GIMP :: Select Tool Won't Allow To Drag And Drop Anymore

I'm just getting back into image editing after a year of hiatus, and so I downloaded the newest version of gimp so I could get started. My select tool worked fine for a few minutes, then stopped letting me move pieces of my layer around. I was thinking maybe I accidentally changed a setting, so I fiddled with that, but no luck.
Select will still let me highlight and edit specific pieces of the layer, just not move them around. When I drag and drop, the piece of my layer appears as if I've selected nothing, and I'm only working on a single layer at the moment.

I made a web browser based model library for our assets for internal use. Ppl could "upload" their stuff to this site, add categories, tags, etc... and it worked very well. Since we moved to 2013 dragging and dropping from the web browser into max is not possible anymore. The files that were cataloged in the system had a local file link to the file on our server. So you saw the image of a model, and it was hyperlinked to the file like "file://///sever/library/maxfile.max", and if you dragged and dropped that image onto the MAX viewport, it brought up the import/merge file dialog. Not anymore.
I have everything running in admin mode, and I can drag and drop files from windows explorer, but that`s a big setback compared to the browser based system.

I update to 6.2 version and one feature i missing is the ability to drag and drop images from Google images on firefox to Corel. Before the update works fine...after its only import the name of file like " Kgcjfdag.bmp" and not the image. But in IE works fine.

I know this discussion title is a bit murky, but the problem is a bit odd. I have Photoshop CS6 v13.1.2. In this version, I will activate the Select Tool, check Auto-Select: Layer, check Show Transform Controls, and then while using the Select Tool I will drag to create a rectangle to select multiple layers with content within the specified area.Â
Unfortunately, this action only works when I begin the selection from outside of the canvas area. If started from within the canvas area, no rectangle will appear, it will show me a measurement of my selection size, and then no layers will be selected upon release.

This cannot be working as intended right? I mean multi-select dragging cannot be intended to only work when started outside of the canvas right? Is there some way to fix this issue? Is this a bug? See the images below for more information on this issue.

I was able to drag/drop 1 photo into the canvas but unable to drag anymore into same canvas. I have several layers with 1 photo, border effects, and type. but, cannot drag any additional jpg photos into project.

1) All of the computers at the office allow you to drag and drop blocks on the tool palette except one. You must go thru the Design Center to add blocks to the palette on this one computer.
2) Another tool palette question; a few of the blocks do not have an image on the palette, only the block name. They work just like the ones with images but a quick check of the properties indicates no difference. Why no image?

I have PDF images i.e road signs, is it possible to drag and drop from a tool palette.
At present i download an eps file of a sign, convert to pdf, then import in to DWG.
Can i make the PDF into a block...
Do i need to create a DWG of the sign and convert in to a block.
at present i am alittle lost with what to do... i am after a quicker way to reduce my time producing dwgs.
P.S at present i attach them as a JPEG

Magnify tool won't let me drag and select. Minute I try to drag, it goes super huge. Is there a setting to turn it back to normal.

I want to select a block, and drag it to a new spot. Then, I want to select another block in the same image and drag it to another spot, and repeat over and over. 3 years using the gimp and I cannot do this yet.
What I do is drag one area, save and close the image, then open the image again. Is this the way the gimp works?

My Type Tool does not select type by double clicking or click and drag. (Windows CS 5 V15.1). This is what I have tried so far and the problem still exists.

Check preferences for "Text": "Select text-object by path only" should be off. Checked. It was off. Didn't fix it.
Check the toggle for Show/Hide Edges in the View menu. Cmd(Ctrl)-H. Checked. Edges Showing. Didn't fix it.
Trashed my Prefeerences. Didn't fix it.

Is there a way to make the color select tool not only select a specific color but related shades as well. I have a graphic that is mainly shades of gray but with black outlines and divisions as well as other colors mixed in. I want to shift all the shades of gray to shades of dark yellow without have to select each shade individually.

I am using the fuzzy select tool to select a contiguous region of white background (to make it transparent). The flower has some white areas and it selects a small area of the flower too.
I have another whitish flower and I have no problem with fuzzy selecting the white background.....except when I add contrast to the image (and the white areas are also selected). I haven't found a way to add contrast after fuzzy selecting/adding an alpha channel. Is there a way to do this?

I am trying to align some stuff and having a heckuva time. Its basically this..
word * wordyword * wordhere * wordwordword
the * are little blue dots centered horiz and vert.Everybody is on their own layer.I am trying to get everyone equidistant, the words aligned bottom and the dots aligne center vertical.
I select the align tool, then click on word. Next holding shift I drag everything else and it is all selected. K. I have trimmed all the layers so all that is there are the things I want to align.
I have tried clicking everything in the options box and the closest I get is with distribute horizontal centers with offset but that leaves me with odd spacing.. if I simply select the text it is better, but the spacing is still not right..

When I use my mouse to use select tools (like the lasso, the outline lines that appear (that show the selected area) show up fine. When I use my tablet, usually, they are not visible.

I'm running Windows 7 here at work and I can't drag and drop scenes into the max viewport, or texture maps into the material editor or any sort of the dragging and dropping that I can do on my home computer or any of the other computers that run max here at work.
I'm using 3ds max design 2011, I'm running it as administrator and everything is up to date. I also can't drag and drop into photoshop, but I can drag and drop to the desktop and from one folder to another. So either both of my programs, on this computer only, had some setting disabled, or it's the OS. But like I said, I can drag and drop within Windows just fine.

I'm having this problem since the last time I formatted my computer. Basically, when I try to drag an image into photoshop, the cursors changes into a circle with a slash in it (unavailable).
I can open files by right clicking and choosing "Open with -> Adobe Photoshop CS6", and I can also open with "File > Open..." (ctrl+O)
I've searched for a soltion for this and nothing worked. This is what I've tried doing so far:
- Resetting the preferences (ctrl+alt+shift)
- Running with administative rights
- Running without administrative rights
- Making sure I have premissions for the files
- Making sure the files are not set as read-only
- Changing the scratch disk option (Preference -> Performance)

My Adobe PhotoDeLuxe was unfortunately deleted and I had to buy Photoshop, which is far less convenient for my needs. How can I drag and drop, or copy and paste, an image I have modified in Photoshop directly into another programme, in my case usually MS Publisher ?

I've been using photoshop cs6 Extended for almost a year now and never have had any problems with it. Recently however, I purchased a desktop with Windows 8, and when I reinstalled Photoshop on that, I have had problems since. When I move to drag something onto photoshop (Whenetheir it's from the internet or a folder on my Computer), A black Stop icon that represents my mouse refuses to let me. I can still open files normally with the "Open" tab in Photoshop I've already tried the following:
Running as both adminstrator and non-adminstartor Made sure "Clip thumbnails to document bounds" is checked" Resetting Photoshop Preferences Made sure none of files I wanted to drap and drop were "Read only" In addition, When I'm moving files, the background for some reasons flickers My OS is Windows 8 and my Version of photoshop is cs6 extended.  Â

I know how to create a command to point to the file and to do this but I would like the command to be called when I drag and drop the file into autocad.

I could always drag an image from a browser window onto photoshop and work further with it. But now this trick doesn't work anymore. When I drag now onto PS, PS show a dialog box with sizes and stuff and when I click 'ok', I only get a white canvas with the wrong sizes and when I paste (maybe the image 'hangs' in the clipboard) it pastes nothing..

On XP I can drag an image directly from Mozilla to Photoshop and it opens it in a new document.

I don't know what made it stop but at this point it's beginning to bug me to no end. I can no longer simply drag a file into Photoshop. I now have to go to "file --> open" in order to get anything into. Is there anything I can do to restore the ability to drag and drop? Just to let you know I reset the preferences already and that did nothing. The other thing is I'm running Windows 7, however I've never had an issue with PS on it. I'm using CS4.
