I do scroll saw work and often I want to make a pattern smaller or larger. I have been able to down size one of my patterns by 65% but when I try to print it it comes out the same as it was to begin with. I have tried to save the new image in a file and then go back to it to try to print it and it comes out at its original size. how to save these new size patterns so I can print them.
View 1 RepliesI have a tag block that calls out details. The attributes are the detail number and the page the detail is located. I was wondering if there was a way that the bounding box around it could grow or shrink depending on the width of the text.

Is there a plugin that would expand a selected area, so as to create an outline around the object? Like Select > Shrink or Select > Grow in GIMP.
I just don't like having to open GIMP just to do that every time, I'd like to have it right in PDN.
I made one image (a landscape type drawing) in one file, and another image (a computer drawn person) in another file. Apparently my original background sizes for the two files were WAY different and when I tried to "paste into new layer" the person I'd drawn onto the landscape image, that person's head covered the ENTIRE landscape! Of course I held Shift, grabbed the corner and tried to downsize the person to fit the landscape.... and lost TONS of detail in the process, leaving my little person looking extremely pixelated and difficult to recognize.
Is there a way to make the landscape and the person fit each other without losing detail?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI use Paint.NET for cut background from photos of Mask for this nice project: Masks In photoshop i can use expand selection for cutting 1 pixel more then i just selected. In Paint.Net i usualy skip this step and images has white/black thread around the mask.

How to correct this problem, is there way to expand selection for 1-3 pixels ?
100% means that it scales up to 100%, then stops.
Window means that it scales up to the entire window, however it only goes up to 100%.
I have a scan of a book I need to read for school. The professor scanned the book face down so each page is two pages of the book and it is rotated clockwise of how it should be read. I am trying to get some kind of OCR to work on it, so I want to get each page of the book separate. The goal is to get to the point where I can read and underline text on my Kindle.
Here's where paint.net comes in. I have already taken screen shots of the pdf and split the pages into separate images using ctrl+alt+V so they are already split. Now I am trying to make them all stacked on top of each other like say a Word document would be. I cannot figure out how to expand the canvas to allow the image I want to paste in to show up. It only shows up on top of the image that is already there. I can expand the canvas, but anywhere the new image crosses outside the perimeter of the one already there, it only shows the gray checkered pattern.
Plugin that I can use to contract or expand a corner of a photo or texture ..?

The first image above is the result of drawing paths then expanding appearance and then live paint->make and filling shape with live paint bucket fill. The second image is the exact same artwork after selecting the object and clicking live paint->expand. I did this because I want to then group my expanded live paint object to be able to select the fill I just created.
This artwork is meant for screen render only in a flash game I am making, I don't want to print it. The first image above is the desirable look that I am going for. I have figured out that I can expand my live paint object (and it looks bad like the second image) and then alter the fills the way I want and select everything again and go live paint->make and then the black strokes look great again. My question is, is this normal? Do I always have to make an object live paint once I am ready to export my image to png format?
By the way, replicate what I have done by following my instructions, although the artifacts around the black strokes can only really be seen when your fill color is pretty dark (like my dark green fill). With lighter colors you probably wouldn't even notice the artifacts around the black strokes. The set-up for my document is: Color Mode: RGB PPI: 72 for screen rendering. I have initializing turned on (which I want and need).
When I go to create a File/New Canvas, sometimes the canvas area shrinks a lot.
Is it possible to keep the original canvas size ?
I am not liking the new features of X4 text. First, is there anyway to make the default text use the dialog box with holding down the shift key? Second, I am so use to previewing font styles by simply highlighting my text and then scrolling through the fonts drop down menu with version 10. This seems impossible with X4, MAJOR BUMMER and it really slows me down.

I am having some issues trying to live paint whilst in the pattern area of CS6. I have created a pattern which I would now like to colour. I am able to colour some areas like the spots on the plants head, but no ther gaps inbetween. Normally when not in the pattern area I can merge live paint and work with all the spaces but I cant do this for some reason. I need to work with the pattern whislt in this mode to ensure that the design is correct.

Whilst I ma here I am also having a bit of trouble with the oattern swatch. The pattern has been designed for a printed interior wallpaper. In the below image the blue box (follow the green arrow) is the full pattern repeat set at a 1/4 drop. I need that full square rather than a swtach. So effectively I need a 'Tile' that I can then ready for print. The reason for this is that it will be printed on wallpaper (52cm x 10m) and each roll needs to match up either side (with a 1/4 drop)

I have CS5 extended. I know with coral draw I can use a paint bucket to fill an area with a premade pattern and on CS5 I found the pattern stamp tool where I can paint a pattern but is there a way to dump or fill a set area with a pattern? I find when I paint a pattern even the smallest mistake of painting a section twice can lighten or darken the pattern.

Is there a way that I can "unwrap" the image from the vase and to have the picture appear flat? I tried manually doing it with warp grid but it was a lot of work and did not look very smooth.

I routinely do this in normal objects, using the "~" key trick, but this only seems to work globally, on a Live Paint object (scales all pattern fills, not just one cell).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got a new computer (Windows 7) and I don't like the default "Paint" program that comes with it. I've been using the Windows XP paint program for a long time and Paint.Net was the closest thing I could find to it.
I don't use Paint to edit photos or create super detailed artwork. I use it to draw little things (the image size is usually 50x50 or 100x100 pixels) and zooming in to 400%-800%. I've used paint.net a few times but I was wondering if there was a place in the program that would let me set preferences. It would just save a little time making it more convenient and less frustrating.
These are the things that I would like to change:
1: When moving a selected item it automatically leaves a "checker board" pattern on the image. It's relatively easy to fix with the "Paint Bucket" tool. Though if there was an option to make it only leave the default area white it would be a time saver.
2: When moving a selected item it will automatically replace the image beneath where you place it. In the Windows XP program there was an option to either replace an image or to replace all other colors except white (255green+255red+255green on the custom color spectrum). Is there an option like that in this program?
3: After moving a selected image (using the "rectangle select" tool then the "move selected pixels" tool) is it possible to simply de-select the selected image without having to click on the "rectangle select" tool and right clicking? In other words, being able to move an image, deselect the image, then automatically return the tool to "line" tool?
4: While using the "Line/Curve" tool the 4 click and drag points automatically appear on it to make it "curve-able" so is there a way to just leave it as a solid line without those 4 selectable points appearing?
5: Is there a way that I can make "Line Tool" my default cursor instead of pencil?
I created a logo in Photoshop CS6 (4500 x 4500 pixels) and need to now shrink it so that it may be posted on a web page. I need to shrink the image to: 50 x 50, 75 x 75 and 100 x 100 pixels. I have tried to resize the image, but have not had much success as the images always come out highly pixelized with white space around it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a older graphics program called Picture Publisher. I used this for years until I eventually moved over to PS. The grow / shrink mask tool in PP is easy to use but I cannot figure out how to do this in PS. Take the letter B in the upper left corner. I can use the mask tool on the B and shrink it, leaving me with the outline of the B. I can shrink or grow the mask by indicating how many pixols to shrink or grow. For the life of me I can't seem to do this in PS. Presently I do it in PP then open the graphic in PS wher I can then use it. Is there a way to accomplish this in PS?

When I asked what formats they allowed they told me to send the PSD file. This is going to sound dumb, but is there a way to shave .3 from the file, yet keep the content? Maybe resize the file just a bit?
