Random files are being corrupted in my library. Sometimes the preview image is corrupted sometimes not. But upon export images are being corrupted as well so I cannot export certain images anymore for anything because they get corrupted everytime.
I have installed the updates etc I keep my main librarys on a external drive. Im on a fairly new imac.
I installed Lightroom 4.4 recently. I have been using 2.x for years.
I exported a number of jpg files into a JPG subfolder. These jpgs were generated from cr2 files. The "add to catalog" option was selected. My problem is that not only the exported files/pictures were not added to the catalog but that I cannot add them manually (by syncing the upper-level folder).
I recently began using lightroom and stored the files on the local drive of my macbook pro (current os) until I ran out of space. Exported the catalogue to an external HD, then deleted the files from the local drive. As I tried to import the .lrcat file associated with the export to the external HD and received this error:
"Can not import from this catalog at this time. The catalog is either in use by another copy of Lightroom or was closed improperly. If it was closed improperly, please consider doing an integrity check when opening."
I am not running LR on any other computers so I figure Lightroom was "closed improperly".
Editing jpeg files with Photoshop Elements 10 corrupts the files so they cannot be viewed on a TV, how do I rectify this - the software as it stands is completely useless as I want to present slideshows to a number of people simultaneously via the TV. On initial use this didn't happen but it does now even after we reinstalled the programme.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI use and love Lightroom. Currently on 4.x Here is the problem. Suddenly many of my images are being corrupted. They seem to acquire a colorful striped pattern. Sometimes it happens on import, sometimes not for a few weeks. You will be looking at the filmstrip, and actually watch them be redrawn with the error. When I import the same raw file into another program (FastStone), I am able to see it properly and export it to jpeg. With LR, the export maintains the corruption. I have tried it on two different hard drives with the same results. I don't think its a hardware issue. I am attaching two sample images. One processed with FastStone, the other with LR. I had to use paint application to shrink them to an uploadable size, but they do represent the problem correctly.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with LR 5.2 when I do sharpening (and sometimes spot removal) in the develop module. It looks fine in the develop pane, but when I move to library module the sharpening and spot removal disappear (and reappear when I switch back to develop). The exported images are the same as the view in Library mode. How do I get the exported images to have the sharpening and spot removal that I've done in develop?
View 9 Replies View RelatedLightroom v5.3: I'm a long time DNG file user for Pentax and Nikon cameras. I recently discovered that about 300 of my RAW Nikon files already imported into the Library are NEF files instead of DNG files as my other 5700 files are.
I know that I made an error somewhere along the way, but- Is there an easy solution to converting those existing NEF files to the DNG format?
I have been using previous version of LR and never had this problem. Image is not sharp and noise filter doesn't seem to be applied when I do my export. It looks completely different on a Dev Module.
View 16 Replies View RelatedWhen i import them back into Lightroom 4 they look darker (as they originally were in LR before export). I calibrate my monitor with Spyder 4 pro each month and i have had no problems printing on my Epson r2000 either and have always had accurate prints.
I maybe imaginging things, but it only seems to be with certain photos (most noticably high ISO astrophotography images). I went through old astro shots this week from over a year ago and thats when i noticed the problem. The expoted files are massively brighter than in Lightroom I am at a loss as to what to do. The display profile on my mac is set to the latest monitor calibration. I havent changed anything in LR but i did get rif of a load of crap on my computer this week as it was becoming slow after updating to OS 9 (mackeeper, dropboxes but nothing i could imagine would relate to LR).
cropped up with my Photoshop 7 program. It seems that the new images I create suddenly cannot be viewed in my webpages or with any program other than photoshop or microsoft photo editor. The workaround I have used the last couple of days is to create the image in photoshop then open and save it in microsoft photoeditor and it works fine. Is this a problem that would be fixed by reinstalling my photoshop program or is there another problem?

I often have to work 2 or 3 sets, and will need to wait for approval from different art directors, product managers, etc. sometimes for days, and I often find myself wondering which was the photo I sent to them- the differences are often very minimal, and by the time they get back to me, I've forgotten them anyway. I know I can flag them, rate them, etc. and obviously I can look at the file in photoshop ( where it has been exported to) but I really would like to know if there is a quick telltale that I can spot in LR.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy exported JPG files look sharp and crystal clear on Flickr. However on Facebook they are blurred and dull. This seems to happen to all my RAW files now. I have not noticed this before and have been using Lightroom since Nov 2012.
How can I fix this since I do share a lot of my work on Facebook as well.
Why the aren't showing now but the exported files data to that folder is at zero. What I can do to make it reflect what's in the folder?

I want to go back and work on some of the original tiff files but they no longer show up in the lightroom library or develope modules even though they are still on the disk. Lightroom sees the original files in the import dialogue but will not let me reimport them either. The exported jpg files are shown in the library module. How can I work on the original tiff files.

View 1 Replies View RelatedLightroom 3.6 is not finding my newly exported .jpg files when I use Synchronize Folder. This has been working for me since I got LR many months ago, but today after I make adjustments to a .cr2 file and export the file to a .jpg file in the same folder, synchronize folder isn't finding the new .jpg files. Interestingly I used Windows Live Photo Gallery to copy/resize one of the .jpg files I'd exported, and LR *does* find that file, just not the originally exported one.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have LR4, and once I make some develop changes I've been exporting the files I want to use as DNG. I then open them in PSE10 to make final edits. It's been working fine, actually I had an older version of Adobe Raw in my PSE on my other computer. So when I opened in PSE it would ask if I wanted to conver to compatible version to edit in camera raw. I always said no b/c I didn't need to do anymore raw edits. Now that I have installed PSE on my new computer, it has the new ACR version I guess. When I open the DNGs to edit now I no longer get this error message, but it's showing my contrast, etc. as a standard raw setting instead of the changes I made in LR. Some are showing....like vibrance, but "recovery" which I know is "highlights" in LR, and other things are not showing correctly. I know that the options are different, but I don't want to use the ACR settings that it's using when I open the file, or have to go through them again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just started using Lightroom 4.1 Trial version (coming from Aperture). I exported JPEG versions of some images using an ICC profile. On my iMac running Lion 10.7.5 the pictures do not show a thumbnail, the file on the desktop just shows "JPEG". I could not open the file with the Preview App, but I am able to open it with DPP (Canon software)? Also the file shows that it has 0 x 0 dimentions when I click Get Info even though it is about 25 Megs in size?
The message I get is "The file “Edit-739820120223Canon EOS 7D.jpg” could not be opened. It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize."
I use LR5 to manage RAW/JPG/MOV files from events where I have taken pictures from. Most of the MOV files do either come from my Canon Camera or from my iPhone.
I regular export the files in a reduced file back to my iPad or iPhone for "public" viewing. Unfortunately LR5 is loosing all metadata from my videos, especially creating date/time and GPS tags.
Is there any way to include metadata in exported (and compressed) video files ? It works in photo's very well.
If not, do you know any other program which can compress original video files from my iPhone and keep the metadata ?
I'm having a lively discussion within my department over the use of Power-Clips within multi-page files.We are working with X3 on systems running Win 7. Some believe that files containing images that have been placed in containers become corrupt, leading to exceptionally slow file-open and PDF-publishing times (up to 5 minutes). Is this a culprit?
Do they always need to be Converted to Bitmap after clipping?
When I edit my photo in "Develop" and do any sharpening in the Details menu (or with a brush for that matter), it looks great in "Develop" but then when I export it the sharpening effect is not there!. It seems all the other adjustments I make (temp, exposure,..) are all in the imported file but the sharpening is NOT . Also the sharpening adjustsments dont appear on the photo in Library either. I am not reducing the size or resultion of the photo in the export.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is my work scenario. I shoot on Cannon 50D in raw (15 mp). Upload the images to computer and import to Lightroom. I make my adjustmenst in Lightroom and many images I pull from Lightroom into Photoshop CS5 and do additional artistic touches there. I save from Photoshop so that it re-opens it back in Lightroom with my Photoshop adjustments. After I have done this with all of my images I then export the images my clients select for their purchased disc. This where I am concerned...
What I know had once started out as large raw files are quite small by the dimension size, average approximate dimensions are 4750x3170. File settings are set to quality 100 and under Image Sizing I do not have 'resize to fit' checked. On occasion I have used the crop feature in Lightroom but not on many images and all of my images are small not just certain ones.
I am fairly new to Lightroom but nervous about using it right now. I am actually postponing editing a new session until I can get some clear answers or I may just have to tackle the whole session in Photoshop like I used to because I will at least know that file sizes will not decrease in size.
I am running LR v3.4.1. I have had a single catalog for a long time and it has really effected performance, so I am wanting to move some files out into a separate catalog. Currently, my catalog is on my C: drive, but all of my pictures are on my K: drive, which is external. When I do the export as catalog, it creates the new catalog on my C: drive, but also creates a copy of all of the photos there as well. I want to point the catalog back to the original files on my K: drive so I can remove the ones created during the export process on my C: drive.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just noticed yesterday that when I have RAW (DNG) files in my LR5.2 library, I can select the correct lens profile to apply. When I take three of those files and merge them together in Photomatix Pro they come back as a single TIFF file. Now LR only has one lens profile available, and it is the wrong one.
This is happening with my Sony NEX-7 and Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR DI-III VC. With the RAW files, I have a list of Tamron lenses from which to choose, and the correct one is available. For the merged TIFF file, however, only a single Tamron lens is available for selection, and it is not the lens I used.
this is in regards to a Lightroom 3.5 exported JPG. This was a year ago when I had been told it was best to export files with simple renumbering of them from 1 to x... instead of retaining the original RAW 4-digit file name.
I've currently lost the original files, and need to do a search for them via these 4 digits to see if I have them tucked away in any of my drives. I downloaded a metadata explorer, and it's telling me all the lightroom editing information, and everything else, but somehow does not have the simplest of information — that 4 digit original file name.
Am I grasping at straws or is there likely to be any way to find this information out? I don't work with metadata, so there wouldn't have been any customizations to how Lightroom configures this...

I want to seach LIGHTROOM and then get a text file of the results of a search. I find noting on this.
When I import a 26.8 MB (5616 x 3744) CR2 RAW file from a Canon 5DMKII into Lightroom 4.4 and then export it as a JPEG sRGB Quality 100 file, it's size is 13.4 MB. When I do the same thing in Aperture 3.4.3 the exported JPEG file size is 20.8 MB. Am I doing something wrong in Lightroom?
