Lightroom :: Can 3 Save Corrected Image To A File
Jan 2, 2012
I purchased LR for the simple purpose of removing dust spots. I bought and read a book. I removed the spots, and tried to save a file of the corrected image, and could not find a way to do that. I know all about catalog = DB, but really, this product cannot save an image to disk?

The pictures came out fine. But then I upgraded to a (then) newer version of ACDSee, and the first time I opened the folder with these pictures in them, ACDSee turned them all magenta. ACDSee claims that this is impossible – but I assure you it happened...
I’ve posted one of the pictures here, including a screen shot of the Info pallet while the cursor is over an area of the image. As you can see, there isn’t any info for the yellow or black channels.
My question is – is there any hope for restoring the proper color to these images? I‘ve played around a bit with Curves, Hue & saturation, etc. - but getting natural color has eluded me. [URL]

I was just looking through some images and I realized that somehow I have managed to apply lens corrections to exported jpeg and tiff files. These are images that I exported from raw to tiff to jpg through Photoshop and what I think happened was that I didn't notice that Lens Corrections were being applied when I reimported the tiff back into Lightroom. Of course, the lens correction was applied when I developed the raw and made the tiff in Photoshop (or JPEG when I exported thru Lightroom), so a second correction just distorts the image.
is there some mechanism in Lightroom that keeps you from shooting yourself in the foot this way?

For my work I have to cut and change the size of images a few thousand times a day.
When I want to save a edited image to a file(every image goes to the same file all the time),I always have to search this file. How can I program CS5.1 to always go to that specific file to save the image. Instead of searching for the file all the time!
Second thing is that the images always have to be changed to the same resolution. Is there a way to 'automate' this. I Know: - File - Automate - Fit Image. But is it possible to do this with a key combination or make a 'button' somewhere?

when I need to "save as" a file, or insert an image, pdf, etc, instead of a pop-up window where I can browse and select folder or files, Autocad wants me to insert this information in the command window at the bottom of the screen. For exemple (in french):
Entrez le format de fichier

How I can go back to the usual setting?

I open a jpg file in gimp and use the crop tool. I see the cropped part highlighted and the part to be discarded as a surrounding shaded area. I am happy with the cropped part and open a file-save-as dialog through the file menu. I type in the file name and think I am done. But when I open the saved file, it looks the same as the uncropped file that I started with in the first place. What am I failing to do to make the gimp save my change? I guess the answer is that I didn't really make a change but only thought I did. So how do I actually change to the cropped image?

I would like to somehow save the depth reading (in mm or inches) at each pixel of the image through a camera viewport. Currently, I'm using this script to save each reading in inches to a text file but it is really slow. I've learnt that OpenEXR can save a single floating-point channel image. Are there a faster way that I can save all the readings (in mm or inches) to .exr file or other format that support 32 bits single channel? If not, is it possible to scale the output (grayscale) floating point reading in exr to mm. (are they linear?) given that I set the minimum/maximum zdepth range.
script:
startFrame = 0
endFrame = 50
for frameNum = startFrame to endFrame do (
sliderTime = (int(frameNum))
fname = ("H:HAND_DATAdepthh" + (int(framenum) as string) + ".txt")
myfile = createfile (fname)
rbm = render outputsize: channels:#(#zDepth) vfbff
for y=0 to 239 do
(
[code].....

I'm currently in the process of organizing my music collection with album art. I found a great site with high quality images[URL] .... and would like to resize pictures to 600x600 within the range of 200-300KB. Is there a way to automatically do this without changing the quality percentage by trial and error?

I used to be able to save a layered image as an .apng file [and set the delay time etc], which I would then convert to a gif using apng2gif. I found that the quality was turned out better than the other ways I've used to try and make gifs, and it seemed easier.
Anyway the other day I had to format my laptop and as a result all the programs were uninstalled. When I re-installed Paint.net I found that I couldn't save images as .apng anymore.
As far as I can remember the only changes I made to Paint.net were downloading some pyrochild effects.

I have an image received from a client in .eps format. I need to get it into either a .gif or .jpg format AND the final file MUST be .8 inches x .3 inces, AND no more than 10K in size. How can I save it with these dimensions/constraints and not lose resolution? What I have tried - export to .jpg (file is 5 inches x 3 inches), export and change resolution to 100ppi (image is nearly the right dimensions, but blurry). The tools I have are AI and PS both version CS5

I wonder when, and if, it is necessary to save metadata to the file? I copy RAW images from the camera card to DNG data type. I once accidentally deleted an edited image with unsaved metadata. I discovered the image I re-imported from my recycle bin was the original image without the updates I applied. I assume if I had saved the metadata for the image, the edits would have been brought back. Other than losing edits and other metadata when accidentally deleting an image, is there any other reasons I should save metadata to the file?
In a related question, is the original image without the metadata accessible in any other software except Lightroom if the metadata has been saved to the image file?

I've got a whole bunch of files in a catalogue that have had the metadata changed locally. I want to overwrite with the metadata thats in my LR cat. When I select them all and choose metadata>save metadata to files the little "!" dissapears from only file ata time. I matters not which module I'm in or if I go library > save metadata.
EDIT: I tried deleting the local XMP files and I get the same result

how the "save metadata to file" works. I had a corrupt catalog and thought I lost all my edits. I then read about this save feature and how it can protect me from a corrupt catalog by saving my edits. Does doing this overwrite my original file? Does saving the metadata destructively save the edits to the file? Is there a way to retrieve my original file after "saving metadata to the file" or do I need to save the orginals on a seperate harddrive?

I got the message, "Photos have read-only access," when trying to save the metadata into a DNG file. I'm on windows 7, and just upgraded to Lightroom 5. The files in Windows have full write and read ability. What am I doing wrong? Or what box do I need to check or uncheck to be able to save my metadata into the DNG files. My catalogue is on an internal drive. The actual images are on an external drive.

Is it possible to use the flash gallery in Lightroom and have a way for the user to right click and save images for themselves? I see that in the simpleviewer there is an option for the user to right click and open the image in a new window so users can save the images from the new window. Is there a way for this in the flash galleries as well?

The reason I ask this is I have hundreds of photos that were taken on a 5D with a scratched filter, so I am treating the marks as dust bunnies and getting rid of them in the same way, using spot healing and for the scratches, whtever the feature is called where you use the spot healing brush but you 'draw lines'.However I am one of the many who suffer appalling performance in Lightroom edits so after maybe 20 spot heals the computer slows down so much so as to be unusable. So I then send the file into PS/CS6 as the same doesn't happen there. I quickly fix all my spots and scratches and then I appear to only have the option of saving the file as a TIF back to LR. What I'd love to do is save the xmp file, and then have LR update the image given those xmp changes.Is this possible or do I have to continue to have the extra TIF file?
