Photoshop :: CS2 Scanning- Error With...
Sep 1, 2008
I have an Epson Perfection 4180 scanner which has worked for years. I moved, plug everything back in, the scanner works one time, and from then on, I get this error: "Could not complete the Import command because of an error with acquisition module interface."
I've searched around, and seen others with this problem, but, no real solution. From what I've read, it's a Photoshop issue. I've downloaded the TWAIN drivers and re-installed the scanner, and deleted Photoshop's preferences file. The scanner does work through the Windows Scanner Wizard. I've turned off the Windows Image Acquisition thing in the control panel, and then turned it back on.

I am aware of the 64 bit versus 32 bit issue. When I ugraded to Windows 7, 64 bit and CS 5.5, I did so because both Adobe and Microsoft indicated I would have to. In CS 5.5, the issue of the 32 bit versus 64 bit driver was not serious because--although Windows 64 bit had no trouble scanning and Photoshop 64bit did, I installed the Photoshop CS 5.5, 32 bit version, and it worked.
Today, CS5.5 disappeared, "Photoshop has ecnountered an error with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled GPU enhnacements. Check the video card manufacturer's website for the latest software. GPU enhancement can be enabled in the Performance panel of Preferences." Not really [it's not a driver problem], Photoshop won't stay on, it simply closes.

I want to scan from within CS4 x64, like we used to in the old days! I appreciate that TWAIN is making way for WIA, however, I can't find a way to scan from within photoshop and NOT have to immediately save the scanned image. In want to just scan and open, and then make the decision to save (or not) later on.

I've been using this product for a few years and only a few months ago I re-installed it on Windows 7 and a few days ago I closed it and it stopped working right when it says "Scanning for Plug-Ins". I haven't changed anything with the product. While I had it installed on the D-drive (The C and D got mixed up) it hadn't had a problem until a few days after continually hearing that the C: drive was full (leading to mass deletions of unused programs and files). Just today I had fixed the problem of the drives and the program had the same problem. I've tried the multiprocessor plug-in, uninstalling and reinstalling it, There are only a few oddities I can say happened during the reinstallation, it was unable to activate.

Running PS 7 on Windows XP.
Is it possible to do a multipage scan in Photoshop 7 and to have all the scanned pages saved as one PDF file. At the moment I can only find a way that gives me the same number of files as I have scanned in.
The reason I am having to do this is because I am having a problem with the scanning facility in Acrobat 8.

I want to scan gemstones on my computer to use on a webpage.
I scan the gem at 300 dpi ( I crop the preview image...then scan)
I then import into PS and adjust the image (contrast, colour etc)
Unfortunately, when the image is then used on my webpage, the resolution is terrible. The image on the web page is larger than the one in PS.

I have an Epson R200 printer and an Epson Perfection 1260 Scanner. Using Photoshop CS, how do I get a closest colour match between scanning an image, passing it through photoshop and printing it out on photo quality inkjet paper as close to the original as possible.
I'm scanning at 1400 dpi, what else do I need to do? I don't know anything about colour management or anything like that...

I created this horror movie poster for my Media Studies work at college, and I felt quite proud of it so I thought I'd scan it on to my home computer to put on myspace or something, but I scanned it using MS Paint and the image size came up really large so is there a way I can scan the image to the size it's supposed to be on Photoshop?
There's no import option or from what I can see there isn't.
I've got Photoshop CS3...

I just scanned a transparency in my EPSON 2450. It came out with some curves like a rainbow, I don't know how it is called. Is there any way to remove that without affecting the texture of the photograph? (these curves show over a piece of fabric and I really wanna keep the texture of the fabric).

Here is my hardware: Macbook pro 4 GB DDR3 core i5 with plenty of HD space Epson V700 scanner (6400 dpi scanning capability)
My Software: Adobe CS6 trial
What I want to do: Scan a typical photo that is 6 by 6 inches at 6400 dpi as a bitmap, for utmost quality
What I tried: File -> Import -> Images from device -> then selected my scanner, set it to scan at 6400 dpi and save as a bitmap
My problem: When the scanner head is done scanning and the progress bar for scanning the image completes and moves to the next step (presumably writing the image to the file), PS crashes and gives me an error log. It is far too detailed for me. I have no problem scanning images at lower resolutions like 1200 dpi. But this scanner is capable of 6400 dpi and I want to take full advantage of it. I cannot use the scanner software that came with teh scanner because tech support told me the scanner software has a 1.something GB file limit size. They told me 3rd party software like PS should be able to scan unlimited file sizes. I suspect the file size migh be too large (16 GB)
My question: Is this a bug in the trial or something? Should PS be able to scan a 6 by 6 inch photo at 6400 dpi and save it as a bitmap?
Any 1st thoughts? I imagine it would be useful to upload the error log. I can do that if it is ok to do so
I would lik eto scan this image at 6400 dpi.

I recently learned of what sounded like a wonderful Elements feature: Scan as many photos as you can fit on your scanner bed and Elements will divide the scan into individual photos. The key was to use the "Divide Scanned Photos" command on the Image menu. Sounds great, but that command is always grayed out. How come? And is there some way for me to make the command work?

I'm running PS CS3 on Vista Home Premium, 1.86Ghz Intel core 2 processor, and 4GB RAM.
I realise Vista only sees 3.3GB of this RAM, and I know Vista uses about 1GB all the time.
Question:
While running PS, and only PS, with no files open, I have 2GB of RAM, why will PS not let me scan a file that it says will take up 300Mb?
200Mb is about the limit that it will let me scan, but even then, the actual end product ends up being less than 100Mb. (around 70mb in most cases)I'm using a Dell AIO A920, latest drivers etc, and PS is set to use all avaliable RAM.
Not only will it not let me scan, once a file I've opened has used up "x" amount of RAM, even if I then close that file, "x" amount of RAM will STILL be unavaliable. This means if I scan something, I have to save it, close PS, then open it again before I can scan anything else.
Surely this isn't normal. Or am I being stupid and missing something obvious?
I've also monitored the memory usage during scanning using task manager and various other things, it hardly goes up at all, then shoots up to 70-80% once the 70ishMb file is loaded. Something is up because if that were true, I'd actually only have 1Gb of RAM, and running Vista would be nearly impossible.
It's not a Vista thing either as I had this problem when I had XP. In fact it was worse then, I could hardly scan anything, had to be very low resolution.

I have an Epson 3490 Scanner attached to my computer. I have a Mac OX 10.7 Lion Intel. I have Photoshop CS6. I want to scan directly into Photoshop using the FILE -- IMPORT feature in Photoshop CS 6.
Here is the problem I am having.
When I press the FILE button in Photoshop CS 6 and go down to IMPORT the words IMAGES FROM DEVICE are displayed instead of the name of my Scanner (Epson Perfection 3490) like it used to say in Photoshop CS 5.
I downloaded the TWAIN plugin from the Adobe site and put it where I was supposed to, put the name of my scanner is still not displayed. Also, when it does scan into Photoshop, it wants me to save it to another folder before I can open it up in Photoshop. It comes in as a .JPEG.
I want it just to straight into Photoshop as a.psd file so I can save it to whatever folder I choose.

I'm trying to scan a photo out of an old book to use in my own book. The photo looks lovely in the book, BUT when I scan it, it comes out all blotchy and no matter what effect I apply I cannot find a way to improve it.
I'm scanning using the "import" option and thence using a Canon scanner at 600dpi.I have tried it with the "unsharp mask" and "descreen" on or off, and all combinations, but the pic still looks rotten.

I'm looking to add a company logo to a poster design i've created in illustrator. But the company logo they've asked me to include on the design it too small & pixelates when stretched (as you may we know).
I'm trying to get round this problem... is there a way of scanning in the logo and importing to illustrator and converting it into a vector image to fit the desired size of my design?

I am an archivist. We have some old, rare documents from 19th century - collections of letters, diaries etc which I want to preserve electronically. I get excellent results when I use a scanner. However some of the documents are fragile and the use of digital photography would cause less damage.
I have been investigating this for some time and have got all sorts of advice - sometimes contradictory. Now this is the issue for me at the moment: I have some test photograph files (of documents) on my computer (which I photographed with a good digital camera and saved to computer.
Improving the output, removing background etc, is my issue. To what extent can I improve the photograph using Photoshop or some other similar program. I would love to submit one or two of these photo files to you who are expert and see what you can do with them. That would give me an idea of what I need. I am not sufficiently conversant with the photoshop program to do this myself.

In a moment of lax attention I've done something stupid to the Photoshop CS version (original 1) and told it to search C:/programfiles for plugins whereas I meant to tell it specifically where to look.
So now it crashes when it gets to the 'Scanning for Plugins' part and of course I can't alter it back to what it should be.
Now when I run Image Ready the plugins are still as normal...
System Restore doesn't change the settings. Uninstall of the Photoshop component doesn't put it right either.
(maybe uninstall/reinstall the entire CS suite - but I guess even then it will still have the bad settings)
So is it a registry thing and if so what needs to be done to stop it searching the entire hard drive programs for plugins.

I have a map that I had to scan in 8 parts.
Not all 8 parts came out the same so when I merge them, the parts are obvious.
I once saw a tut where by all photos used the same setting so that onced merged, you can't tell the difference.
What I need is the how-to. I'm so used to dealing with single photos that I can't remember how to save the right setting. I've tried a few things, but when I merged the map, it didn't all look seamless nor the same.

Since I upgrading my Mac to OS Mountain Lion 10.8 and downloaded Adobe CS 6 I have been unable to get my Epson Scanner to work properly. Since none of the drivers from the Epson and Adobe websites have worked so that I could scan from photoshop, I am looking into using third party software. Adobe mentioned VueScan in their instructions, but it is expensive and I don't like how it is laid out. It appears that SilverFast only works with 32 bit not the 64 required in CS6.
getting the Epson software to work on my machine? The scanner is an Epson Perfection v600 photo scanner, which is still being sold currently as something that works with new computers.

I am batch scanning 35mm slides 15 at a time using an Epson 1680. I have been playing with the various dpi's and scale to find the best settings so I can cut the slides and paste them into Powerpoint for a lecture. What I have been finding is that when I cut the slide from the scanned image (of 15 in the holder) and place it in my powerpoint slide and then enlarge it, it is too blurry.
I have tried enlarging the dpi to 2400 but the computer won't scan it. I seem to get OK images in powerpoint at 90dpi and 800% scale but I really want them sharper.
How can I do this? Is it best to scan the slides individually and not use the holder?
More importantly, although the slides look OK on my laptop how will they look when they are projected onto the big screen. I do't want them to be too blurry.
