GIMP :: New Brushes Disappeared
Sep 16, 2011I added some brushes for the first time. When I opened GIMP the next day the brushes weren't there. What did I miss?

Photoshop :: CS4 / All Custom Brushes Have Disappeared
Sep 10, 2012I have some brushes that I'd used in Photoshop CS4 (still have Photoshop cs4 on my system) I'd purchased the CS6 Master Suite - and don't have those brushes in PS6.
I navigated to my Photoshop CS4 installation into Presets>Brushes thinking to Copy and Paste them into my PS6 installation, and don't see them there. Have looked both in 64 bit and 32 bit program area (I'm running Windows 7 64 bit system), and can't find all those brush presets anywhere.
Have tried searching for .abr files from the start menu but that's not pulling anything up (not even the ones installed with CS6 so not sure how to use that search properly or if it can't search by document type).

I've seen they are arranged by name, so how do you rename the brushes since renaming the file name don't rename the brush.

I remember using Slice in the past, but I can't remember if it was before upgrading to Gimp 2.8. Now, there are only 2 items (Image Map and Semi-Flatten) under the Filters/Web menu. Slice isn't there.
GIMP :: Decor Filter Has Disappeared From Filters Menu?
May 16, 2013My decor filter has disappeared from the filters menu. Was using it yesterday, no problem. Today, it's just gone. I have uninstalled Gimp and reinstalled it several times and that does not work.
The version I am using is 2.8.4 and I have a PC with Windows 7. I have been using the program for the last two months with no problems and the more I use the more I like it.
Just to add the issue, I installed Gimp 2.8.4 on my wife's computer, and the filter is there.
GIMP :: New Brushes Will Not Appear
Jul 8, 2013I have gone through the correct procedure for downloading new brushes from Deviantart. On my computer they appear now in my Gimp/brushes folder with the Gimp icon, so I know the file format is correct. I have closed Gimp and restarted..even restarted the computer and cannot get them to show in Brushes with Gimp open on a new project.

For the most part I found brushes with file type gbr and gih. These are recognized by GIMP 2.8.10
Some of the brushes come with file type abr and ggr. These are not recognized by GIMP 2.8.10
Is there some way to make abr and ggr file types work under GIMP?
Working with GIMP under Windows 7.

Mar 3, 2013Why I cannnot export brushes in GIMP2.8. Each time I attempt to export the file I get the message telling me the "Saving "C:Program FilesGIMP 2 shareGIMP2.0rushes snow.gbr failed. It says the permission is denied for opening that directory. I have saved brushes before and not had the problem.

I'm confused because even the brushes that are not in .abr form do not work. Also, sometimes if I try to fix the brushes by uninstalling and reinstalling there will be random ones that work and then old ones disappear?

Now I have look all over for a way to make brushes there own layer with out having to go through the hole seal of creating a new layer shrinking it to fit the brush. then having to drag the new layer to were I want it then having to place the brush.
I just wish to place the brush and automatically have it as a new layer. I have been told to look at Gimp::fu but I don't under stand how to do that kind of stuff.

Mar 9, 2013I used gimp 2.6 for awhile just to do simple isolations for various projects.
Recently my gimp 2.6 crashes while trying to load gradients, so i upgraded to 2.8 and all of the brushes that were in 2.6 are gone and NONE of them have anti-aliasing edges so i can isolate things with fuzzy alpha edges.
how to turn this back on or create a brush that has anti-aliasing edges?

Nov 14, 2012One of the features I use most is the brushes. However, when I installed Gimp (2.8) on my new laptop, my favorite brushes no longer work properly:
* they're jagged, pixelated, or the finer lines are interrupted - instead of looking smooth
* I can't change the color of them; they just show up black
I made a comparison of screenshots so you can see. Same brush, same size (even though one version says "scale" and the other "size," I made them both go up to the 100 pixel mark, and you can see that the brush's natural size is larger than that), same canvas size.
On my old laptop, I had Gimp 2.4.1 and the OS was Windows Vista, 32-bit. Here the brushes looked right: [URL]
On my new laptop, I have Gimp 2.8 and the OS is Windows 7, 64-bit. Here, I can't use the color from the gradient, and the brush doesn't look smooth (and the finer lines are interrupted): [URL]
