I'm a fine artist, oil painter and only need the most basic program to make minor adjustments to images. Brightness, contrast, rotate left to right, color adjust light and dark...all the basic stuff I use often but don't need all the bells and whistles on PS11. Isn't there something simple from the dark ages that WIN 7 can use?

I updated my software from Elements 7 to 11 some weeks ago but I'm still not happy with the structure of my new Organizer. I'm a planespotter which means something like collecting photos of different aircrafts and airlines like post stamps. In PSE 7 I used the tag- and category-tool for organizing these photos by airport. This part works in PSE 11 as well.But I also used to create one 'Smart-Album' for each airline I've ever seen. The big advantage was that I had to create such an album for just one time and every photo I ever named e.g. "Lufthansa" was automatically sorted into the corresponding smart-album. So I had a list that showed all airlines I've taken at least one photo of.
I know that Adobe replaced the smart-albums in PSE 11 by the 'saved searches'. But I don't like this tool, it's not what I'm looking for. I want a visible list of my airlines and it should be created more or less intuitively/automatically, to have not more to do manually than before (efficiency and clarity is very important to me thinking of 5000+ photos and 300+ airlines).
So my questions would be:
1. Is there any possibility to manage it the way I described above in PSE 11?
2. If not, anything that could be suitable for my requirements?
I'm using PSE 11 and want to replace the brown color with white using the Color Replacement Brush.
Here are my Color Replacement Brush settings:
Unexpectedly, when I brush over the brown area, instead of the brown changing to white it's changing to a bluish-gray.
Why the brushed color isn't changing to white?
My OS is Snow Leopard on a MacBook Pro.
There doesn't appear to be a sampling method for the colour replacement tool in Elements 10, whilst there is one in Elements 11 & previous versions. Can I get a plugin/download to give me the option in Elements 10?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just recently replaced the hard drive on my IMac. All files and applications have been re-installed from the time machine back up drive. LR shows up on the dock but when I open it it comes up with:"The Lightroom catalog named “Lightroom 3 Catalog” cannot be opened because another application already has it opened" and "Quit the other copy of Lightroom before trying to launch."
Do I have to reinstall LR3 from the LR DVD? I do not want to use loose the catalog structure and edit info.
I have a PSD file open and I added a new layer via the copy command. I have added a Layer Mask to the new layer and I'm trying to use the Brush Tool with black forground to cover part of the new layer. I'm following an online tutorial step by step, but when I try to use the Brush Tool I get "could not use color replacement tool because it only works in full color mode". The Image>Mode is set to RGB.

However, all the tutorials seem to either ignore tihs use or are based on earlier versions and I can't seem to follow them as 12 doesn't work quite the same way/have the same icons/menus. creating/editing animations, or tell me I'm using fundamentally the wrong software for animation and should just give up and buy something else.

My system is about a 6month old macbook pro with 16gb ram, i7 and AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB. What could be causing this? View 2 Replies View RelatedI mostly shoot in RAW + JPEG and when importing my catalog I converted RAWs to DNG. However, I have on some occaisions had to shoot JPEG only and I'd like all my masters to be stored as DNG. The only option to convert JPEGs to DNG that I can find is via Export. I presume if I used this I'd have to export them all then delete the JPEG masters from my catalog before importing the DNGs.
I take it converting JPEG to DNG is lossless?
I make it a habit to always place a simple watermark on all my photos during Export. When i was using LR3 this always worked, but when I recently updated to LR5.2 the Copyright watermark does not show in my photos. I tried several repetitions exporting to .JPEG files, making sure that the Watermarking box is checked. Still, the photos do not show the Copyright symbol and my name.

All attempts to use "Web" module prove to be quite oversophisticated. Here is my point:
1) I have let's say 15 images selected and ready to export (OK)
2) I would like to export these files to ftp to a prespecified directory (OK)
3) I would like lightroom to get me a ready to use html file which will contain all full-size images with descriptions below the pictures (no links to intermediary pictures)
This would simpify 1000 times my workflow with updating pictures to FTP and then adding some text to publish it on my blog.
I even bought LR/Blog plugin, but it doesn't do the trick - even though I can freely generete html code, it keeps applying some weird prefixes to filenames and is not that universal in general

I'm trying to create a simple 6 image per page book using Auto Layout. No matter what I try, I cannot get it to lay the images out in sequential order.
The images are numbered 001_XXXX.jpg and I see them in the correct order in the LR Library.
I have a PS (7.0) layer and want to replace speicfic RGB values with a nother RGB value. For example replace RGB (220,220,220) with RGB (125,135,145). I am trying to create an action to automate this process for multiple PSD.files (approx 50) that need the same RGB value conversion. I tried using the "replace color" but this defined an area to modify not a specific RGB value.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an image in which I am trying to replace the black coloring in a flag to pink, but the replacement isn't going through. The flag only becomes a greyish color.
To replace the color I used Image--->Adjustments--->Replace Color and then selected the black with the eyedropper, and change the color on the bottom to the pink.
I need to change a solid black shape to a brown color, but the color replacement can't change b&w to actual colors right?
Well I know I could select it and just fill it, but it gets too pixelated; the edges on the shape are a little feathered.
When I do the color replacement tool the value changes nicley, but why can't the color change also...is there any method that can change this black shape to brown without having to cleanup the edges?
I cannot find my copy of CS2 to install on new machine. It was actually an upgrade from CS that I had downloaded...somewhere...I called Adobe and was told they cannot supply a replacementI would need to upgrade to CS3 (which I'm not interested in at the moment). I find this hard to believe...have I been informed correctly? Any ideas how to obtain a replacement (not interested in cracks, btw)?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to change a silver to a deep reddish brown but when I try the colour is off..Here is what I have tried.
I have used the colour replacement tool as well as the Hue tool but like I said it produces a variation of the original colour and the new colour.I have also played around with desaturation but with the same colour I end up with a pink. This was just a shot in the dark.
My issue is I have a panel that is a gradient background and I need to change the color from yellow to blue. I have successfully changed the solid color to 0072b9 in the top left using the Color Replacement tool, however cannot work out how to change the rest of the image.
The "swoosh" in the middle of the image seems to be a different layer perhaps? Every time I change it, it goes purple and changes the rest of the image. I wanted to fade out 0072b9. I tried to replace the more faded part towards the middle / bottom right to 5ACCFF which is getting lighter but it just dirties up.
My lod laptop died. Reinstalling Photoshop 6 (! ) on my replacement, I was disallowed from registering, receiving a message that the software had already been registered.
