InDesign :: Paragraph Styles Don't Show Up
Feb 24, 2014Paragraph styles do not show up when I open the panel. If I say "download" from the pulldown menu, it takes me to my c drive. I don't know how to access the paragraph syles.

InDesign :: Paragraph Styles With Default Text?
Mar 15, 2014Is there a way, maybe by script, to have a paragraph style include some default text?
For example, if I assign an empty paragrahp the Note style, It would display as formated, but would include the string "NOTE:"^t (i.e. NOTE: with a tab character following).
or perhaps the style Caution might display as formatted with the word caution in all caps underline (CAUTION) followed by a forced line break (^n).

Mar 23, 2014I have big document with a lot of headers and subheaders that I need to move around. It's too big of a job to do it manually so I want to use paragraph styles for this but I can't seem to find where to set this. Is it even possible?

Sep 22, 2012Can the "Basic Paragraph" style in Paragraph Styles be modified? How is this done?
I can bring up the Paragraph Styles Options diaglog by double clicking "Basic Paragraph" in the Paragraph Styles panel. I can also modify it, for example, by changing the font family. But when I click OK to save it, it creates a new style and leaves "Basic Paragraph" unchanged.
I know that the Basic Paragraph style can be modified in InDesign, but I don't see how to do it in Photoshop.
Photoshop :: Indexing Using Paragraph Styles
Jul 15, 2012I have a large book similar to the "Yellow Pages" and all of the business names are in the same Paragraph style. I need to index alphabetically. I done it for the first time last year and accomplished it through Table of Contents(TOC) I saved it in my How to and when I tried to do it again this year it's problematic, not only putting my business in alpha but also putting my page numbers in alpha (they don't match up).

Sep 17, 2012Is it possible to rearrange character or paragraph styles in Photoshop CS6? I've tried everything I could think of (Control, Command, Shift click etc.) to no avail. Rather frustrated as it's annoying having a messy styles palette but clean layers.
If this isn't an option why not implement it to function the same as the Layers Palette?

I can not use Paragraph&Character styles because those tool are made to tell us "please don't use this because this tool just for show off for new CS6 and not working actually".

Feb 18, 2014I trying to use GREP within a paragraph style to bold the title of a listing at the start of a paragraph. I want to limit it to the first set of quotation marks, and leave any other characters within quotes in that paragraph un-bolded.
I used the expression below, which i thought would start at the beginning of a paragraph (^), left quotation mark (~{), any character, any number of times (.+), followed by a right quotation mark (~}), followed by a space (s), zero or one times, shortest match (+?).
^~{.+~}s+?
Unfortunately, it bolds everything through the next right quotation mark.What can I add to the expression to restrict the GREP to find just the first set of quotes? These would be titles that may have multiple words or numbers in the title.

InDesign :: Crashing When Changing Paragraph Style Settings?
Apr 2, 2014I am working on a document - about 100 pages, mostly text with a couple of images.
Unfortulatly Indesign keeps crashing when I change the settings in the paragraph styles. eg changing the indents on a list item, or the amount of space before on the body text.
I am on Indesign creative cloud, and Mac Version 10.9.2

Jul 16, 2013I have to define the outline weight in my paragraph style to - let's say - 12 pt. How do I manage that? I can only choose from a predefined list, which is unsufficient.
It used to work in CS4, as you can see in the following screenshot.
I'm working with Mac, by the way, and I was told that this "bug" is not occuring on Windows..
InDesign :: Adding Index Entries Based On Paragraph Style
Apr 8, 2014I finally paid one of those conversion companies to convert this QuarkXPress file that I was working with to InDesign, since InDesign seems like such a better program. Everything seemed to transfer over smoothly, and I have now been editing this document in InDesign. Unfortuantely, after a bunch of new edits, I realized the one thing that didn't seem to transfer over was the index. The old Quark file had an index with about 900+ entries in it. Is there any quick way to add all those entries back without having to go through the document and highlight the text manually, one by one by one? That would take forever. Pretty much everything that's gonna be indexed is after a paragraph marker of the paragraph style called "gray box."
Also, since each entry is bold, it was set up as having a paragraph style named "title." If IND could find anything with that style and add it as an entry, that may make my job way easier? Or will I be stuck selecting text over the next day and manually adding entries?

May 31, 2012I go to Tools > Options > Paragraph Text Frame and untick 'show text frames'. I then go to Document and tick 'Save options as default....'. Restart. No change, I still see a red dotted line around the text frames. How do you turn these off? If I can't do that, can I at least change the colour?

THe panel is there with no info inside it. When i open the same job on another machine with the same specs as mine, the artwork is fine and i can see my object styles. WHen I open old artwork that has object styles set, I cannot see them, but again are fine on another machine.
InDesign :: Edit Custom Bullet Character Styles
Nov 11, 2013how to create a custom bullet using the bullet character style and configure it as needed. The issue I have is that I can't edit or delete a custom bullet character style once it is created. When I create a custom character style, it doesn't preview so I'm sort of guessing on things like baseline or vertical shift and things like that, so it is trial and error and then I end up with a bunch of extraneous character styles. What I really want to do is edit an existing one - is there a way to do this and I'm just missing it? And if not, can I at least delete the extra character styles?

InDesign :: CS6 Doesn't Import Font Styles From Word Document

I am placing a Word document into InDesign CS6, and no matter what options I choose in the import options, the font styles are not imported into InDesign At the same time, InDesign CS3 imports all the styles perfectly from any Word file.

Feb 18, 2014I just started using the new Indesign CC and one of the features that I miss is the blue outline that would appear around textboxes. It would allow me see where my text was and move it around. The new Indesign CC displays text, but with no outline around the text, which makes it difficult to re-adjust the box size and move around my text.
Is there a way to enable the text box outline to show when designing (not when printing) as the previous verisons of InDesign did?

I used to be able to select 'NO' in the LIbrary option of the Projects Folder but that optiion no longer exists.

Aug 8, 2012We've created a new parts list style for a border.When the border tempalt file is on the c: drive...everything works hunky dory...parts list, revision tables, etc.But as soon as we copy and paste that border into the template library folder for new drgs...the parts list style is missing from the local styles?
So to make it appear on the new document...the style manager has to be set at all styles and the new parts list style has to be saved to the document?What aren't we doing to make it appear on the template?
Also note that because the drawing border template is in a template folder as part of the design projects...it is NOT editable...so it has to be edited outside the template folder.
