Photoshop :: Creating Crisp Lines From A Fuzzy Document / CS4?

I have a scanned copy of an old architectural plan of a building, it was done by hand is old and being a copy traced by crayon so you can imagine it is very fuzzy and speckled, there are clearly visible but no solid crisp lines.
It has taken me hours just to delete large areas of white space that is fuzzy/speckled.
there is a function that can trace a line ignoring the fuzziness around it and making it crisp? I've been playing around with the magic wand tool but its not coping with it. Despeckle filter doesn't really cut it either.

In organizer when I select a picture in the thumbnail view, it first appears fuzzy, then after a second or two, it crisps up. This used to happen with PSE 3 and when I upgraded several months ago to PSE 6, it stopped. Now it seems to be back again.
Does this delay have something to do with the quantity of pictures or memory configuration, or what?
I have a one year old Dell Vostro 1510 with 4 meg memory.

How do you create crisp buttons? I have a client that needs a number of buttons saved at 32x32, 24x24 and 16x16 pixels. I have designed the buttons in Illustrator, but when they are placed into photoshop they can end up blurring. I understand they have to pixelate, but the problem I am having is that some of the vertical and horizontal lines end up sitting between to rows of pixels and so spread across both, blurring the line. Is there any magic way to fix this other than fine tuning the position, or altering the vector? Or should these types of buttons be created in a different program?
I am generally very proficient with Photoshop, but I've never had to work at this scale before.

Auto-Cad prints fuzzy lines. Its worse when they are enlarged. Drawings are printing as PDF files.

Everytime I print a drawing anyting done in white comes out fuzzy/doubled up. (dwg) in autocad 2010

I am using Photoshop CS5 on OSX 10.6.8. When I try to create a new file or copy and paste within an open file, I receive this error message: "This is not a valid Portable Document File (PDF) document. It cannot be opened." This does not occur when opening files, only when creating a new document or working within an open document. I have tried deleting preferences and resetting all warning messages but nothing has worked.

When I try to create a new document or open an existing one in either ps 7 or CS, it closes. This happens everytime.
Previously they were both saying "cannot create new document because of program error" but I deleted the preferences, and now they do this...
I've re-installed CS twice now.
When I try photoshop in another account it does the "could not create a new document because of program error" message.
I have a 1.33 GHZ PowerPC G$, 512 Ram, OS X version 10.4.6
Photoshop used to work fine, and then one day randomly had the error message, and now closes when i create or open documents.

I downloaded a .psd file that is a catalog mockup. The document contains a smart object that looks like a catalog lying on a table top and I want to take my catalog art and place it in this smart object so that it looks like I've taken a nice photograph of my design work. That is the easy part!
What I want to do now is duplicate that smart object, put it underneath the original so it is peeking out and tilt it a bit. Then I want to put the back side of the catalog art on it so that it now looks like I've got both the front and back showing. Only problem I keep running into is that now when I click on the 2nd, duplicated smart object and put the different art (back of catalog) on it, it updates the original, first smart object that I want to show the front of the catalog.
Basically I want the two smart objects to not link and update each other when they are in the same document. I can't find anything online so far and am running out of time. I even tried calling Adobe and that WAS A MESS.

Starting with a blank document i want to create a poster. I go to add lines and shapes etc.. after drawing the first line or shape they disappear as soon as I go to draw another line or shape..
I use to design posters in a different program and what ever i drew stayed one the page it didn't disapear unless i place another object on top.

I have created a New Document Profile that I want to use as a base when starting Ilustrator work. I cleared pallettes colors, brushes, symbols etc and created 3 new common layers etc. When I select my file from the New Document Profiles pull down menu the Layers pallette opens with only a blank Layer1 .The work on my custom Layers that I would like as masters is gone.

I own a company that designs and sells sewing patterns for men's clothing to be made by home sewers. I have my patterns professionally drafted and sent to me as a poster-sized PDF. I then open it in Illustrator, move things around, change some fonts, etc... and make a 34" wide copy to be printed at a copy shop. That's all fine and dandy, and it prints out perfectly.
I then use Acrobat XI Pro to open the 34" version and print to Adobe PDF with the poster setting of 7.5" x 10" for people to print at home. Then I open each page of the multi-page PDF in Illustrator to add a border, alignment marks, page numbers, etc... and save as the same PDF.
Now here is where the weirdness begins. For some reason, there are random chunks of lines (identical to the pattern lines throughout the rest of the document) that aren't supposed to be there. They don't show up on my screen when I open the file in Illustrator or Adobe, but they get printed every time. I've even started the whole process from scratch, tested the 34" wide version at the print shop (prints perfectly), and split it into pages again, and the phantom lines are still there!
I've attached a photo I took of one of the pages in question. The file on my screen is the exact one I printed, and as you can see, they are definitely not the same
I have been saving the PDF files as Press Quality from Illustrator.

I have the illustrator instalation from creative cloud subscription and everytime i create a new document and on the profile combo choose "web", the illustrator freezes forever.
Im using mac version in a macbook pro 13" corei7 with 8gigs ram.

I'm creating a criminal line out background . I'm using the line tool to create the lines. I have renamed it in the path tool created a clipping mask but when I flatten the image once finished the lines disappear.
I have also tried creating a new layer naming it putting it between my copied layer and background but once again when flattening the image it doesn't keep the lines. I'm using CS4 .

Windows Vista 64, corel crashes on creating new document or opening existing one. It crashes twice actually. First crash spews out this:

I screen capture a web page I want to modify and plop new text on it. But the fonts in my screen capture are more crisp than the text I type in Photoshop! The fonts I type in Photoshop look blurry, fat, messy, "like crap" - even though I set my anti-aliasing to "crisp".
Is there a better way of getting cleaner text to display?
Is there a 3rd party plugin I could use or something?

I have created a shape using the Shape tool and have applied a 1px inside stroke to the shape. The problem is that the stroke appears to be anti-aliased. I want it to be crisp. It is actually a straight line.

horizontal nav bar just create few lines and copy/paste. Don't know if there is the professional pattern way. Or even if you would use it in this case.
Then there is the diagnol lines, very thing and sharp.

I'm working on a map and need to have curved lines ending in arrows. When I use the line tool it only makes straight lines. When I use the pen tool it only makes solid shapes. I wish to use a tool that acts like the pen tool in illustrator - will give me a line that I am able to curve as I choose, at the thickness I choose, in the color I choose. I've spent an hour trying different tools to achieve this and no luck. A coworker suggested creating the lines in illustrator then importing them, however that seems counterproductive and I can't believe Photoshop can't do something as simple as making a curved line!

I have a bit of a problem, i'm new to corel draw and i'm trying to create a flyer in 11x17 but when i go into print preview it shows half of my work only. can you adjust the print area on the print preview?
i need these flyer to be printed out in 11x17. would i need to create the document in a regular 8.5x11 and if so how would i increase the size to print out to 11x17?

Is it possible to create an art which is present on the document but not on the 'Layer' panel(F7)?
My requirement is to create an art which is visible on the document, but could not be seen on the Layer panel and user is not able to select it.
Just like it happens in case of reflection, when we are creating a copy of selected art object, the reflected copy doesn't present on the 'Layer' panel but it is visible on the document and user is not able to select the reflected one, while he can only select the original art.

I'm creating a large document with the same background but different pics and text on the multiple pages. I want to create a background that is not a bitmap but is still vector and that I can edit, that will automatically come up with each new page. And the kicker is that if I change one thing to the background, it will auto populate the change to the rest of the document.
The background consists of a title, a company logo, some solid fill text and pic areas. So for instance if I wanted to change the background color from green to blue I don't want to have to go to each page and change it individually.

Is there an easier way to create gridlines as a design element? I know you can set/adjust the grid in the preferences, but I would like to be able to have the gridlines as something editable (changing colors/scale, etc.) and as an element in the piece (as opposed to just a guide overlay that's not integrated).
Up til now I've been doing this the hard way, using guides and the line tool to create/copy/move each line, etc. building it piece by piece...while this works,
