Lightroom :: 4.1 - Profile Corrections Not Appearing In Photoshop
Jul 3, 2012
I'm using Lightroom 4.1 and Photoshop CS5 Extended on Mac OS 10.6.8.
Recently images opened in Photoshop from Lightroom are not recognizing the distortion correction when "enable profile corrections" is ticked for any lens.
I've tried reinstalling Lightroom; no difference. However, chromatic abberation corrected in Lightroom is recognized in Photoshop.

Under Linear Curve, I do not have the "channel choice" option in LR4.4. (I just upgraded)
Also, I seem to be missing "Enable Profile Corrections" from Lens Corrections.

In Development module in LR4.4, viewing a Fuji X100s raw file (converted on import to DNG) I tick the box for "Enable Profile Corrections" under "Lens Corrections," and select "Auto" from the "Setup" menu. I would have thought that LR would pick up the X100s profile, but no, nothing happens. If I choose "Fujifilm" from the "Make" dropdown, I can find the X100 (not X100s) profile manually. The profile's probably pretty similar, but still, I'm wondering why my install of 4.4 doesn't have the X100s profile in place?
While I'm at it, I'll ask this too -- I recently bought the new Nikkor 35mm 1.8G ED (the new full frame 35mm Nikon lens, not the trusty 35mm 1.8DX) and there's no profile for that lens in my LR4.4 either.
Finally, I note that when I choose "Check for Updates" from the "Help" menu in LR, I'm told there are no updates available.

I use Lightroom 3.6. The "lens profile corrections" does not have my lens in the drop-down menu. Is there a way other than using the Adobe Lens Profile Creator Tool to create this profile? The lens is the Nikon AF-S DX NIkkor 18-105mm F3.5-5.6 G ED VR, and I use the Nikon D90 dslr. I only shoot JPEGs.

I'm using Lightroom 4, currently waiting to upgrade to 4.4. However, I'm having a problem not finding any of my lens profiles listed in the lens correction control panel. If I check the box, "Enable Profile Corrections" and then select from the "Lens Profile" dropdown menu, I get a list of only six available lens brands: Apple, Canon, Nikon, Sigma, Sony, and Tamron. This is odd, because when I view the package contents for the software under Package Contents > Contents > Plugins > Resources > Lens Profiles - ALL the lenses that I use (Pentax) ARE listed there. Why then will they not show up in the interface of the actual software when running?

Why does checking "Profile corrections" require to select the manufacturer "Tamron" to automatically detect my Tamron 24-70 F/2.8 Di VC USD A007N? After I pick "Tamron", the lens is properly detected.
As far as I know, Exif-information holds all necessary information on the lens. The Nikon Lens ID value 'FE 48 37 5C 24 24 DF 0E' uniquely refers to that lens.

I have created default settings by serial number for my Canon Mark III 1ds which include enabled lens profile corrections. I then created a user preset with these default corrections. Next I imported a folder of RAW images shot with this same Canon camera with the user profile checked as part of the import. When I switch to the Develop module and check the Lens Corrections panel, I see that although it is checked for each file, the actual make, model and profile are not populated.
Is this a bug or am I overlooking something on import? I understand that in LR 4, you can apply specific lens and camera calibration profiles to camera serial numbers (noise reduction etc too).

I'm creating finished roadway profiles by setting the PVIs then going back and inserting vertical curves (Free Vertical Parabola, PVI Based). When I insert the vertical curve, it displays as 1-5 tangents depending on length (not a smooth parabola). I've changed the curve tessellation distance under the Edit Profile Style - Design tab, but it doesn't smooth it out. What am I missing here. I don't have this problem in other drawings and I'm using the same template/drawing settings.

In LR 3 I had the option to select Leica in the lens profile and then select from a short list of available lenses to correct the image. In LR 4.3 I can not find Leica anymore in the pull down menu and therefore I can not select any lens profiles to use as corrections.
Where can I find the missing camera manufacturer files and profiles for Leica? How can I load the missing profiles into LR 4.3.

All of a sudden, nearly all profiles have disappeared. I first noticed this with my Sony RX1, when I went to apply the profile correction, and there was nothing. Usually the program identified the camera automatically. When I looked at old pictures, it was the same, nearly. If I used "custom" then it would give me only Nikon and/or Sony, but only one lens for each camera, not relevant to what I had used to take the photograph. For some pictures it would recognize the lens, but it would not give me options to change it (if I wanted to).

I would like to inform all about an (in my view) incorrect behaviour of LR:
In order to speed up my workflow i disable detail and lens corrections for all images immediately after the import (select all, auto sync is on, turn off detail and lens corrections). With this panels turned off I can do basic operations like cropping etc much, much quickier. I shoot badminton sport and have to process hundreds of images. After the basic corrections I re-enable detail and lens corrections for all images which should restore the previous settings of this panels or at least the default (ISO specific) settings (which is the same in my case). But the "Remove Chromatic Aberrations" remains off, even if it was on before and on by default for all my lenses! I consider this to be a bug.

In the Lens Corrections Tab, below the checkbox "Enable Profile Corrections" there is a drop-down menu to choose a setup option (Default/Auto/Custom).Unfortunately I cannot find any information on what the difference between these options is and hence when to choose which of these options.
It seems to make no difference whatever option I choose.

I keep hearing conflicting reports about how Lightroom handles lens corrections for the Fuji X100s. Some say you need to use the X100 profile while others say that Lightroom applies the corrections automatically, behind the scenes, based on info embedded in the raw file itself and that selecting the X100 profile would only "double up" on the corrections. Others have said that there is no X100s profile yet but NOT to use the X100 profile because it might make things worse since the sensor has changed and the new X-Trans sensor and lens combination would likely need different corrections than the old one.

I use mostly .tiff files in LightRoom since my camera isn't supported by LR.In previous versions of LR (including 4.2) i opened each lensprofile i needed and changed:
stCamera:CameraRawProfile="True" to stCamera:CameraRawProfile="False"
In earlier versions i only changed the first appearance of the line above, but i have also tried to change all apearences in each file - but nothing happens, the lenses doesn't appear in the lens profile model list.
Which worked flawlessly until i updated to LR 4.3 ...

In the below print screen, the lens should be 70-200 f2.8, which normally is found. The only difference with this photo is that it was accidently shot as a JPG and not RAW. I dont see how that makes a difference since the metadata still lists the correct lens as you can see on the screenshot:
The lens profile defaulted to "None". And you can see the dropdown I need to use when this happens. When I select "Nikon", the profile is USUALLY then enabled, but not always.
This has stopped working in the past for unknown reasons. If I "enable" a whole day of photos from multiple lenses and bodies --that is when it is mostly likely to fail (even though these lenses all have profiles). Perhaps a better question is how does the lookup logic work in the first place? I tend to take it on faith when a product's features work until I'm forced to figure it out. In "Setup" I don't know what the various options do. Normally it just works. I do not know the difference between "default" "auto" and "custom" nor do I know the function of "Save" and "Reset".

I have been using LR since it has been released in version one. I have a very modest system, Win 7 64 bit Home premium, Processor 6.6 GHz; Memory 4GB; Displaty 1680x1050.Test on export of 101 raw files from Panasonic G3 Lightroom time for rendering 15 Min approx 9 seconds per file.Export from After Shot Pro Approx 3 Min 1.87 sec per file. Both systems using only standard processing functions no Lens corrections, adjustment brush etc. just standard corrections.Just unbeliavable. I did not think I have an issue with the performance of Lghtroom but this is a revelation. I have no hangups or crashes etc.

I often use a couple of lenses when I am out shooting. When I return I import all my photos into LR. I would like to apply LENS CORRECTION to all photos so I selected all the photos that I have imported (CNTL A) and then go to the lens correction area in the development panel. I then "ENABLE LENS CORRECTION" and SYNC the photos.
When I do this it applies the lens correction from the len used in shooting the first photo in the series of photos that I have selected. It DOES NOT recognise when I change lenses. HOWEVER, if I go to any specific individual photo and enable lens correction it does apply the correct lens profile.
WHY does the sync not recognize a change in lenses?

I was just looking through some images and I realized that somehow I have managed to apply lens corrections to exported jpeg and tiff files. These are images that I exported from raw to tiff to jpg through Photoshop and what I think happened was that I didn't notice that Lens Corrections were being applied when I reimported the tiff back into Lightroom. Of course, the lens correction was applied when I developed the raw and made the tiff in Photoshop (or JPEG when I exported thru Lightroom), so a second correction just distorts the image.
is there some mechanism in Lightroom that keeps you from shooting yourself in the foot this way?

When I export as a jpeg the images obviously are compressed, however, they also get darker and more saturated. Is there anyway to compensate for this without having to overcorrect the image before exporting?

Set-up- LR4, LR3, Bridge and PS4 and Elements 10 on a MacBook Pro (OS 10.6.8), calibrated 24” HP ips monitor
Problem : The corrections made on my DNGs in LR4 are not being acquired by BridgePS4 or Elements 10. The neither the images in the filmstrip nor the DNG file when opened in PS4 or Elements Camera Raw reflect the LR4 corrections. Puzzling, since the Cropping and Corrections Applied Indicators are shown with the Bridge filmstrip images. And, when I re-Save Bridge does acknowledge that it is doing new thumbnail extractions .
I’ve done all I’m aware to do.Save in LR4 in Library Mode with filters off. Did an Update DNG previews and metedata. Automatically write changes to XMP is ON. Restarted the machine
To troubleshoot, I brought a few of those images( again DNGs) into LR3, did corrections and saved. These images were rendered properly in Bridge’s filmstrip and corrections were carried into Camera Raw without issue.

One of the great features of the Sony NEX-7 is that the NEX-7 makes automatic lens corrections for vignetting, chromatic aberration and distortion problems. These corrections are written to the file and the preview. However, when converting these images from ARW to DNG the correction data seems to be lost, and the images revert to their uncorrected state. This requires all images to then be re corrected with the Adobe lens profiles, which is both tedious, an extra step, and also seems to produce results that are somewhat less optimal than the original corrections made by the camera.
Should not the ACR Converter and Lightroom retain the lens corrections made by the camera?

I just bought the Tamron SP 90 2.8 DI MACRO USD and LR lens profiles only lists this lens for Canon (F004E) and Nikon (F004N). There is no profile for Sony (F004S) ! Any drawback if I use F004E or N ? Or better use a the profile of the older Model of that lens where there is a Sony profile ?

Downloaded the BLURB color profile and installed to the system. Restarted LR and it did not appear in the other list for color profiles. I checked and found the profile in c:/Windows/System32/spool/drivers/color. I tried coping the file to c:/ProgramFile(x86)/CommonFiles/Adobe/Color/Profiles/Recommended. Restarted LR and still no BRURB icc shows up in the list. I also noticed there were other profiles in these directories which do not show up in the list. What am I doing wrong? Is there another menu which controls the "other..." list?

I have a brand new Macbook Pro with Retina Display and am running CS6, shooting with a Mark III in full resolution raw format. Focus is on in camera but when I open the images in Photoshop, they do not appear super sharp when zoomed in.
Is this a display issue or a program issue or something else? In the past I can usually get the images so sharp that I can see every pore and hair.
