InDesign :: Footnote Sending Remaining Text Into Overset
Apr 10, 2014I have been inserting footnotes throughout the story but when I reach a certain point and insert a footnote, it sends the rest of the text into overset.

View 2 RepliesI'm exporting a Book to PDF in spreads:
[Document A]
[Document B]
Document A ends with an even (left) page. Document B starts with an odd (right) page. I want those two pages to merge into a spread when I export to PDF, which simply doesn't happen. I'm left with two single pages instead. I have tried every option under Book Page Numbering Options. All my pages and spreads are allowed to shuffle. I'm working in InDesign CS6. I've wasted two whole days trying to figure out if this is even doable.
I have some text blocks in Illustrator CS 6 that display the red plus sign that indicates overset text but there is no overset text. It occurs in files that were created with earlier versions of Illustator and now we are reworking them. It can't be deleted. I have cut the text in the box and pasted it into a new text box to no avail. It is not a screen artifact. I have tried copying everything in the file and pasting it into a new file and the little red plus sign comes along. It doesn't print, of course.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI work for a company where we deal with Illustrator CS5 pretty extensively, and one of the things we do most often is place text on certain art documents. We've been having issues lately (human error) where we've been missing that we have more text in a text box and we're forgetting to expand it. Obviously the easy answer is to keep a keen eye out for the little red plus sign and expand the text box as needed, but any script or a clever way to have Illustrator notify us that there's overset text or an unexpanded text box present in the documents we're working on? It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just anything that somehow notifies us of that little red plus sign being present.
I know there's a script out there that will expand a text box if there's overset text and you have that textbox selected, but if I already have the textbox selected I'm fairly sure I'm aware of the overset text.
i want to check all the photo resolution within a file, before sending to print, is there a way to check them all in one time?

I have the following command in my VBA routine:
ThisDrawing.Utility.Prompt vbCrLf & "ABCDEF"
When I run my VBA routine from the VBA editor, the command appears in the text window of AutoCAD the way it should, but when I run the routine with the VBAload - VBArun commands (automated on a toolbar button), it does not. Do I need to obtain the AutoCAD object and issue commands that way instead of using the thisdrawing.utility method?
I am working on a graphic design project - a print publication for a client. The original Word document that is the basis for the report contains footnotes. Insofar as I am able to do so, I would like to retain my client's structure, including the footnotes. Is this feasible with P&GD 6 or version 7? I cannot find any reference to "footnote" in the help provided with my installation.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have hundreds of diagrams in Microsoft word that need importing to Indesign. I have imported the illustration part of the diagrams via Illustrator but i now need to bring in the diagrams' text labelling.
The diagrams have a lot of text labels which each appear in their own text box, but if I save the .doc as an rtf and import it into InDesign, it imports all my individual textboxes into 1 large textbox which I can't seem to separate them from.
If I select one of my labels in Indesign and copy and paste it, it is now a separate text box - great, but InDesign won't let me select multiple text boxes within it's large text box and it just is not feasible for me to be selecting each box individually to cut and paste it.
Edit: Each individual text box (within the large textbox they have been imported into) appears to have been anchored on import. If I release the anchor this does what I need in the same way as cutting and pasting, but again, indesign won't let me select more than one and it would take far too long to select each box individually to release it. So I guess I'm either asking for a different import methos, or a way to select multiple textboxes that have been imported into a single text box.
I'm printing a document trying to get two out of each page. I imported text, formatted it within Indesign cs3 and not it's time to copy the block and paste it onto the right side of the page. But the pasted version had a .50 tab at the first word which does not exist on the original side. How do I fix this?

X5 remaining in memory after being closed by pressing the x in the top right-hand corner of the application window?
Opening and closing Draw was giving me several instances running in memory. I had to kill them all using Task manger. It doesn't always happen so I haven't been able to pin down a reason. I'm using version 15.02.661.
When I create a new action, apply it and close it, at a latter date I cannot find that action in the Action Panel.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just started working with LR, importing photographs from my Nikon D800 folders and storing them on an External USB 3.0 WD 3TB drive (I drive).
I'm using LR4.3 Dell Optiplex 990 Intel Core i7-2600 CPU W 3.4GHz 16.0GB RAM Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, Storage 2TB Hitachi (E drive), 468GB available...
I've told LR to use drive I and I confirm in both LR and in Windows Explorer that that is what it is doing.
When importing, why does LR4.3 continuously tell me I have to delete files on my 'E' drive to "make room" the drive before LR can continue? The importing is being done to the I drive.
I need to position some shaded text boxes within columns of normal text that all flow over approximately 30 pages. This is so that whenever I make text edits in the columns I dont have to manually go through and reposition the coloured boxed.
The method im using at the moment is to simply cut and paste the text box into the columns so that if I add or remove a line, the box moves with the rest of the text.
However the issue I'm having is the internal text box overlaps the normal text unless i hit return 10-15 depending on how big the box is.Is there anyway to avoid this?

My text won't wrap around the bounding box of my object in CS6.

View 3 Replies View Relatedwe have tried EVERYTHING. we use adobe indesign for our school newspaper and for the past 3 days we have been trying to get one of the articles (text) to wrap around a photo. the photo is a simple rectangle shape. for all of the other pages, the text wraps around photos perfectly fine. but for some reason on this one page it will not wrap around any picture at all. of course "text wrap" is selected for the photo and we also tried going to the text frame options and unchecked ignore text wrap. that still didn't work. we tried putting it on "detect edges" and that also did not work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAny way to preserve spaces between text boxes or frames, in other words if i designed a template consist of two text boxes the space between the first and the second box is 9.77 mm then i removed some text from the first text box (auto fitting to content) so the height of the first text box will decrease and the space between the two text boxes (9.77 mm) will increase, what i want to do is to fix this space so if any text box decreased in height the other text box lefted up or down to fix this space (9.77 mm).

A client sent an InDesign IDML file. I opened it at exported its stories as .txt files.
When I tried to place the texts in a new InDesign CS5 document, the text displayed strangely. Mostly, I see rectangles with exes through them. It looks likethe headers of an unreadable format. Some of the characters are normal alhabetic glyphs.
When I open the text files in TextEdit, they display normally. If I copy and paste, the texts look fine in the InDesign document.
What could cause this problem, and how can I fix it?
How do you thread two different text box with two different text format? Eg. Text Box
1: Font Size 50pt...Text box
2: Font Size 10pt..
Once you thread the two text boxes; and delete the content in Text box 1, what ever the content that flows to Text box 1 from text box 2 should auto format to Font Size 50.
I am taking a long shot at this because I know its possible, but I cant seem to figure out how to do it. My problem is that I have a lot of resturants clients who have different menu (take out, dine in, delivery) that contain the same items over and over agian. Problem is that if there is a change in one you have to manually change it in other menus. I am wondering if there is a way to setup these menus where you change the text in one file (doc, txt, rft, incopy or whatever)? BUT the tricky part is that, each of these files have its own indepdent text & paragraph styles and that cant be disturb by the edits.
