View 5 RepliesI am very new to photography and Lightroom 3.4 64 bit. I have a photo of an apple on the table. I want to get the photo black and white (did that already). Now I want the apple it self to remain its own red color. How do I do that?
Also, I have this apple and its reflection is on the knife that is cutting the apple. How can I get that in color too?
In the image below I have an aerial photo of an Island. I need to make it so as water areas are black and land areas are white (not greyscale) almost like a silhouette. My first plan was to draw round the island with a black paint brush and then use the "bucket fill" with a suitable threshold to fill all of the areas up to the black outline with black, however this doesn't work as the bucket fill either breaks through the black line or when I reduce the threshold, doesn't color the water areas solidly.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a pretty standard workflow for my pictures, where i import as dng, adjust exposure and a few general parameters, and then convert them to black and white in Silver FX. But, there's one specific image that, when exported, looks warmer in the browser than in lightroom. I have investigated a bit on this, and here's what i've tested so far, without luck:
- Set color profile to v2 in colormunki.
- Recalibrate monitor and refresh color profile (colormunki).
- Set firefox gfx.colormanagement.mode to 1.
- Set color mode to black and white in LR. Re processed the image from scratch. Re exported.
This is the exported image:

there's a distinct warmish cast to the first image that i don't see on LR, and that i can't quite get rid of.
I am using Photoshop 6.0 and would like to know (in stupid people terms) if there is a way that I can make my photo black and white, but still have one color in it (for example, a black and white face except for green eyes).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI took this photo which was OK but not great, and set the saturation to -100, and worked on the contrast and levels until the sky was very dark. Then I cloned the photo and applied a Linear, Stained Glass transparency to make the sky even darker.
The effect in black and white is so much more dramatic than it is in color.
I made it into my Facebook cover photo.

I want to covert a color photo into black and white but bring back a certain color. How many ways are there to do this? Which method is the most professional (as in provides the most professional finished product) I've read about doing it using the paint brush to bring back the color, also the color selection tool.
The particular image I'm trying to achieve this on is not so simple. The part I want to bring color back into is a dripping pink ice cream, so there are small drips and blobs, often with fair skin color in the background. Ice cream is dripping down face and hands and body and I want to preserve these details accurately. The bits I need to bring back aren't large blocks of color so I'm finding it very difficult to achieve a professional look.
How do I make a certain object in a color picture and make just that object black and white? Or even vice versa? Take the the object of a black and white pic and have it in it's original color?
