View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having such a hard time adding several photos at once to an existing collection. Not sure what I'm doing wrong as I am following the instructions. First I select all the photos by clicking shift and the 1st photo, then I select the last photo. All photos I want to add are highlighted. But I can't drag all the photos at once. When I try to drag, the 1st photo is only selected. What is are the correct click, drag and drop key strokes to get it right? Dragging and dropping one photo at the time is just not feasible.

"Discard all smart previews" is not an option. I have few thousands of photos and wanna delete just 300 unnecessary smart previews.
PS Lightroom 5.0 on Win 8
How can I add photos to an existing catalogue in lightroom straight from an sd card. I've tried the add function and this didn't work and I've tried importing whilst the catalogue I want to add to is open and it still doesn't work. The only information I could find about this explain how to merge to existing catalogues which isn't what I want to do.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy photos and catalog (LR5) are on NTFS formatted hard drives. What do I need to do to, to be able to use them with LR on a Mac?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Lightroom 4 this week and am haing trouble getting CS5 to open the Lightroom-edited photos. For example, if I adjust the exposure, clarity, etc. in LR 4 and then hit command E to take the file over to Photoshop for further editing, CS5 isn't opening that edited file. It is opening the original file that was imported into LR 4 but not the edited version. These are RAW files.
Interestingly, all of the older files that I originally edited in LR 3 (they have now been moved into the LR4 catalog) will still move over from LR4 to CS5 when I hit command E. Only the files that were imported from my camera card directly into LR 4 aren't cooperating.
I am having a problem with moving my photos from a MacBook Pro to a PC laptop. All the files reside in one directory on an external drive. I copied the catalog from the Mac to the PC, connected the drive, started LR and pointed to the copied catalog. As expected, LR did not know where the files from the external drive were, so I highlighted the drive, right clicked the photo directory and told it to find missing files. I then pointed it to the proper directory on the drive. It only partially worked. Several of the subdirectories on the drive did not relink. If I take the drive off the PC and put it back on the Mac, the subdirectories are properly linked, where on the PC, some aren't.
I can reimport, but then I have to do edits all over again on those photos.
WHen i travel, i use a laptop to handle my photos. When i return home i would like to move the pictures to my main computer, but i have already processed them and spent a fair amount of time on them. How can i move the already processed photos across computers using LR4?
View 4 Replies View RelatedLightroom Library does not see a subfolder in the Finder. It sees and has imported all the other subfolders. The subfolder shows up fine in the Finder and in Bridge. How do I get Library to see it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there was a way to script the creation of multiple subfolders (ie: Selects, Masters, Output) when importing images into lightroom? Right now the best I can come up with is to create a template folder with all of the subfolders already created and copy that template, rename it, and then import into the new folder. I have poked around the programming guide for LR, but nothing immediately jumped out at me.
View 3 Replies View RelatedNow that Lightroom 5 is out. Is there a quick way to build smart previews for all the photos that are in the existing libraries? And is it recommeded to build them for all photos. Does it essentially save two files?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've reviewed the video tutorial on moving photos out of your main drive to another drive, and it seems reasonably straight forward.
However I have a mixed scenerio here, and I just want to check on the best and safest way to do this.
Before I settled on a NAS solution, and while I was running out of space on my Macbook Pro, I began using an external drive to hold both photos and catalogs.
Now that the NAS is up and running, what I would like to do is:
Move the ≈20K photos from the MBP main catalog to the NASMove the ≈1TB of photos from the external drive to the NASMove some of the corresponding catalags off the external and onto my MBP so they remain stand alone...Combine the remaining catalogs on the external drive into my main catalog on the MBP.
So again, I'm just casting for a best strategy from others who have done this, and what if any pitfalls to be wary of.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently bought lightroom 4 which I'm using with elements 9 and I know that lightroom 4 will slightly alter the look of photos previously edited in elements which hasn't been a problem so far. My problem is that photos edited in lightroom/develop look completely different - unusably diiferent in fact - when I move them to elements/editor from lightroom. What am I doing wrong? The photos were moved using 'Ctrl +E' or 'Photo/Edit In/Edit in Adobe Photoshop Elements'.
I decided to check the photos that had been edited in lightroom by going into elements/editor via via elements/organiser and they were fine - only slightly different - but then when I opened the lightroom/library again I got a warning exclamation mark 'Error writing metadata' (not the warning exclamation mark 'Update to current Process (2012)' that you get in lightroom develop).
Am I missing something in the 'Edit Photo With Adobe Photoshop Elements' dialog box?
I am using the latest (stable) version of LR5 on a up to date iMac. I was moving my photos (that is - the top level folders) from one drive to another in LR. After a while LR shows the error message saying the files couldn't be found. When checking in Finder I see the folder structure gets duplicated at the new location, the original folders are empty though and I can find the photos in trash.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Mac Pro and just bought an iMac.
On my Mac Pro, the LR catalog is on the boot drive. The photos are on a separate internal drive.
My plan is to copy both the photos and the LR catalog to the 3 TB Fusion drive of the iMac.
Would I then just double-click on the catalog to open it, and use this process to "reconnect" the missing photo files?
How do I move or copy photos from iPhoto to Lightroom 5?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWould it be possible to automatically set the name of the folder in the "put in subfolder" export option, based on that image metadata (or on a preset, as it is, for example, for filenames)? Maybe a plugin? - image in "summer 2013" gets exported in "summer 2013 jpg" subfolder, where "summer 2013" is taken from the "folder" metadata and "jpg" either from the filetype or manually added.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn Library Mode:
Moving a photograph from one folder to another creates two copies, one in the destination folder and one in the originating folder. In grid view, right clicking on a discarded photo and choosing delete from disk no longer works as the photo deleted does not show in Lightroom but in windows the files still remains on the hard drive.
In the first few months these two features worked properly but no longer respond in the same way. I tried Alt delete and the photo was removed from Lightroom but not from the original folder.
Is this a bug or a windows problem?
I have a preset that allows me to export my photo to a subfolder of the original folder. In my case it's simply called jpg export. This allows me to do all my edits when the shot is in it's original "Date taken" folder and all my edited shots from that folder show up in the jpg export folder when I run the preset. My issue is that the jpg shows up in BOTH the original folder and the jpg export folder. I know it's operator error but what's wrong with my settings? Under Export Location I have Export To: Same folder as original photo (this is the reason for my problem but I am not sure what to change it to) Put in Subfolder: is checked and the folder is called jpg export. Add to This Catalog: is also checked.

I need to copy to folders, photos, and edits from my laptop to the LR on my desktop. How to copy everything to my desktop?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have many photos on my laptop and have a catalog set up through Lightroom 3.5. I decided the best way to store the photos is to keep them on an external hard drive so that I may work on them easily from any computer on my network. (laptop is frequently shut off) Is there a way to maintain /import/export/ edit the current catalog so that it works with the photos on the external drive? I would really hate to have to do the catalog with all the keywords all over again.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have one hard disk filling up with photos, so I have purchased a secondary hard disk to expand my storage. I would like to move my shoots from 2010 to that new hard disk, but I don't want to loose all of the edits saved on them in LR3. I have experimented with moving non-important images that have edits on them, then re-importing them. Unfortunately, LR3 does not preserve that history.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf you look at the attached drawing you will see my drawing sheets. The problem I have is regarding the attributes used for the 'Checked By' section of my sheet.
Yesterday I added a 'Size' tag to my sheet so this shows whats size paper the sheet is to be printed at. To make this fit I needed to move all the existing attributes over to the right.
Everyone except the 'Checked by' tag moved. I cannot now get this tag to move over even if I open the block up and move it.
I've attached an image to show you what I mean.
When I move photos from the develop module to the web module they get a garish/reddish look . I want the photos in slide shows to look like they do in the Develop module. How do I do that?
