HW & SW: Nikon 3200: Apple MacBook Pro OS v. 10.8.5, Adobe Photoshop Elements 11, Adobe Lightroom 5, Adobe DNG Converter
I had a Nikon D60 and used a removable card to store images. No problem. One week ago, I bought a Nikon D3200 and still use the same memory cards I had used with the D60. I have taken about 100 pictures in Aperture, Shutter and Automatic mode, all in RAW format.
Am using Nikon Transfer to import the images from the card to the MacBook.
Photoshop will open JPEG images captured from the D3200 in the JPEG format, but not those captured in RAW format.
I can preview the images on the D3200, but when I download to the Mac, the images do not open in Photoshop Elements 11, or in Adobe DNG 8.2, or in Adobe Lightroom 5.
Photoshop failure message is: “Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw. Please visit the Camera Raw documentation for additional information.”
DNG Converter failure message is: “The source folder does not contain any supported camera raw files.”
Adobe Lightroom failure message is: “The files are not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom.”
I have downloaded most recent versions of Adobe Camera Raw and Adobe DNG. I have also uninstalled and then reinstalled Adobe Photoshop Elements 11. When I try to open or import the images, the same failure messages occur.

Recently I purchased a Nikon D3200 and I shoot in raw .NEF files using that also but Photoshop Elements 10 will not recognize those .NEF files to edit. The error I'm getting is saying the file type is not correct.

Jan 25, 2013About a month and a half ago, after a microsoft update, I cannot open .cdr files from the file/open list. When going to file/open, the programs hangs up, cannot even use "cancel", and have to go to Windows Task Manager to shut down the program. All is well until I try to open a file from file/open.
I can import .eps, and everything else seems fine.My work around is to open from My Documents --Which works fine. Just is a silly little aggravation.
I have uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired, etc....all the normal fixes.
Maya :: Won't Open / Save Files / Open Certain Menu
Jun 7, 2012I recently installed a student version of Maya 2012 on my home computer so I didn’t have to work from college for a project, but I have run into some issues.
Not sure what is going on with my Maya but it won't open files unless I actually go to it in the browser and double click on the file. Even once I have done that I can only save over it, save as doesn't work. I also can't create or set projects. There are probably more problems but these are the ones I noticed/really need.
This is what appears in my output window:
Could not find maya.utils._guiExceptHook.

GIMP :: (too Many Open Files) Error When Saving Or Open
May 6, 2013I'm using Gimp 2.8.4 on a MacBook Pro.
I have been working on an image file for several hours now, and as a result, there were MANY files open (probably over 30).
I attempted to save the file, and recieved the following error message:
"Could not read the contents of [folder name] Too many open files"
I then closed each of the open files except the file I was trying to save, but got the same results.
The same error message pops up when I try to open a file as well.

Mar 1, 2013I'm working with both Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 on a mac. I'm creating a graphic. The background is a (cartoonish) mouth and I finished it a couple of days ago. (It's an Illustrator file.) I've been working on the letters to go inside of the mouth, (Once I'm finished it'll look as though they're being crushed.) I scanned and edited small wooden letters in Photoshop, and now I would like to work with them with the background in Illustrator. I understand how to open a Photoshop file in Illustrator, but I don't want to open the document as a separate Illustrator file. Is there a way to open a file from Photoshop as a second layer?
Some of the letters repeat as well. Will I have to create two files for this, or can I open the same file twice?

Aug 23, 2013I'm studying Photoshop at home using Pearson's " Class in a Book", from Adobe. I'm now stuck in Chapter 10, editing Videos, because I cannot open two files needed to proceed with the next excercise. I'm not able to open 3 of the 9 files in Photoshop, even tried to drag, change format, etc. All the other files with formats like MP4 and JPG have no problem opening, only those with MP3 & MOV extensions. I Should note that I can open all the files directly from windows file explorer or using Bridge, through Quicktime.
Bellow, is the message i get when I try to move the file to Photoshop.
"Could not complete your request beacuse the video file could not be open"

Photoshop :: CS5 Will Not Open Files
Aug 15, 2013Photoshop CS5 will not open files. Occasionally if i try to open a .psd file that has already been created by double clicking on it in its folder, it will open but I will hardly be able to edit it. For example, the brush tool does not work, crop tool, resizing image etc. I had this problem 2 weeks ago. I uninstalled adobe creative suite, ran the adobe cloud cleanup tool and then reinstalled the programs and everything worked again. However after a week everything suddenly went back to the way it was again. Very frustrating! I might as well mention that at the same time as Photoshop "crashed" I also became unable to drag objects in Illustrator and InDesign.

I tried opening a file that I worked on a while ago and Photoshop opened, and I could see all of my layers on the right, but the window with the actual picture did not come up. I thought maybe there was something wrong with the file, so I tried opening a new file, but I had the same problem. It showed the background layer, but I couldn't see the actual image.
