Trying to streamline some work flow issues and would love to be able to "Save As" without having to navigate through file formats , say, .png - every time.
Is there a way to open the file browser in PS to a specific file format each time?
Do you want to save changes in shortcut file before resetting shortcuts? I get this whenever I go, window, workspace, and bring back my workspace.
I have NO IDEA what is means or what to choose. I always choose dont save, because if I choose save, then a save dialogue box comes up, and I'm wondering, why such a big ordeal going on here. I just want my workspace back, why should I be saving something everytime I just want my old workspace corrected?
For my work I have to cut and change the size of images a few thousand times a day.
When I want to save a edited image to a file(every image goes to the same file all the time),I always have to search this file. How can I program CS5.1 to always go to that specific file to save the image. Instead of searching for the file all the time!
Second thing is that the images always have to be changed to the same resolution. Is there a way to 'automate' this. I Know: - File - Automate - Fit Image. But is it possible to do this with a key combination or make a 'button' somewhere?
I needed a second audio file and created a layer and placed my video file that has the audio I want in that layer. I edited the audio in that layer and now I want to save the result as an audio file.. preferably an MP3 file. How do I select a specific layer and save just that layer as an audio file?

Is there anyway to tell PS to go to that specified folder when I want to save, and not try to save into the folder where I found the last source picture?
I use 'Save as .jpeg' ALL the time (Photoshop CS6, Mac ML), and it really feels like I should just be able to press one button (a shortcut) and the name/quality dialogs don't appear and it just saves a .jpeg into the folder that my original .PSD/file is in.
So basically:
- Press one button to save my open .PSD/file as a .jpeg
- Automatically save it in the same folder as my .PSD
- Save it as '10' quality in the jpeg settings
- No dialog boxes, as soon as I press the button, it saves it - if there's already a .jpeg of the same name, it creates a '-1','-2' etc.
I've tried using 'Actions', but it seems to save it wherever my original Action folder was - it doesn't change to whatever the current folder the .PSD is in...
Is there a way, when saving jpg files to save as a specific file size, rather than quality level (currently using CS5)? I have a few clients (realtors) who require files to be 100kb (or smaller... but 100kb is the ideal to shoot for) for their listings.
Given I'm working with a number of images, I would like to be able to do this as a batch, rather than one at a time, getting as close to 100 as I can without going over, as I have to at this point.
I have a Nikon D70 set to RAW file. This creates the files with .NEF extension. I'm sure you are aware that ps can open this type of file, but cannot save as .NEF . My question is really what is the best alternative?
I ask this because when printing large pictures (30"x20") that I have edited, and saved as jpeg the image quality is comprimised and 'grainey'. Is there a file type that will not compress the picture and keep the original clarity?
I am using a licensed version of Photoshop CS5, already updated to the latest patch. However, for some reason my copy of Photoshop seems to be missing the option to save a file as .tga.
From reading multiple forum posts relating to Photoshop, the function to save as .tga should already be built in, and not require a plugin.
There may also be some other missing file formats that I am not aware of.

how to modify the options in the save dialog?Every time I save a file and have to choose the file type, I have to scroll through obscure and obsolete file types. Sure, I might need someday to save Scitex CT, or Photoshop DCS, but the chances are very slim. Some people surely use PIXAR and TARGA, but I don't. What the hell is an IFF? If I ever need a Portable Bit Map (really?) file it would be great if I could find it in a user defineable option pull down. I can pretty well guarantee that the file types I need are PSD, TIFF, JPEG, PDF, PNG and once in a blue moon, GIF.

I need to get it into either a .gif or .jpg format AND the final file MUST be .8 inches x .3 inces, AND no more than 10K in size. How can I save it with these dimensions/constraints and not lose resolution? What I have tried - export to .jpg (file is 5 inches x 3 inches), export and change resolution to 100ppi (image is nearly the right dimensions, but blurry). View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason Gimp 2.8 forces me to save in xcf format. Most times I want to save a file in jpeg or png format. Having to save as xcf, and then export to jpeg or png is a pain in the unmentionables. Especially when reopening the file for editing, requiring another pointless dance with the export system.
Is there some module, upgrade, improvement, fork or other means by which export is merged with save/save as functionality, thus removing the additional steps in the process of saving a file? Ideally it should involve nothing more than hitting Ctrl S for an a file that already has a name. Put another way, something that works the way everything else does.
What I want to know is if there is a way to make a hotkey or at all save specific options for specific tools. Let's say I'm using the 'Paintbrush, Opacity 70%, Hardness 075, Size 4.00' as my "standard outline tool". Can I some how save that preference (and any other tool such as "Specific Eraser Op. 100%, Hard. 100, Size 10.00) so that I can easily switch between "Ouline Brush" and "Specific Eraser" . Maybe to the 'f-buttons'

Is there a way I can change the default file format from .xcf?
For example, I open a jpeg, crop it and try to save, but if I then try to save it as a jpeg I get a message telling me I have to 'export' first.
I know the Gimp isn't Photoshop but in Photoshop you get the option to choose the file extension at save or save as without the added step of exporting.
Is there a setting somewhere that allows me to choose as this messing around exporting from .xcf is a real drag when you're editing a lot of images. Plus you can end up with extra, unwanted, .xcf files.
Is there a reason why the Gimp defaults to .xcf for every file edit? It seems unneccesary when all you're doing is a simple crop etc.
Again Photoshop opens, allows edits and then saves in the original's file format, which does make for a more efficient workflow. Plus it doesn't default to .psd for every edit.I'm using Gimp 2.8 with Fedora 17 64bit and will now boot into Windows to work more efficiently in Photoshop till I can find a way to change this in Gimp.There doesn't seem to be anything in Preferences relating to file formats/extensions.
I just recently discovered the keyboard shortcut for toggling the current layer on and off and it is an incredible time saver. Is it possible to create a keyboard shortcut dedicated to toggle a specific layer on and off regardless of what layer I am working on? I use Photoshop for painting and I'll have a layer set up like an overlay, with my line drawing set to Multiply blending mode at about 25% opacity.
However, as the painting progresses, I need to turn that layer on and off continuously to be able to see my painting without the lines overlayed. I know I lose a lot of time having to go over and turn the eye off and then back on over on the layers pallete. I've tried setting something up as an Action, and had a shortlived success, but when I added new layers or moved them around after setting it up, it stops working. I have to say, it was my first attempt at creating an Action of any kind, so there may be a way to keep it working regardless of what I do to the other layers, Having the ability to somehow dedicate a key for quick toggling of my drawing layer would be another tremendous time saver.

However, when I open the image in ImageReady, I get an error message: "Could not read Adobe ImageReady specific data because slices were in an unsupported format." For example, I have a drawing located in a Windows folder called 'Appraisal Maps', the drawing contains 2 paperspace layouts, one of which is named Show Me Stakes. I would like to have a Windows shortcut of the drawing inside of a Windows folder called 'Staking-Show Me', so that when I double click the drawing it will open up and automatically switch to the proper paperspace layout.
I am wanting this for two reason, 1) so that we do not create multiple drawings and actually use the power of autocad layout tabs and layer management. 2) so that when management opens up the drawing it goes directly to the proper layout minimizing their head scratching as to what is going on.
When I try to create a Save As TIFF file, although TIFF shows in the Format line, what is created is a pbm file. It does it every time. Is there some way for me to create a TIFF file using Save As?

My target: in AutoCAD pops a dialog, select filename (related to our internal projects) string, then it will create a DWG file from a template DWT file. Then some operation like insert elements into the DWG file and then SAVE (with the filename assigned).

Well it doesn't work on either of #1-4
#1 give out "eFileInternalErr" exception, which I found the answer - you can't call save() if it's open from exist file
#2 works ... but it just save the contents we write to the database but won't save template file contents, ie. we have put in layers inside the template file but they doesn't save to the new file
#3 give out "drawing is busy" error, no clue why it's "busy" ...
#4 give out same error as #3
What is the best export/import format for sending 3D files. I need some neutral format files, possibly Solidworks but I am not sure. Also any export settings to make sure I get decent quality files.
Nothing like getting a surface model when you want solid model.

I have changed the crop shortcut to ctrl + >, and it works fine until i restart!when i check the shortcut i previously changed, it is now ctrl+&???Why?????I used to have this same shortcuts since cs4.(PS 64bits, latin keyboard)
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have re-installed APDS Ultimate 2013 onto a new computer and am having some issues setting up my styles and etc...for the most part I have been working on it as I go with no issues...but I can't remember how I set up my export to dxf settings before. I think I just used the default settings, I exported to dxf from the idw environment by saving copy as and selecting dxf from drop down menu and selecting something like AutoCAD 2004. This has worked before and still does now, but the problem is the dxf's that are exported are huge. The drawing is of a single tiny part with basic geometry. The picture below shows the size difference between the files.
how I can make it a normal size, I don't really care about the size of the dxf except for the fact that I can't email it because we have a limit of 10MB.

I can't open a new Illustrator file. It sends me this error: Can't create a new illustration. Problems occurred while saving the print file.I opened a previous document created in CC, but it will not allow me to copy and paste items from one doc to another. I have rebooted with no avail.
