I am using a Mac running 10.8.4 and Illustrator CS6, on new documents I can not get the stroke or line weight below .0139”. I set the weight manually but it returns to .0139”, the weight will increase just will not go below .0139”. Any document that was drawn in CS2 retains its weight settings and I can even draw new items and have any line weight down to .001”. I can not go that low in a new document. All setting appear to be the same.
I am clicking on a line and altering it's stroke weight to numbers as big as 70pt, but the there is no visible change to the line! If I click off the line and back on it, it still says that it is 70pt, but this is not apparent! Have i clicked on something that prevents me from altering the line weights?
Is there a way or an option I am missing to convert my regular paths to a path stroked with a brush profile,while maintining the proper stroke width?
For instance, I have a regular line with a stroke of 5 and then add a brush profile, which then converts the original stroke to whatever the brush was made at.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but every now and then, my stroke weight rounds up. When I try to make the stroke 1.5 pts, Illustrator automatically rounds up the stroke weight to an even "2". This is very annoying when I need the line to be 1.5.
It doesn't always happen, but it drives me crazy when it does. what I've turned on, and how I can turn it off?
I'm unable to adjust the weight of a path. Here's a 40 sec video (no audio, 1920x1080) that demonstrates I know how to adjust the stroke weight on a path, followed by a demo of it not working when I try to adjust it:
[URL]....
Here's what I do in the video:
First, on a path that allows the change:
Select an elipse.Increase the stroke weight of the elipse.Control-Z to undo.Decrease the stroke weight of the elipse.The above demonstrates I know how to adjust the path weight (at least I think it does).Next, on the path that doesn't allow the stroke width to be reduced: Select path. Increase stroke weight to demonstrate it increases.Control-Z to undo.Decrease the stroke weight to .25 to demonstrate it does not reduce in size.
What do I need to do to decrease the weight of the path I am trying to adjust?
I'd like to know how to ignore the stroke weight of a shape in the transform box. In other terms, to only consider the surface.
For example, I trace a square with no stroke, and measures 100mm. When I add a 1pt stroke on it, I would still like the transform box to display 100mm, and not 100,353 mm.
I'm working on Illustrator CC (64 bit), Windows 7.
For some reason I cannot create a line weight/stroke under 1pt in Illus CS6. I will select 0.5pt but the selection keeps defaulting back to 1pt. I deleted my preferences, but didn't work. How can I fix?
I got this error many different times and the problem still continues.
When I change the stroke weight from the Strokes menu arrows or by scroll, this action changes my path's shape and distorts it. You can see the problem below:
I got similar errors when scaling a couple of times. But this one looks just impossible to me.
I'd like to make it easier for our 100,000 designers to use AI to make custom products using a laser cutter.
Current Practice Designers open our AI laser cutting design templates, add their designs using the AI settings our online pricing system can read, then upload their designs to our website for instant pricing, making and shipping.
The Problem Designers have to manually setup AI with settings that can be read by our online pricing system. If they get these settings wrong, our system can not read their designs. So they are rejected and can not be priced or made. This happens more often that you'd imagine.
The Solution Designers do not like design rejections. So I'd like to eradicate them by providing our designers with a version of AI that provides the following settings only:
* Set document to RGB * Stroke weight = 0.01mm * Stroke colors = RGB 0, 0, 255 and 255, 0, 0 * Fill color = RGB 0, 0, 0
This will mean designers have a very limited number of AI choices, with nothing to distract them or to get wrong. Which will result in less (or zero?) design rejections. And products made faster than before. Rejoice!
Question How do we program our AI laser cutting design templates so that when they are opened in AI, they auto set AI settings as defined above?
I use artioscad wich has a plug-in for illustrator. When I'm working with illustrator i can't change the weight of my strokes, color or fill, in fact i can't do anything, everything is locked. I have tried to unlock the draw but with n o sucessm I have to make the illustrations for the boxes I draw and using *.eps file is not my solution.
I am trying to create a script who could act as an Autocad plot (ie convert each color to black, with a different line weight).
Here is the first script I melted, who create my Black swatch
if ( app.documents.length > 0 ) { var myDoc = app.activeDocument; //add Black swatch var newSwatch = app.activeDocument.swatches.add() var newColor = new GrayColor(); newColor.gray = 100; [Code] .........
And here is the second one, who replace one color by Black (it don't change the text, nor the lineweight yet…
if ( app.documents.length > 0 ) { //test de dialogue function csDialog() { var fabGroup = app.activeDocument.swatchGroups.getByName('Fabrics'); var allFabs = fabGroup.getAllSwatches(); var fabNames = Array();
use of 'quality' and 'weight' under 'smooth stroke' in say dodge/burn tool. This option is available under some other tools too but I am not able to find the effect of these options even after scouring the net and could not find any difference after changing the default values.
Version GIMP 2.8.X from software centre of Ubuntu 13.04; no modifications, no extras.
I'm having trouble with stroke option in illustrator. It was working just fine but now its stuck at 1pt and I cant increase or decrease the stroke width no matter what I do.
I traced with pen tool a line and now I need it to make it same as this:
I tried to double click to stroke lines to bring stroke options and there are few strokes in library but not exact of this. I tried to play with size and spacing but I cannot reach the same result, how to do it?
I've read several things in this forum but nothing convenient. In the past I though I was possible to change the stroke thickness with no document open and that worked for all the new documents yet to come. Well, it doesn't. The default stroke size is 1pt and I want it to change to f.e. 0,25pt. But how?
Why is it that when I apply a gradient to a stroke I cannot use the gradient tool to change the direction or position of the gradient? I can make a fill and offset the path and then move that gradient (which is a very similar effect), but gradient tool does not work on a stroke. I am just baffled by the idea that I can put a gradient on a stroke but then only change it by using the gradient palette to change the angle and /or height /width...and that honestly dosen't work well.
I don't seem to be able to change my stroke in brush or pencil. It keeps resetting back to basic stroke 1pt/basic/uniform. The only way I seem to be able to go around this problem is to first paint something and then select the stroke and choose the stroke width, etc., but that's too time consuming and very difficult to work. I am using CS 5. "New Art Has Basic Appearance" is unchecked.
Im working on an object which has 4 anchor points, i would like to keep to black stroke for 2/3 segments of the object but i would like to change the colour between two anchor points (so 1/3 segments).
So i have this piece and i need to be able to colour different sections of the stroke around the whole piece with different colours. Also, i need to be able to change the width uniformly on sections between anchor points. I DO NOT want to use live paint as it takes away the sections of stroke i have tapered off already, however, the effect you get when using the live paint selection tool is exactly what i need
Is there a way of doing this at all?? It seems that i should be able to do it but i'm not able to find the right button, option or combination of both.......
I need the finished script to create a rectangle with no fill and a 20% gray stroke to outline each artboard. I dug this up off these boards, which works perfectly except the rectangles created have no fill or stroke. certainly save me a lot of time drawing rectangles on a daily basis.
#target illustrator var docRef = app.activeDocument; var artboardRef = docRef.artboards; for(i=0;i<artboardRef.length;i++){ var top=artboardRef[i].artboardRect[1] ; var left=artboardRef[i].artboardRect[0]; var width=artboardRef[i].artboardRect[2]-artboardRef[i].artboardRect[0]; var height=artboardRef[i].artboardRect[1]-artboardRef[i].artboardRect[3]; var rect = docRef.pathItems.rectangle (top, left, width, height); rect.fillColor = rect.strokeColor = new NoColor(); }
I have a question regarding illustrator. Let's say I have a circle with blue fill and red stroke. And I place an image in the illustrator file. Now I want to change the red stroke of my circle to let's say a purple color by sampling the color from the image.
How can I achieve that with a eye dropper tool? Every time when I try to sample a color from the image, the whole circle will change to purple instead of just the stroke? I have tried multiple key combination, shift, alt, ctrl but they all don't work.
I have a shape with a black stroke and green fill. I have a white line segment over it. How do I get it so that the end of the line segment doesn't show over the black stroke of the object? If I try to put the line segment behind the object, then the object fill hides it completely.
I'm new to illustrator and I've tried to search for an answer but I don't know the best way to accomplish what I want to do. Seems like some combination of transparency or knockout groups and I've read a bit about this and can't figure out what I need to do.
I need an outline on a stroke that i drew but when i apply object>path>outline stroke i keep getting my initial stroke applied as well. I only need the outline, not the initial stroke. I use Illustrator CC.
change line weight on a xref, i have went into each xref and changed line weight but when i view in model space the line weight is still printing bold.
I'd like to build a new wall type that displays with a different line weight than is set in the Cut Line Weight for the Wall objects.
I've been using object overrides to do this, but I'd like to have a wall style the pervasively dispays with a different cut weight than the rest of the walls. So it would have a different weight when cut in section as well.
In a sketch block how do you change the line weight..i tried through Block Editor but cannot change...lineweight is currently 0.25mm but i want to change to .70mm..
