Lightroom :: On Import LR Washes Colour Out On Photos?

Aug 14, 2013

Here is the story:  I have batched out a folder of JPGs from Photoshop and would like to import them into Lightroom to Resize them . I'm resizing so that I can post them on my website.

I have double  and triple checked to insure I have no "Develop" settings to be applied.  I import the photos, and they look fine in thumbnails. Then they update one at a time with a washed out color to a bluish / b&w type color.  I exported one of the photos to see if it was just a preview and sure enough the color is gone.

It doesn't happen on every import as I just resized a different folder of photos that I had downloaded from elsewhere a week ago and they worked fine.  It's somewhat random.  I am attaching links to before and after.

Imported into Lightroom and Exported right back out with no changes:[url].....

Lightroom :: 4 Export To JPG Colour Washes Out When Viewed In Preview

Nov 26, 2012

LR4 4.2 with ACR 7.2Mac OSX 10.8.2Nikon D600 NEF (Raw) files This problem has occured everytime I use LR4 and I've tried exporting to different colour space - sRGB, AdobeRGB with the same result. This is using my new Nikon D600, when I export a photo processed in LR4 and shot from my old Canon 400D the colours are almost identical when viewed in Preview with just the usual loss you would expect converting to sRGB.

I hope this is an issue that is being worked on for the update that will fully support the D600.

Lightroom :: Photos Import With Flags And Colour Badges

Jun 15, 2013

I do most of my work on my desktop, and all the files are held there with xmp files. On my laptop, I import the photos in their folders, but leave the files on the desktop, and I am now going to be doing that more with the new smart preview option.

The one problem I have, though, is that the pick flags are not in the metadata, and therefore don't cross to the laptop. Is there any way this can be done? I use the laptop to show others, and to allow them to choose the photos they want, so it would be good to have the flags and the colour badges, and for the traffic to go in both directions.

Lightroom :: How To Colour Correct Photos For CMYK

Nov 14, 2007

I'm doing a set of postcards that will send to print using offset.

I will tidy up in PS and correct in Lightroom.

It's just when I make the corrections in LR(inRGB) and send to PS to convert to CMYK.

I convert to CMYK in PS only to loose some colour corrections.

you can only export as RGB in lightroom.

So what is Lightroom used for then? Only digital print or web? Does RAW have a CMYK function?

How can I maintain the correct colour to output as CMYK onto an offset printer using LR?

What is the best way to colour correct Photos for CMYK?

Lightroom :: Colour Shift On Re-import From PS (13.0.1) To Windows?

Oct 16, 2012

I've got strange subtle color shift from reds to yellows when I'm doing the following:

1) import my raw files as DNG into LR

2) edit them in LR

3) ctrl-E them to edit in PS

4) edit them in PS (just drawing a dot with the brush tool somewhere, so the file could be saved and re-imported to LR)

5) save (not "save as") them in PS which bring them back as tifs to LR

This final tif from PS has some color shift in comparison to the original DNG file. Nothing is edited in PS.

Furthermore:

- if I'll open to edit the resulted tif with the color shift in PS once again with the option to use LR adjustments, I'm getting color shift in PS

- if I'll open to edit the resulted tif with the color shift in PS once again with the option to open the original tif without LR adjustments, I'm getting correct color in PS, as in my original DNG

LR - ProPhotoRGB
PS - ProPhotoRGB

Lightroom :: Rendering After Import Changed Colour?

Aug 26, 2012

I moved from Windows to Mac. Today I imported a set of photos from my camera to my disk. After rendering all of my photos became B&W (LR4 changed color treatment of my RAW files). It surprised me a lot. I did it again and again. All my photos are B&W. I have to change color treatment in all of them. I would prefer my old importing scheme (photos are color after rendering). I did not use any preset and all oprions were as usual (only changed a name of photos).

I noticed that LR4 changed a few other options: decreased highlights by 100, increased shadow by 100, increased clarity by 50, changed tone curve to strong contrast, increase sharpening to 100, noise reduction to 40, and so on. Increadible! How can I came back to my way of importing?

Lightroom :: Loading Photos - Colour And Exposure Looks Different Than In A Camera?

Jan 22, 2013

when importing photos (raw files) to Lightroom they look very different than in the camera. At the very beginning photo looks more or less the same and then, a message „Loading…” is displayed and in a result the photo looks differently. It looks like with imposed dimmer yellow/red filter, higher contrast, much lower sharpness and what is most important, they are all overexposed sort of.  The screen settings are as sRGB, ICC profile: sRGB IEC61966-2.1. I am using DSLR Sony A700 that save photos in ARW format, Lightorrom just updated to version 4.3 .

Lightroom :: Metadata - Import Settings From Disc - Colour Code Disappears?

Oct 12, 2013

I'm going to try this again. Using PS CC for photographers, that is Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5.x, new iMac running Mavericks.

Having processed an image in LR and PS, and saved as TIFF back to LR. All is well.

If and when I subsequently take the TIFF back into PS for further tweaks and again save as TIFF back to LR, replacing the original TIFF, I then get the Metadata Conflict warning, the exclamation mark.

As far as metadata goes, I don't want to lose what I did in LR....that is, keywords, color codes, captions, gps data, etc. I do want to retain the additional adjustments I made in PS.

I've noticed that when I choose to 'import settings from disc' that the color code disappears and I have to re-do it.

If I select the 'overwrite with LR settings' option, my concern is that I lose those PS adjustments.

My questions is: WHAT settings could have been changed in my round trip to PS that trigger the warning?

Lightroom :: 5 Won't Import New Photos?

Jun 18, 2013

I have Lightroom 5 installed on a Dell desktop running Windows 8. LR 5 won't import any files - they just don't appear in the LR browser. Photos already in the catalog appear as expected. I still have LR 4 installed and the same photos import as expected.  The same photos are read as well in Photoshop CS6 and Elements 10. The latest video drivers are installed. As a result, LR 5 is unusable. How to make Lightroom 5 import photos?

Lightroom :: 4.4 Hangs And Won't Import Photos

Jul 19, 2013

I have been having problems with Lightroom 4.4 and importing photos from an external hard drive. I've worked with this configuration for years with no problem. I've been working with 4.4 since it was released as an RC, no issues. It started to be very slow to move into the import modual/function. Then it would hang every time and no sources for import would come up and the program would just stop and I'd get the "not responding" message. I thought it might be a corrupt catalog so I tried one of my backup catalogs, I tried different catalogs all together. I deleted the preference file and that seemed to be the beginning of the end for my current installation. When I tried to open Lightroom (via the catalog file) after deleteting the preference file it was like Lightroom couldn't/wouldn't rewrite the file and open. It would hang. Eventually I did get it to open up but I had to walk away and let it work on opening for a good 10 minutes. It finally came up but was too slow to work with. I gave up and decided to uninstall it and download and install again. It is still wonky and slow and will not import photos at all. I know it is difficult to diagnose something like this but I'm at my wits end. I've used Lightroom since the very beginning and I've come to be quite dependant on it. I just don't even know where to look to figure this out. I've browsed around for import problems but haven't found a whole lot of information or examples. Oh I should mention I tried creating a new empty catalog on my internal hard drive in case the problem somehow was with the external drive but that isn't the case. Actually I have catalogs on a few different external drives. It doesn't matter where the photos are, Lightroom is not happy at the moment. It barely responds to any input and crashes if I try to import photos. I also uninstalled and disabled my Carbonite because I know that can cause problems with some programs and I am desperate to get Lightroom going again.

Lightroom :: How To Import Photos Chronologically

Mar 21, 2014

I've been using Lightroom 3.5 for some time now and have never had any issues with it However, I noticed when I was importing photos into a new catalog today, that it does not import and arrange them chronologically anymore. I'm not sure why this is the case, nor have I changed any of the settings recently.

I'd much rather prefer to have them arranged chronologically so that I can sift through photo sequences and select the best still.
