In lieu of a licensed copy of Photoshop, I use Paint.NET for my general design brainfarts. I've used it for a few years now and only now have found something I dislike - a lack of word/text wrapping functionality.
So I decided I'd pop in and even remembered my account details on the first go (woohoo! This never happens) and drop a request for this functionality, as much as I hate requesting things in general due to a patholo--moving on. My vision is thus:
Step 1. Enable Word Wrapping (a button up here, assumedly). This would ideally have a dropdown also allowing you to change whether it wraps on whitespace only or mid-word with a hyphen. Step 2. Make a selection. If there is no selection, it wraps to the image border. Step 3. Type. When the text hits the right (or left, for right-aligned text, or exceeds the width of the selection/image for center-aligned) it will wrap at the appropriate point. When out of vertical space the text would merely be cut off as it is now. Bonus points: Make center-aligned text centered relative to the selection. Justified text would also be possible when there are given bounds, but who even uses that? Sheesh.
As it is now, text is based only on an anchor point (and is rasterized only - no editable text is a bearable downside for the gigabyte of memory I save from what I last saw of Photoshop, but that's not saying I don't often want for it), having text based on selection bounds if a selection exists would be a very user-friendly way of making it all much more powerful. I know Paint.NET isn't a word processor but nicer text handling would be a big plus for those of us who use it for more design-oriented purposes. As noted, text being editable objects (I don't much like the 'text layer' thing, but I can't honestly think of a better way) would be cool too.
I was using the warp brush tool (Paint Shop Pro X4) and for a stupid manipulation the tool bar where I had the value related with the brush tool slipped away. Now I 'm not able to recover it and I cannot change the dimension of the brush of the warp brush tool. I don't know what to do and I'm in trouble. I have tried all the tool bars but it doesn't appear anymore. How can I change the dimension of the warp brush tool without that?
I'm Trying to Wrap Text Around a Coin, I've searched A lot of the Tutes, but Found that Not one, up to now, has Wrapped text around anything? Do I need a Plugin? Or Am I just Too Brand new?
I have a number of textures of marble, stone, rock... much of which I use in construction projects within Second Life where I am a Builder.
I have a small project in the works to produce a stone structure; that has some text engraved into the stone. I have the text typed up in MS Word. But when I copy/paste that into Paint.net; there is no left/right/center alignment; and the text has no 'word wrap'... it just pastes it all as one single reeealllllly long single spaced line... like there is no bounding box to contain it. Further more, I am not sure how I could make it appear as though it were 'engraved' ...
Now I do know how to make/add Layers... I use Paint.net often to manipulate many of my existing Second Life textures that I buy from within Second Life, and upload onto my computer to 'tweak' them. Sometimes I'll add an alpha transparency layer of Spanish Moss to a Stone Wall, for example, then re-upload that back into SL.. and I now have a building with stone walls, and spanish moss hanging over the walls to give it more unique look.
I know I can create a "layer" of Text, that can then be added over a stone or marble texture image...But I can't figure out how to get that text to wrap or center, or appear engraved
How would I acquire these features, is there a plugin that does all this for text?
Develop a selection tool that can go on pixel level. If that didnt make sense I'll describe what it would do...its basically the brush tool but instead of laying down color it makes a selection.I think this will be useful for sprite artists like myself.I am well aware of the lasso tool but its just to confusing for me and slows me down and i know about the global selection option.
This morning, my Selection Tool (the filled-in arrow) is acting like a Direct Selection Tool (the hollow arrow), but only when I click and drag on a group. It ends up select the anchors within the group rather than the whole group itself.
I've checked my preferences, quit and relaunched Illustrator a few times, and nothing seems to fix it. The problem briefly went away a few minutes ago, but came back when I quit and relaunched for good measure.
It's happening in Illustrator CS 5.1. I have CS6, and that version works fine, but I'm waiting on some plugins to be updated for it, so I'd like to use CS 5.1. I'm also running the latest Suitcase Fusion 4.
How the tools all have the option to reset to default. I was doing something earlier that required the selection tool and I saw that it had been changed, so I clicked to reset and nothing happened. All my other tools reset just fine.
I know you can custom size the selection tool by pixel position, but Is it possible to set the custom size of the selection tool to inches? For example I would like to have a custom size of 5 x 7 inches so I can place over an area and simple copy and then paste that 5 x 7 selection as a new image.
Whenever I try to resize a text box with the selection tool, it won't allow me to resize. I tried the text tool as well, but it didn't work. I don't want to resize the text, just show text that is hidden. I'm currently using CS4.
I have designed a C# application to To Print I Cards Of School. Here I am sending data from my application to a CDR FILE (Already Created ) Which Contains ADDRESS Text Field..Now I Need to Print Address(which contains 60 characters or more) on this Text field .
I Have Used The following c# Code.. To Replace Address text field that contains text 'Address '.....
s.Text.Replace('Address',"Text To be replaced .......")...here s is Active shape...
This Works Fine But How can i WRAP TEXT....of Address field.
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. I'm on the right layer, selected some text with the rectangle, clicked the move tool & tried to drag the selection (have the little hand showing so I'm in the right corner) but the box just expands the contents. (I tried both move tools, although I've no idea what the difference between them is.
I have used the move tool a little in the past, and it worked.
Using the selection tool i should be able tp reduce or shrink the size of the box or an image as a whole without changing the format. Iam not able to do that. I think i disabled something in my illustrator.
I'm drawing a small map, and in several places there is text rotated so as to fit next to a slanted line. The problem comes when I decide to move the text, usually along a line parallel to itself, or perhaps in some other direction.
As far as I can tell, the only way to select the text is with the lasso tool, which can be very difficult, because of the close tolerances. Maybe the easiest way is simply to erase the text and re-create it. So, is there some way to rotate the selection box, so I can grab the slanted text easily?
Way back when I originally bought PSP X3, I used it for a short while then went back to X2. Mostly because the X3 text tool would not remember text I had used. Now I've recovered from a hard-drive death and want to move forward and use my X3.
I have to replace text in a banner image with different text. Maybe if I upload the banner, it would be more useful...
I have to replace "Customer Satisfaction" with some other text. The text is embedded in the image; so, it's not that easy, at least for me, to replace it without making it look amateurish. Of course, I duplicated the background and worked on that layer.
First method I tried was using the clone stamp, zooming in to 1600% to painstakingly erase it. But then when I zoom out, the background where the text was placed over does not match its surroundings and looks like someone shaded it. If you zoom in real close, before making any changes to it, you'll see that the "green" (what the RGB is) touching the text is different than the "green" in areas not touching text.
Next, I thought of using the magic wand to select the text for me and that looked liked it worked. But the problem is once I select it, how to delete it or blend it in with the background. That is, if I select the "C" in "Customer Satisfaction" with the magic wand, for instance, pressing delete does nothing. Then I found I can fill the area, after I select it with the magic wand; however, what the RGB combination is of the background. Is there a way I can find out what the RGB value is of the background, then apply that to my fill color and effectively delete the "Customer Satisfaction" text?
Once I'm able to get rid of the text, I can use the text editor plugin tool I downloaded to replace the text.
That's my logic, anyway. How I can replace text in an image, preferably as neatly as possible.
I have a .jpg file with an image, which I copied from the Clipboard. I now want to add text NEXT to the image. That is I now want to type text and position the text after is typed.
When I use the Text Tool, the text cannot be moved.
When I click on an object to retrieve it's extended data, the data keeps writing to the right, it does not return to the next line, when the text approaches the end of the screen. Very difficult to analyze information.
I am setting a book in Indesign CS2.I use "Text frame options" > align > justify on all my pages. On a page that was so justified, I inserted a picture using the "text wrap". Soon as I did, the text stopped being aligned along the foot of the page (which looks rotten, because the facing page is justified and so the spread is now no longer aligned.
I tried to I use "Text frame options" > align > justify again, but now the option to align is now greyed out.
When I click on an object to retrieve it's extended data, the data keeps writing to the right, it does not return to the next line, when the text approches the end of the screen.
First I am a new user of InDesign so it might just be me. I am trying to use text wrap and it works fine with a text box. When I try to do the same thing on another page with a link text, text wrap does not work.
I am a new user to paint.net, because the tool I used for complex image manipulation does not run on the OS of my new machine. Although I could easily purchase the newest version, I needed work on some pictures now. Paint.net was easily available and does most of the thins I need at the moment. In addition, it is officially supported at my work place, so it's a good idea to learn how to use it.
Paint.net has some great features and a cute UI, but there are some issues I would like to see improved. The one at the top of my list is the font preview. I am doing some text on a number of pictures and want to check out some fonts. Unfortunately I can't change the sample text in the font list (at least I do not know how).
However, meanwhile I found a even better function (actually the way I would like to see it). When the font list is open, I can scroll through the list and the text will instantly updated. Cool.
Great thing would be to move the color picker out from the tool box into the color selection, so that it would be always available. Also it would be useful to not only pick one pixel sometimes but the average of a greater area.
I have been continually annoyed, when creating a vector mask-heavy document, with trying to select vector mask points by dragging a rectangle only to find that it instead selects a layer higher up which has a larger vector mask.
The only workaround is to manually select the points of my mask or to drag a rectangle from outside the canvas, meaning I have to zoom out or scroll to the edge - sometimes annoying if I am zoomed in quite far.
I know that the move tool can be set to automatically select a layer, depending on what part of the image is clicked, but why is there not an option to turn this off for vector editing?
If you look closely in the attached picture, there is a spot of light blue on the player's helmet, that looks like a mistake (think it should look like the grass behind it)...though it actually may be part of his helmet.
Regardless, I'd like to take it out. My idea was to select the blue with the quick selection tool, then bring that selection out to the grass, select the grass with that size/shape of selection, copy/paste and then bring the grass selection into the blue part so it looks like grass in what was the blue part.
The problem is I don't seem to be able to move the selection without taking the blue with it (so it's not an empty selection and therefore can't select a piece of the grass.)
I paste a picture into Paint.net. That works fine. Resize it, fantastic works just as I want it to. Click "text", choose a colour.. no text. Just blank. So I click text again.. blank. I choose a different colour.. still blank. It's forever making me type invisible text.
So I have to close paint.net, re-open. Text is magically working again. So I decide to make the text first, THEN add the pictures. So I write the text, all goes fine. I add the pictures, all works fine. I go to move the text and pictures around to align them properly.. nothing will move! It just creates invisible squares or makes me try and write text again, so I click on the history on the right to select what I want to move, and everything suddenly vanishes and disappears!
I know this program is freeware so I've no right to complain, but it really is infuriating when people release software that doesn't even work. I may not have paid for the program but I do have to pay my ISP for the bandwidth I just wasted downloading this pile of tosh.
My text will not wrap around a map that I have created in CorelDraw. The map consists of lines (depicting roads, streams, and railroads that were drawn using the freehand pen) and place names and titles. In both contour and square wrap settings, the text box only recognizes the text objects on the map and ignores all the line objects. I have grouped everything on the map and it shows as one object. Is there a simple solution so that my text will properly wrap around the map. This problem is holding up my publication schedule!
i need to put some perspective into my text, but i have no idea how to do it. the image i have is a wall from an angle. i need to know how to make the text look like it is on the face of the wall. any ideas?
if there are not to clear, post a reply and i will try to scan the image with what i want drawn on it and then upload it here.
I have a an image and i want to wrap text around it to form a love heart shape similar to this image: URL....Is it possible to do this in bespoke/manual way, or is it a case of using various degrees of the arc functionality?
