I've been having this problem for quite a long time.
I've been trying to make a circular crop of my company logo (which is a circular logo).
However, whenever I crop I still get a rectangle with white corners.
Isn't there a way to make the corners transparent in Photoshop?
By the way, I'm using Photoshop CS3 extended.
I want to crop a circular or elliptical region from an image. I presume that one begins by creating a path, but after that, I'm getting nowhere.
the elliptical marquee tool...is this part of the solution?

View 4 Replies View Related1) Click and hold the rectangule tool until other options appear. Select Rounded Rectangle Tool (or, alternatively, just click this in the options area for the shape tool.
2) Select "make work path" in the options for this tool.
3) Try drawing a rectangle. If you want a wider arc, increase the radius in the options.
4) When you're happy with the radius, draw a rectangle from picture corner to corner. Press space when you are making the rectangle to move it about...
5) Go to Paths (a Tab that's default location is behind Layers on the Layers Palette). Ctrl-Left click the workpath.
6) Select, Inverse (Ctrl-Shift-I)
7) Make a new layer and fill with white (Edit>Fill, or Shift-Backspace).
8) Delete the work path.
However I am not sure how to now crop the photo out of the white surrounding area. Also how do I then apply a thin border to the edges of the photo like a stroke?
I have a stock rectangular image and i want to simply crop it out with nice smooth rounded corners
Is there a quick and easy way...or do i have to go through the pain of manually pening curves and deleting them ?
I have a photo that Iwant to look more natural by fading the corners out to transparent so it doesn't look like a square photo.

I am making a table with rounded corners, but i am having difficulty setting the transparency. I want the round part to be the color it should be...#9999CC and the outter part to be transparent. The problem I have is when I put this on a table, the blue part shows fine on a blue table, but the outter part shows white. When I put it on a background image the round part shows up transparent and the outter part shows up pure white. I want to get rid of the white space and have the background image be able to show on the outter part.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am having lots of difficulty with this. I'm trying to create a rectangle that is transparent with rounded corners but I need the rounded rectangle outlined. Now I know how to create a rounded rectangle what I am doing for that is the following;
creating an image, selecting add alpha chanel, then selecting rounded rectangle, invert then cut.
The problem is I need the rounded rectangle outlined. When I try to use the paintbrush with stroke it outlines the image but when I go to save it it saves the whole image including the cut corners.
In essence. I just want to make a rounded transparent rectangle. Then have it outlined. This would be for a web page.
I created some buttons in Illustrator CC that have a white background and rounded corners. When I Save for Web as a Gif, I checked Transparency. However, the rounded corner area show a black background around each corner. When I save for the web,do I need to choose something else in the Matte and Transparency dropdown menus?

The problem I am coming across is with it being see through, I cant seem to just pick and grab the blue rods, golf balls and clips they are sitting on. It seems to want to pick up everything including the gray background. I heard photoshop would make this possible. is this true? Also, what program would be the best for me? I want to spend the littlest i can. I am looking at the adobe photoshop elements and premier movie element 10. Would this work? I want to create a circular shaped elevator with a circular fence around it that's roughly half the size of an average sized character standing on it. I then wish it import this as a static mesh into UDK.

I see that when I export for web, I can crop all regions whose alpha is zero. But what if I want to crop all regions whose alpha is below (say)10%? Is there a way to do that?

I am a labtech at a community college and look after 48 mac pros in which the students use the entire creative suite. (I only mention this becuase any answers need to consider variations in system settings or photoshop settings. college students get into everything!)
But the issue is when you select the crop tool and enter a custom constraint and crop
The image size is sometimes a full 2 inches off of what you set as a crop?! I havn't run into this before

How do you cut out something from an image if it needs to be rotated while cropping? When I try to save a sliced and transparent PSD in the Save For Web dialog box with PNG-24, the transparency dissapears once exported. I have the transparency and interlaced boxes both checked. The images appear transparent in the Optimized Save for Web dialog box, but the transparency dissapears once exported out of Photoshop.
I never had a problem with this when I was using CS4...
I need to strip my current image of its background color so that the background color on my website goes thru my image. In other words I need a transparent background for my image.
I have create a new layer that is transparent, but the background color on my website does not go thru it. The background color of this image appears to be grayish not transparent.
In the old days, one could just use the crop tool and, while drawing crop lines, check the perspective box if you found that you needed to change the perspective. With CS6 if you start with the crop tool, and find you want to change the perspective, you have to change tools to the new perspective crop tool. In the process, you have to tell the newly opened dialog box that you don't want to crop, to get to the perspective tool, which now has reset to its defaults. You've lost your cropping and you have to start over.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been using the crop tool without any knowledge of the little boxes you can fill in to restrict its WxH dimensions. I always wanted my crops to come out at a 2:3 ratio and could never get them perfect since I was just eyeballing it.
So then I found the WxH controls and if I put "2 in" for width and "3 in" for height, my image will come out as desired, no scaling of the image, but with the unfortunate side effect that my DPI has been changed, which causes problems for me later on. Now if I put "2 in" x "3 in" and then specify 72dpi in the "resolution" field, it will actually scale my image which is not what I want either. Now if I put "2 px" by "3 px" of course it will massively scale my image, which again is not what I want.
What I want is to re-crop my image to a 2:3 ratio, WITHOUT scaling, AND without modifying DPI. Is this possible with the crop tool? It seems that my WxH numbers are required to have units after them and I don't want any of those units (inches, px, mm, etc). I want unitless cropping, basically cropping by ratio. Does this make any sense?
I have a work-around which involves batch resetting all my DPI's at the end of the session. But that adds another step to my workflow which is not a very elegant solution.
I want to make a circular cutout or circular crop on an image. This will then be used in another program that prints the label for a DVD/CD.
I have tried the crop tool but I can not get it to make a circle only ovals or squares.
