Photoshop :: Ability To Read NEF Files From NIKON 5200
May 27, 2013
Just got a Nikon D5200. Photoshop and Bridge cannot read NEF files from this camera. It worked fine with my D3100 camera. When will we be able to read NEF files from a NIKON 5200?
Have new Nikon D600 and CS 4; read Adobe Camera Raw 7.2 is the one to download. Did that but still can't read my NEF files. Is there another version i should be using?
I need to know how to get Photoshop CS5 to read Raw files from my new Nikon D600 camera. I do NOT want to have to buy another version of Photoshop or have to buy Lightroom.
I am doing some editing work for a magazine. The lead editor had issues with adobe camera raw viewing some of my edits. The xmp files are there but for some reason they are not loading. We narrowed it down to just the Nikon D4 files. I just had her download a trial version of LR4 and we are getting the same issue. The xmp's are there in the same folder as the .nef files. Import into Lightroom, and all D4 files do not show my edits.
We are both running Lightroom 4.3, Camera Raw 7.3.
I bought a Nikon D600 but am unable read the NEF files read with my version of Lightroom 3 that runs on an older Mac Book which cannot be upgraded to LR4. If I buy a new Mac, can I upgrade to LR4 on the new machine or do I have to purchase a new version? If I can upgrade how do I transfer LR3 to the new machine. Also, I have a student version of Photoshop CS5 Extended. Can I purchase an upgrade to CS6 on a new machine?
In doing research I saw where both Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS6 had some problems with Apple's OS X 10.8. Have these been resolved yet?
If I improve a NEF-File in capture NX2 and save it as a NEF-file and afterwards will import these files into LR, then the changes are available on the LR Importscreen (great), but during the import-process in LR the changes - embedded in the NEF-file - disappear, and I just see the original NEF-file before the changes.
In order to read and edit a picture taken in RAW format by a Nikon D7000, using Photoshop Element 8, what should I do? Any plug in that I should download?
Why Paint Shop Pro x4 will NOT read jpg files directly from the Camera?? The directory tree will show the camera/the SD card/the directories for the pictures ... but No jpg pictures.
I can read and copy them directly from windows and Paint Shop will recognize and read the copied files. Not a big issue, just a nuisance. It would be nice to pick the pictures I want, directly from the camera.
i'm doing a large project that requires me to import 40 to 50 image files into separate edge documents. (about 30 documents each with 40-50 sequenced images.) each time i import a batch of images, the order gets messed up. in finder they are labeled as filename01.jpg, filename02.jpg etc. when i import them into edge, it scrambeles the files for no apparent reason (see image below) and i have to delete them and re-add them from the images library to get them in order.
why don't they just import in order?
as you can see, i moved file _10000 to the top (it was somewhere in the middle) and the rest of the files are in no apparent order. this is extremely annoying as the files were named as such to keep them in order!! is this a bug, or just the way that edge thinks importing files works?
Deleting files and saving files brings up an error message. Files can't be deleted from lightroom which makes editing a nightmare. Also Saving Files (raw of jpeg), brings up an error message everytime.
I have recently replaced my hard disk on my i Mac and having installed CS3 plus Mountain Lion operating system it appears that CS3 no longer reads the Nikon raw (NEFF) files. It was all right before I re-installed everything on my new disk and worked perfectly so the systems are compatible with the raw files.
This discussion is actually a follow on to an earlier one where I thought the issue was resolved. I am using CS5 extended 64 bit with WIN 7 64bit and ACR version 6.7.
I verified the ACR version checking for updates and was informed I am up to date. According to the ADOBE site ACR v 6.7 is available to open Nikon D800e raw files. However when I try and open these raw files there is a message that the camera model is not supported.
I am planning to buy a Nikon D800e, and I am told that NEF files from this model are not supported with ACR and CS5. Is this correct and is there a workaround?
