As soon as I either hit the "create proof copy" button or answer yes to the question, all of the develop controls are greyed out. I've exited and rebooted but no luck. I've tried entering the soft proofing area both by checking off the box at the bottom of the screen and by hitting the "S" key but no luck. I'm using LR 4.4 on a Mac using 10.6.8.
View 1 RepliesThe main develop module controls have disappeared from the develop window. How do I recover them? I'm working with Lightroom 5.3. The missing controls are the sliders for exposure, contrast, clarity, etc. I must have inadvertantly clicked something that made them disappear but nothing I've tried brings them back. I've never had this experience in the years I've been using Lightroom (since version 1.1).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't know how I did it, but the controls on the window in the develop module for exposure, contrast, clarity, black, white points etc are gone. I cannot currently adjust them for overall image edit. They only pop up if I use the gradient tool etc. I don't know what I did that they are missing. how to get them back on the panel. These are the controls above the curve that let you adjust for overall edits not the tool specific ones.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWith the combination of tiny font size and the inability to set the contrast of the text and background, this batcave thing makes the interface text almost totally illegible on a glossy 27" monitor.
I am constantly having to use hardware zoom to make out the controls. Productivity is way, way down and eyestrain induced headaches are way, way up.This shows a huge disconnect on the part of Adobe.
If every user was on a 17" non-reflective screen in a darkened environment and dressed like a ninja, I guess this would work. It sure doesn't work in the real world.
I can't wait a year for the penny to drop. I have work to do today - and a ton of it. A year ago, before the Helen Keller interface change with Adobe apps I could get things done.
For example, the photo lables in the library: text: 89% backbround: 77% - a difference of only 12%! Twelve percent? When you overlay this with a reflection of around 30% white, it is impossible to make things out.
In LR4, I was quite attached to the easy-to-use temperature and tint controls in the Library module. Now, in LR 5, those seem to be gone and I find the sliders in the Develop module much less handy. Is there some way to get the other controls back?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn upgrading to LR4 I wish to keep my process 2010 photos as process 2010. There is no need to redo them because the update pretty much forces you to start again with most processed photos.
My problem is that I now find that LR4 greys out the detail and color sliders for Luminance and color noise reductionas if they are process 2003 photos. That is, I do not have access to the detail and color for the noise reduction section.
I can only assume this is a bug or that Adobe have changed the Noise reduction engine.
The Edit menu in LR3 has greyed out the option of any Photoshop program as an external editing system. I still have PSE 9 on the hard drive as well but neither is available. How do I correct this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been using lightroom 4. At first it decided that the center image just wouldn't display on some photos. The previews look fine, the selected photo preview seemed to work, but the center image would just gray out like there was no photo at all. I tried to uninstall several things, updated my video drivers, even changed virus protection just in case but nothing worked.
I have the creative cloud, so I uninstalled version 4 and upgraded to version 5. Went into my catalog and almost exactly the same thing started happening. This time, I can see unedited photos, but if I apply a preset the image disappears again. If I click off the photo and click back I can see the image unedited in the main window and the previews show it with the edits. Sometimes I can see the edited photo but at low resolution, but it will not sharpen up to the full image. I even cleared my preview cache just in case but nothing seems to be working.
I don't want to have to re-install windows just to try fix this.I should not that the only thing that changed is that I installed a new Epson printer in windows. I have now uninstalled all but the driver for that printer and still have the issue.
When importing files from a compact flash card (Windows 7, Lightroom 3 final) my "move" option is greyed out, and so I can only copy or add the files during the import. I want to move them so they are deleted from my CF card after the import

I do this for a couple of reasons, firstly if any of my image or backup file fails, I've got the option of downloading the image from the card again. Secondly, I like to ensure that all the storage locations on the card are used equally, to even out "wear."
I download using a Sandisk 'Extreme' USB2 card reader. Opening the Lightroom Import dialog, I have the box marked "Don't import suspected duplicates" ticked. I'm downloading a card which has a lot of previously imported images, plus a number of new images. Previously, the suspected duplicate images have been greyed out and only the new images are highlighted and only the new images download.
Just recently, despite the "Don't import suspected duplicates" box still being ticked, none of the already downloaded images is greyed out and ALL the images will download. I haven't made any other changes to the program or preferences, so I'm a bit puzzled as to exactly what is going on. I now have clear the check box for ALL the images and then just select the new images for import.
I am using LR 4.4 with Windows Home Premium 64-bit.
When I open Lightroom the develope module does not appear with the other modules in the upper right hand corner. How do I corret this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently opened a LR catalog from an external hard drive connected to a new mac pro. All the 'user templates' are there and all the images in each respective collection, although I had to re-connect them as the originals had moved to a new external hard drive but... most (not all), but most of the images I had adjusted in 'Develop' have gone. Most of the images I made a virtual copy of before adjusting have reverted back to the original raw image without the adjustments.
If I have to start all over again from scratch or is there a magic 'LR Develop adjustments' file I haven't transfere to the new laptop and hard drive?
About 1 week ago possible after I loaded Adobe Exchange the develop module slowed especially in the filter and brush tools. Perfectly OK in Library and other modules and had been working perfectly before the glitch. On WIn 8.1 6GB RAM Disk 550GB 1/2 full. Raydon HD3870 card 24 inch screen Set Cache to 30GB, tried with a new small catalog. 1:1 previews. all to no luck. Even repaired LR. Photoshop OK except for slow load. Other graphics programs OK.

In my workflow, I rate or tag a photo only after I've made some PP adjustment. So, my workflow would flow better if the "keywording" tab resided in the Development tab as well. Is this possible? Can you add a panel from another tab?
I subcontract a lot of event work. I'm still using an older MBP which is 32bit so I can't upgrade to LR4 yet which requires a 64bit processor.
The studio that contracts me is running LR4 and they don't seem to think that the develop settings I make in LR3.5 are transferring to LR4. Is this possible?
I'm thinking an easy work-around would be to export all the files as DNGs? This would automatically include all changes that I make wouldn't it?
