Lightroom :: 3.5 Won't Recognize Directories Or Import RAW
Oct 26, 2011
i am unable to import RAW photographs that are already on an external drive, imported by another program via a netbook in the field. Gives no error message, just won't recognize the directories. Will recognize JPEG though. Taken with a Canon xsi. Lightroom is on an HP laptop with plenty of oomph. Have been using Lightroom v. 3.4.1 with no prior problems for thousands of photos, now all of a sudden...????
just completed installation of LR v. 3.5 and same issue: unresolved.
I like keeping my videos in a separate directory from my images so they are easy to find and stream with media center. Is there a way to import both images and video from a card at the same time and have the videos go to a different directory than the images?
I have LR 4.2 and using Lion with a MBP. I recently got gps4cam for my iphone to record gps coordinates.
Unfortunately i imported all the pix of my vacation to LR instead of importing them with the gp24cam app first
So Now i have the xmp files with gps coordinates in a separate file for each photo, but LR even though ca see that file, does not import any of the info on it
Is there a way to force LR to read and recognize those gps coordinates without having to delete all the pix of my vacation from LR, and re-import them to my mac before with the gps4cam app and afterwards import em in LR.?
I mean i cant believe there is not way to do that... y LR can read and recognize gps coordinates if are on a picture, but cant recognize and attach those same coordinate to the original fine if they are in a separate xmp file?
I run 2 hard drives in my PC. One drive is for programs only. The second and larger is for photos/music. When I go to import the source pane ont he left will not recognize the B: drive, Only the C: drive and it will even recognize my M: drive with is my external. Im not sure what to do at this point to add the B: drive to the souce.
I've been trying to figure this out for over a week since I got my D800 and am not making any progress. I am using LightRoom 4.1 and Adobe Camera Raw 7.1 on a Mac OS X v10.6.8.
I read that I need ACR 6.7 in order to recognize the D800 NEF files, but I don't know how to remove 7.1. I tried deleting ACR from my .library folder and reinstalling 6.7 but it still says it's 7.1 when I open up LR4.1 again. Also, I only have Photoshop CS5 and I read that 7.1 supports the D800 NEF files in CS6 only.
On a probably unrelated note, I bought the educational version of LR4 and when I go back to my email that contained the download link, it shows a blank page on "My Orders" even though I've purchased this and other educational versions from Adobe in the last few years. I got the LR4.1 download file and reinstalled after removing the release candidate I was checking out, but wasn't prompted for my registration code that was in my purchase email.
How to setup all directories, folders and subfolders of files, on the left (in order by name). This is easily done in Photoshop Elements. How is it done in Lightroom 4.
I independently verified the M2TS files using MediaInfo.exe to identify that they were 16:9 ratio. But Video Studio Pro X5 seems to "misread them" at import as 4:3 ratio.(both as I hover cursor over file before importing into VSx5 and after import) The result is that the loaded file in VSx5 has black vertical framing added on the left and right of the video image in the preview window and any derivitive video files. Additional Info: the M2TS files prior to loading into VSX5 play in Windows Media Player at 16:9 aspect ratio with no black vertical framing.
There don't appear to be any patches yet for VSX5. Since obviously the VSX5 file attributes themselves are whats in question here, I've put both the output of MedioInfo.exe and VSX5 for the M2TS files here:
MediaInfo Output:
General ID : 0 (0x0) Complete name : H:VideoEditing2012_5_20_0_8_56.M2TS Format : MPEG-TS
I just upgraded from Photoshop Elements 6 to Elements 11 on a brand new iMac running OS X 10.8.2, but Elements 11 will not recognize my Epson Perfection 4990 PHOTO Scanner as an option to import from when I click on "File" then "Import." Is there a Plug-In that may be missing for this to operate as it used to in Elements 6 running on an older G5 Non-Intel processor? I don't have the new Elements 11 Disk to copy anything from, since I downloaded the program directly from Adobe.
Just yesterday I noticed that all my Xfrog plant models were black. They were still showing in the scene as black blobs, but on checking the directories to where the models and their images are--Maya could no longer read or find the directories. They were all still in the same place on my hard drive, and the path to them under the attributes for the models was still correct, but Maya said they weren't there (couldn't reload or click to view them.) Being a newbie I didn't have them all in the 'source images' directory of the project, if that matters, but I hadn't changed or removed anything and they had worked up until now.
I had to step through the different items, bark, branch, leaf, etc., and click the folder icon, reselect the exact same file/image, and poof, it works again. In some cases, just reselecting the file for one entry (e.g. a leaf) would then make the subsequent paths to that image work again, which saved some time. But it seemed like Maya somehow lost whatever linked it to the exact same directory and path that was still there in the attributes and still on the disc. Redoing all the links proved to me that the exact path still worked, but boy...what a glitch to have to go through and re-touch every tree, bush, leaf, etc.
The company I work for has security measures in place which prevent me from modifying any directory within the C: drive. This means, of course, that I can't add fonts to either the system fonts directory or the Adobe/Fonts directory.
Obviously, this is a huge disadvantage, and I'm trying to find a workaround. Any way to make Photoshop find fonts in a different directory? I'm able to create and modify directories on our shared server, so I'd like to create an alternate fonts folder there and point Photoshop toward it.
(I'm using CS4 on a Windows XP 5.1 . I'm a Mac guy at home, so I don't know much about Windows.)
Is there a way to limit the folder directory to only the last few directories?
Example:
If I have the file here,
C:folder1folder2folder3...folder10file.dwg
And I only need to know this,
folder9folder10file.dwg
Some of my files exist in folder directories that extend off the sheet within the plotstamp printing single line and I would like to shorten them to only show the last few directories as all the ones before are exactly the same. I do not want to change the plotstamp to multiline and I can not move the files to other directories as this is just how our system is set up.
I have done everything I can find on the web (reloaded files, downloaded new files, you name it) and LR5 still won't let me "use" my AVI files. I can see the snippets,, they appear to be there, but I cannot play them, edit them, scrub them, export them etc. Suggestions other than to dump Lightroom (especially since the Adobe chat service is useless)?
I have been trying to get the program to recognize the my camera. Adobe help says my camera is supported, but there is no information as to the specific steps that should be taken to set up tethering to a PC.
Lightroom 2 used to open the import window when I plugged in my iphone 3G but now it doesn't. It doesn't even show up and "import photos from device" is grayed out. I would like to be able to import photos from my iPhone as if it were a camera.
I've been using Lightroom 4 for over a year now to process NEF files straight from my memory card. For some reason, LR has stopped recognizing my NEF files. The only change was that I upgraded to 4.4 recently. I did find a free adobe program that converts NEF to DNG files, but it's an extra step I don't want to have to mess around with if I don't have to.
light-room will not recognize external drives but photoshop will reconize them they all show up on the right side of the import page but not on the left side
I get this new iMac (OS 10.8.2) and I upgrade from LR3 to LR4.1. I had Photoshop Elements 10 loaded first before LR. The problem is when I am in LR4 and I want to edit a photo in the external editor. It opens PSE10 but no window and no photo. I was able to do this easily on a Windows machine matching LR3 and PSE10 and figured this would be just as easy. Not to fast apparently. What to do?
I am using Lightroom 5 now. In the earlier version, I was able to create catalog & save them in external HDD. Similarly I could open any catalog from external HDD with the lrcat file extension.
However, in the current version, it does not allow me to create catalog nor retrieve catalog from external HDD. This means that I have to either transfer all the raw files to the HDD from the external HDD and then create the catalog in the laptop. After finishing all the editing, then copy and transfer everything back to the external HDD. I cannot imagine if whenever I have to edit something, I have to keep doing transfer between the laptop HDD & external HDD.
