View 1 RepliesI Just had this message from my LR after 3 years of use the catalogs from the same drive.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had my Lightroom 3 catalog on an external hard drive which became corrupted . the only thing I could do was drag and drop it on another one. when trying to open it I got this Error message."Lightroom cannot open the catalog named “Lightroom main Catalog-2-2” located on network volume “Public”. Lightroom Catalogs can not be opened on network volumes, removable storage, or read only volumes".? I didn't have the ability to export catalog.

View 1 Replies View Relatedis it possible to work with the catalogs in version 5 on a networkdrive?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have seen that there are multiple threads on this subject, and the reasons given for not allowing it were performance and to avoid several concurrent instances of lightroom opening the same catalog.
However, the network drive solution is virtually the only possible solution when lightroom is installed in a virtual machine. Indeed, you don't support linux, and lightroom users who prefer linux install lightroom on virtual machines. Sharing a folder between the linux host and the windows guest is usually done by exposing it as a network drive to the windows guest. (There are many issues with external USB drives and virtualbox).
Hence, allow for catalogs to be opened on network drives.
Is it possible to get a Wiretap Gateway running on a Mac to show network volumes mounted on it?
I'm trying to get a gateway setup so I can get ProRes into my Smoke. Everything is running, I can see my "Helper Monkey" from the MediaHub in the network, and browse to it.. but all I see is the System volume, although I have 2 Windows shares mounted from a server. I'd like to avoid having to copy all the media locally to the Mac HD first, and just let it read from over the network off another workstation. I realize the performance implications, but I'd like to use this to create cache media on the Smoke so I don't care much.
I have not licensed the gateway yet since I was just seeing if I can get it to work at all first (I'm actually trying running the Mac in a VM because my actual Mac Pro is old and won't run 64-bit.
I have just moved my years worth of images off my laptop by exporting the catalogue throught Lightroom and everything that goes with it to a exteranl drive. Now I would like to delete the catalogue and all files associated with it. Do I need to do that through Lightroom or can I just delete the year 2012 in the pictures folder.

View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently I upgraded to Mountain Lion and now cannot upload photos into LR 4.3 unless I first upload them into my labtop that has LR 3, then export as a Cataloge .
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded from a mac mini to a macbook pro retina using migration assistant and time machine backup. All went well, and since all my photos were on an external drive, no problems there. However, when I try to import new photos, I see the images, but then get a list of the .CR2 files and an error message of "unable to read files." This is a Sandisk Extreme 16 GB SD card, and it still successfully works on the old mac. Following a similar issue in the forum, I checked permissions, and those appear to all be correct. I'm running LR 4.4.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI get a "could not be read" msg while trying to import NEF files to my new iMac. Running 10.7.4 and LR4.1, Camera Raw 7. It doesn't happen every time. To date, the only solution is to restart my computer and then I'm able to import the image files.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried to import files for the first time and LR 4.3 said they can't be read. I've already had difficulty with the install not working on my user account so I had to set up a new one for LR to work and now this.
View 11 Replies View RelatedLightroom will not read Nikon D800 NEF files. I have updated lightroom twice, first to 4.1 and second to 4.2 and in neither case would the files import. I have read several forum entries that say these files are compatible with Lightroom and/or to update Lightroom.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI'm now getting the error message: "The following files were not imported because they could not be read (189)." Not sure why this would appear after years of successfully importing.
View 7 Replies View Relatedjust got a new Sony A77 but Lightroom v2 won't read RAW files when I try to import them. I know I need to upgrade my version of LR (I will be going to v4) but... is there ANYTHING else I need to do or to upgrade in order to ensure Lightroom 4 will read those Sony RAW files?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhy can't my Lightroom read my (jpeg) files now that I have reloaded it onto a new imac hard drive?
View 4 Replies View RelatedFirst time I have gotten this error while attempting to import.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am doing some editing work for a magazine. The lead editor had issues with adobe camera raw viewing some of my edits. The xmp files are there but for some reason they are not loading. We narrowed it down to just the Nikon D4 files. I just had her download a trial version of LR4 and we are getting the same issue. The xmp's are there in the same folder as the .nef files. Import into Lightroom, and all D4 files do not show my edits.
We are both running Lightroom 4.3, Camera Raw 7.3.
I'm going to buy LR4. There are some old ircat files and catalogues created by LR 1.4 version. I wonder if it is possible to read these old catalogues by LR4?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't get Lightroom3.4.1 to read Samsung's raw files. in sRGB or adobeRGB. This is the new NX 200. But since it is supposed to support NX100, one would think NX 200 should be the same format. The samsung converter makes for a clumsy workflow.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI installed a lightroom 4.2 and i was about to import my pictures but lightroom cant read my files in my computer. It can read files but those files are from years ago. I wonder why my recent files cant read. I dont know what to do. I already reinstalled it but then again its still the same. I dont think it was on the installing the lightroom but i am suspecting that it has something to do with the catalog?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed Lr4 on my laptop. When I plug in my Nikon D7000 and try to import photos, I just get a message "The following files could not be imported because they could not be read". Then it lists the file names of the various files. Message displays regardless if I try .NEF or .JPEG files. The photos appear in the library module, so I know Lr is pulling them from the correct place (camera). When I plug the camera into my desktop PC where I also have Lr installed, all works fine.
