The eyedropper in Illustrator is turning everything to black. I used it just yesterday and it worked perfectly fine. But for some reason now when I use it, it is turning everything to black. So I have to change the colour manually rather than using the eyedropper to get a similar colour.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've placed an rgb image and on top of that a vector square which I wanna give the same color as the bright green one in the rgb image. So I used the eyedropper tool on that bright green color. But as you can see it give a more dull greenish color. The document is in rgb mode. I would expect this more when I was working in cmyk but I ain't. Why isn't the eyedropper tool picking the bright green color? The image is in rgb, illustrator is in rgb, in photoshop I can see the bright green color in the rgb image. So why isn't illustrator using this bright green color with it's eyedropper tool?
Turns out the eyedropper tool only works correctly (while illustrator is in rgb color mode and the image placed is also in rgb), when the image placed is embedded and not just linked. After I dragged the image on the page and go to Links to have the image embedded and then use the eyedropper tool, I get the exact same color.
I have been scrolling through this forum and google, and have not found an answer. My Illustrator CS5 has been working all day, and I went away from it momentarily to pack some boxes for moving and the eye dropper tool started picking up colors that didn't exist in the placed image i'm grabbing from.(clearly not black within that circle...)
I "found" a solution on this site where you go into your eyedropper options and make sure your appearance boxes are checked, and they weren't so I did that, and now the eyedropper tool won't pick up any color at all. I have a project deadlines that require this program, and i've tried just about everything but re-installing.
Here are the way my settings are now:
How do I use eyedropper to pick up a gradient color? I have a color that has 45% opacity on it and I want the exact code of that color. If I use eyepicker, it will only pick up the original color (with 100% gradient). I tried using colourificator. Illustrator picked up that color but when I applied it to the object, it became a different color.
Is there any other way to pick up the exact code of colors that has an opacity? If I am to find the color that has an opacity manually, how would I find it in the color picker?
Below is an example:
1) First circle does not have an opacity.2) Second circle has a 45% opacity on the stroke, and I tried using colouricator to pick up the color3) Colourifator picked up the same color, but when I applied to the third circle, the colour is off.
I have styled a shape with 1 solid fill colour and 2 gradient fills. I am trying to use the eyedropper tool to sample the styles onto another shape - however it's only picking up one fill; the top one in my sample shapes appearances. I want to sample ALL of the fills, but can't seem to do it
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a black jpeg that i'm using in my illustrator document. I need to make the background the exact same black. I have a large rectangle for my background, and I used the eyedropper tool to select the black from the jpeg. The CMYK numbers are even the exact same, yet when I export the ai file as a jpg/png/pdf the blacks look different! We are going to press next week and I really need the blacks to be the exact same!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having this problem for a while with Illustrator CC but not with older versions. If I use the eyedropper to pick up a color, it captures that color and acts like it is applied but object/text continues to stay the older color. With text I have to use the type tool, highlight all of the text, and then select a color. This process if very annoying when I need to highlight and change several text boxes at once. I would like to just be able to click on the object/text and use the eyedropper tool to capture whatever color I need.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWith Eyedropper Tool click unselected Source Object, (which has 1 fill and 2 stroke attributes) the Eyedropper Tool stem detects Source Object's attributes...then, pressing Option key, click on Destination Object (which contains a default fill and stroke). The Destination Object only receives the base fill and stroke of the Source Object... it should receive all the attributes of the Source Object.
NOTE: 'New Art has Basic Appearance' is unchecked in the Appearance Panel.

When I run the script for an object selection, I want each object to have its color set to the underlying color as if I had used the eyedropper tool. Is this something that can be scripted?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe background is a gradient mesh(ignore the crosses). I used eyedropper tool(shift-click/normal-click both gave the same result) on the background and it gave me a strange result. As you see the back ground is blue-to-black gradation but the color picked is green-ish from nowhere.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhat i do is use the direct selection tool and click an anchor and then click the eyedropper tool on that anchor point What is happening is the the outline color is being selected. So i found out Illustrator CS6 you have to hold shift while clicking the eyedropper. I tried that and still can't get the color of the underneath layer, the fill color stays white? Here is pic:
As you can see in the navigator window, the shade of red is that of the outline and not the apple underneath the outline. I tried shift+eyedropper and white is the only color that get's sampled.
This problem happened only after I updated my Illistrator CS6. I'm on Windows 7.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am new to Illustrator. I have designed a new logo using Illustrator CS6 to the best of my knowledge. I now need to create business cards etc for printing but when I save it to jpeg it becomes very distorted after the file is uploaded to the printing site. Even if I cut and paste to another artboard it become distorted as well.

But when I write following code in my application :

what should I do in order to remove this error:
I've designed 2 artboards (basically two halves of one image) for a competition entry. Pieces can only be submitted in jpeg or png at 5mb max and using only one file. I've designed it at actual size (approx 4000x1000 mm). I have managed to reduce it and save the whole image as a png file (with a white gap dividng the two panels) I'm now thinking this is amateurish and the required bleed setting may have been lost. So,
1. The correct way to crop artwork to each artboard and export artboards to one jpeg or png file.
2. Maintain bleed settings around each artboard.
Can you turn a jpeg into a vector in illustrator 6?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to add text to my scanned watercolor illustrations for a childrens book I wrote. I am using Illustrator and I just loaded a jpeg image into illustrator, and it is HUGE! I tried to use the scale tool and I can't figure out how to get the jpeg image to shrink down to fit in the box! All I get is a blue snowflake and also a menu w/ choice of uniform or nonuniform for the scale.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried saving to web and exporting my file out of Illus CS6 as a jpeg to be emailed.
I then attached the file to mail and send it. But then cannot download the file! I even send it as windows friendly. I'm not sure what else to do or why the jpeg files are embedding in the email instead of as an attachment.
I have taken this sketch (jpeg) converted to .eps and performed a live trace in illustrator. I then go to live paint to select areas to fill with different colors, but the whole image is selected. It could have to do with me not being able to separate into layers before the trace, but i'm not too sure where i am going wrong here. I've watched several tutorials on turning sketches into vector files, but obviously im missing a step.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have multiple layers but only want to save the currently visible elements objects out in a PDF or JPEG, how do I do this without having to tediously double click each layer and choose "do not print" (layer).
Would be nice to have a preference in prefs to "not print hidden layers".
At my old job, when I exported sketches, it would automatically go to jpeg as jpeg was on top of the list. Now, I have to scroll through a lot of different formats looking for the jpeg format and of course, this takes up valuable time.
I make tech sheets in Illy at my job and need to export just about everything I do in jpeg format, for the benefit of others. I tried looking through the menus, but haven't found the answer yet.
I have CS5.5 When I open a jpeg in Illustrator, the "edges" (i.e. the box around the picture) prevent me from doing anything. When you hover over this box it actually says "edge". I am trying to ungroup a picture in order to (hopefully) change the colour of each item. I have tried the help pages as well as the Internet in vain. I have tried another jpeg just in case but the same thing happens. When I open the pic in Illustrator, the edges/box prevent me from proceeding further. the ungrouping and changing colours tasks?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I have a file in Illustrator that I want to save as or export as a PDF or JPEG whenever I save it the colours shift and the quality drops. Most noticiably black boxes goes to a muddy brown when saved to JPEGS, but I have also noticed tones in Photographs change quite a lot when saving as PDF.
I have tried to tweek every type of setting there is. higher resoulution, compression, sampling, down sampling, PDF preset, print quality etc.but nothing seems to sort it out. PDF's arent as much as a problem as the JPEG but the only way I have managed to get a PDF up to a reasonable standard is by wacking everything up so there is no compression or downsampling which makes ginat files I cant email....
Im sure the problem probably lies within the combination of each of these together but I cant seem to find out what that is. Also brown in the seat base has gone more orange and the whole picture has generaly lost quality.
