Lightroom :: Custom Camera Profiles Have Stopped Appearing In ACR 7.3?
Dec 13, 2012I've been using custom profiles that I created using a ColourChecker Passport for sometime now. I just updated LR and ACR to the latest versions, and I've noticed that they are no longer selectable under the Camera Calibration tab - I just get the standard list of profiles for my camera (Nikon D7000).
I checked in the the relevant folder for LR and they weren't there, but they are in the ACR folder. I copied them across to the LR folder as well, but this has had no effect. In both cases, they're in the root-level folder for all profiles, so in LR's case, they're in C:Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.3/resources /CameraProfiles. This is where both the CCP and Adobe DNG Profile Editor have previoulsy placed them by default - I've never needed to place them in the actual camera model folder itself. Both applications have always found them there without issue.

When sending a raw image from lightroom to photoshop all I see is a blank photoshop window. If opening direct in photoshop it goes to camera raw first. I have just updated to the latest camera raw.
Lightroom :: 5 - Previews Not Appearing In Web Module
Oct 7, 2013Veteran LR user here. Since updating, LR 5 consistently causes snags (for us) when creating web galleries. Here's the workflow: after editing raw files and applying settings, we have a nice folder of images cropped and ready to preview with client.
Now, when we go to the Web Module, the previews are grayed-back in the Filmstrip, and images won't appear in any of the web gallery templates (either custom ones we designed or the preset versions.) We've tried everything from flagging and staring images to get them to appear. Also save metadata to all the images in the folder.
The only thing that seems to work is to close LR5--with backup and catalog optimization--then, we re-open LR5. That seems to "free up" the Web Module. Upon reopening LR5, our folder of images suddenly appears when we go to the Web Module.
This is an unacceptable work around b/c closing and optimizing takes alot of time. Making web proofing galleries used to be a snap in previous versions of LR, now we're stumped in LR5 trying to figure out what we're doing wrong.
Lightroom :: 5.3 - XMP Files Suddenly Appearing
Jan 7, 2014Today when I was exploring the options renaming in library mode in order to keep the development settings my images have. Suddenly, on my hard drive I saw an entire photo folder filled with xmp files! No xmp files were visible before this and I have checked my catalog settings to make sure that writing to xmp files was not checked.
I don't use separate xmp files - Is there a way to merge the xmp files with their associated photo file? Can I delete them without loosing my develop settings and key words?
I have used Lightroom since v2 and currently on v5.3. Have been upgrading regularly and everything was working perfectly until today.
Lightroom :: Dodging - Blotches Appearing
Sep 3, 2012i've had this problem intermittently with about every version of LR i've had, since 1...but it seems to come and go. when i dodge a face, or a part of the image, i get these wierd blotches on the image.

Nov 14, 2012I am having some issues with surface profiles on a dreffed alignment no updating dynamically.
Currently it requires me to set them to static, then back to dynamic and they update.
I am well aware of the issue of dreffed surface profiles staying static. I am using the work around of dreffing in the surface and sampling in the drawing using the dreffed alignment.

Lightroom :: How To Remove Captions Appearing Over Photo
Mar 31, 2013For some reason, the photo captions have started appearing in quite large font over the top left of the photo in Develop. How do I remove them? And why did they suddenly appear? (the answer to the first will probably answer the second).

Nov 6, 2012I have lightroom 4.2 and have just been going through my photos to pick some out for a project, and I've found that some of my files have corrupted while looking at them. They were perfect before, and had used them for a number of years without a problem.
It was not the transfer, as I was using these photos before from as far back as 2008 (ones before this have not corrupted yet)

Jul 3, 2012I'm using Lightroom 4.1 and Photoshop CS5 Extended on Mac OS 10.6.8.
Recently images opened in Photoshop from Lightroom are not recognizing the distortion correction when "enable profile corrections" is ticked for any lens.
I've tried reinstalling Lightroom; no difference. However, chromatic abberation corrected in Lightroom is recognized in Photoshop.

Mar 25, 2013I have three seperate catalogs on my desktop, each with different collections, clients etc. Generally I'll use 'import from another catalog' when I want to import a new shoot from my laptop. This works great, however sometimes I find that all of my smart collections from another catalog suddenly appear in the catalog that I am using e.g I'm using my Sculpture catalog, I import a new sculpture shoot. It imports and shows up fine but so does 20 smart collections from my Portfolio catalog. The 'alien' Portfolio smart collections obviously show as holding 0 images (as the images are where they should be - in the Portfolio catalog). Is it something to do with a preference file that all catalogs access?

Dec 16, 2011I recently went bi-platform (IMac and Windows computers being used). I have a home network. My Lightroom cat and all my images originally resided on my Windows computer's harddrives (four on board). After purchasing the IMac, I installed Lightroom on it and copied my cat files to it as well. All my photos continue to reside on my Windows computer's four internal harddrives so I turned on Sharing on the Windows computer for a test drive. (Yep, the photos are backed up to external drives). Anyway, when I launched my cat on the IMac in Lightroom, the thumbs and corresponding data appear just fine but when I point the thumb to the photo file on the shared harddrive, the thumb in the catalog disappears. Major bummer! Fortunately, I haven't done a bulk "find" otherwise I would have lost the entire catalog contents.
Will Lightroom not work with photos stored on shared internal harddrives via home network?? I have read that it does work with photos stored on external harddrives but I would prefer to keep my photos on the four internal harddrives.

Sep 22, 2012I shoot with Canon EFS 55-250 and get the image as a JPG and CR2.
In the RAW file the EF-S 55-250 is recognized and selected the correct profile. In the JPG file, the lens is detected but the lens profile is set to mark = None, model = None. While I can make the change to Canon but still does not choose the lens EFS 55-250. It is missing. The list contains only 14 lenses. For RAW files, the selection includes a lot more Canon lenses.Why the EFS 55-250 exists only for RAW files and not for JPG? Are the profiles different?

Our assignment is to take photo paper from three different manufactures and download the ICC Profiles for each of our papers chosen. Let me tell you this is not as easy as it seems! Where I can find the profiles for Adobe PS for different types of photo paper. Each manufacture only gives the ICC profile for their products. No scanned profiles are available.

Aug 16, 2013I have a brand new Macbook Pro with Retina Display and am running CS6, shooting with a Mark III in full resolution raw format. Focus is on in camera but when I open the images in Photoshop, they do not appear super sharp when zoomed in.
Is this a display issue or a program issue or something else? In the past I can usually get the images so sharp that I can see every pore and hair.

Jan 4, 2012I have a set of precious digital images, they are actually fairly low-res scans of prints but they are irreplaceable and cannot be re-scanned.
The images exhibit the following issues and I don't know how to fix them:
1) In the LR import dialogue box they show up as "Preview unavailable for this file".
2) When I attempt to import to LR, I get the error "The following files were not imported because they could not be read".
3) If I open the file in Photoshop CS5, I get the warning "The embedded ICC profile cannot be used because the embedded ICC profile is invalid. Ignoring the profile" - if I ignore, PS can open the file but of course the colour profile is missing and the images look universally awful.
Curiously however the images DO provide a preview in Windows Explorer, and if I open them with the infinitely inferior Windows Live Photo Gallery, they open correctly and the colours are as they should be.
This all leads me to believe that there is something wrong with these files which Windows is OK with but Adobe is not. Since I do not have the paper prints, cannot rescan, and do not know the workflow process applied, I have absolutely no idea whether this happened at scanning time or subsequently.
HOWEVER surely, in this day and age, there must be a tool which allows me to package the information Windows can read and put it back into the file where it should be so that Adobe can read the same thing?
Lightroom :: Odd Effect With Camera Profiles?
Jan 30, 2013how a raw file looks in LR straight out of the camera using the Adobe Standard profile.
and this is how it looks with the profile set to Camera Standard. It seems as though the Adobe Standard profile is clipping the green channel in the magenta shades for some reason.
Clearly switching to another profile will solve it but my presets often set the profile so it's a bit of a nightmare.

Mar 12, 2012I shoot RAW with a Canon 5D Mark II. I am using Lightroom 3. All of the sudden I can't find my camera profile settings in the Develop Module under the Camera Calibration Panel. They used to be there and now they are gone. "2010" is selected under the Process bar, but only Matrix shows up as my available Camera Profiles. What did I do to make them disappear? I can't think of anything that I could have done. Haven't done much except edit photos and now my profiles are missing! How can I get my camera profiles back?
