another program.
I thought it was just the comp setup of some of my buddies, but I'm getting the same thing occasionally. It's kinda hard to repeat, but it Is repeatable.
It's simple. just open a decent sized file, mine right now is 5000x5000, select the brush tool and press the bracket key rapidly to change the size of the brush.
It might take a few times for it to actually disappear, but the mouse eventually should disappear anytime it's over the photoshop window. It shows up over tools and the file menu, but that's it. You can still paint, but it's Really hard to do when you can't see where the stroke is going to begin.
If it makes a diff...Photoshop has the file open and is taking 400MB of mem. Doesn't even seem high. Usually when this happens it's on a file with Way more layers and is taking something closer to 2GB of memory.
I've just installed Photoshop CS, and the filter for brush strokes, sketch, texture, and video are all greyed out - I can't access them. What's going on?
trying to create reflections that end up "dissapearing" (like you can see in the attachment). i´ve tried EVERYTHING, playing around with the gradient overlay but the image always seems to dissapear either at the left or the right, not at the bottom,
I'll put them in the presets>>brushes folder, but when i go into Photoshop, they're not there. BUT! When I go to add a new brush through Photoshop, the file is there and I can click on it and it will load under whatever brushes I was using. They're just not showing up.
Is there some limit I dont know about?
Also, my blendings not working when i try to blend layers with a gradient. Say i were to put to pictures on a new file. I'd do a layer blend so the line inbetween them isn't so harsh. But instead of doing that, it just does the actual gradient (the colours are black and white).
I'm wondering about the dots that disappear here. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this is called, so i could look up a tutorial on it or how it's done or just some leads.
I'm trying to make a simple 3D extrusion of the text in a logo (Yep, freshly made text layer, so no it's not text within a png image or anything! I may be a noob, but I'm not flat out stupid! ). I know how to do it and all that stuff but occasionally when I come to do this in PS, the option just no longer seems to be available! I'm using the Extended version as provided via the Creative Cloud and I HAVE successfully made 3D extrusions in the past (made a 3D logo last night actually), and I've been through preferences etc. so it's not as if suddenly PS has opted not to use my graphics card or anything silly like that. Â In this particular case, I made my text, went to make a 3D extrusion, then realised I needed to rotate the text a little, so backed out and did my rotation - when I went back to the 3D menu, NOPE, not an option. Â Have I still got the 3D grid and pop-up running somewhere but just haven't clicked back to it?why I can no longer select it as an option? how to get the option for 3D extrusions back?
