GIMP :: Can't Find Pictures Saved To Bin Directory

Oct 3, 2012

I have an odd behavior with saving, how to deal with. This is using Gimp 2.6.11 under Windows 7 Professional SP1.

When you do a "Save As" for a new picture, the default directory is "\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\bin". I have been careless and sometimes clicked "Save" without changing the directory. When I go to the directory "C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\bin", the files are not visible. But within Gimp, I can use the "Open" menu item to see them and open them, so they do exist.

how I can delete these files, because they don't belong in the bin directory?

Lightroom :: Change Default Import Directory From My Pictures To Somewhere Else?

Mar 31, 2011

Is it possible to change the default import directory from "My Pictures" to a different directory? It gets tedious to have to specify the directory I want to use every single time I import and I have not found a way to make this change sticky.

That seems like it should be a preference but I can find no way to make this change.

Lightroom :: Importing Of Pictures Takes 10 Minutes If Videos Are In Sub-directory?

Mar 11, 2012

My system:

- AMD 6 core CPU
- 8GB Ram
- Win 7 64bit
- AMD Radeon HD5770 graphic card.

LR4 takes 10 minutes or more to import 3 pictures. Importing these pictures in LR3 takes a few seconds.I did some checks: Using a new catalog (and not the converted one) and importing a sub folder of my picture directory has no effect. It takes also very long.

Importing a sub folder without videos is fast! But even if the videos are already imported (because of using the LR3 converted catalog), when adding new pictures to a subfolder it takes again 10 minutes. Importing videos in a fresh catalog does not work at all (they are only available if you convert the LR3 catalog) (Canon Powershot Ixus S95)

I have also a problem with playing (the LR3 catalog converted) videos. The video control bar does not react. After some minutes there is an error message that there was an error trying to work with the picture.

GIMP :: How To Restore Layers Or Previously Saved Version Of Saved XCF Image

May 2, 2012

I have a capstone lab project due tomorrow for my graphic arts class and I made a HUGE mistake!!! I created an image using 20 something layers and did SAVE AS as a .xcf image (with all layers open). Part of the project was to save in different formats: .xcf (with open layers), a .png, and a .jpeg (optimized). So, I did the first save and then flattened the image to SAVE AS a .png with a different file name.

Long story short, I was tired and had way too many images open at once. When I was closing all of the images I accidentally saved the changes (flatten image) to my original .xcf (with open layers)!!!! Now, my .xcf that is supposed to have open layers only has one layer...the finished project!! I tried going to the file properties to restore a previous version, but it says that no previous versions were found! I also downloaded a norton "unerase" utility, but maybe I am not scanning properly to locate the file!?!

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Set Variable Depending On Location Folder (find Directory)

Sep 20, 2012

We have user folders on severall servers, now I want the user menu's to be stored on the network so their home folder depends on what server it's located on. I tried using the vl-file-directory-p command but it doesn't seem to work.

Even worse, as soon as the userfolder is found I want to let the script check for a file called user.cuix in the Acad folder and if it doesn't excists copy it from another location to that folder (if possible).

This is what I got so far:

(setq UserName (getvar "loginname"))
(setq RootZW "\\users\zw\")
(setq RootVL "\\users\vl\")
(setq Company "\\CADConf\ACAD13\")

[Code] ..........

Next to this we have 4 other options as well, but to keep it short I left it at the first 2.

GIMP :: Pasting One PNG Onto Every JPG In Directory?

Jun 10, 2012

I have tried many so called batch plug ins and am now convinced that Gimp plugins are the new "Rick Roll" because not one has ever done anything or even been recognized by the main Gimp program.

I know there has to be a way to just select one transparent png file and paste it onto every jpg in a directory automatically. This of course assumes that all files involved are the same size and shape.

With 2.2, if I ran the GIMP from the command line, when I did File-> Open the file browser would open in the same directory that I had started the GIMP from.

With 2.8 the file browser opens in "Recently Used" and I have to navigate to the directory I want. Is there any way to make it open in the current directory instead?

Photoshop :: CS5 - Can't Find Saved Photos?

Apr 26, 2012

I just bought Photoshop CS5  this weekend, so I'm brand new to everything. I had edited a photo of my sister last night and went to save it by "save as" and I had made a seperate folder in my "pictures" library. Today I went to pull up the photo to show my sister, but the whole folder wasn't even there.

So I went in and re-edited the picture and saved it, recreating the folder and paying closer attention to what the picture was saved as (at the time I first saved it I hadn't realized that it was saved as a .PSD so this time I made sure that I saved it as a .JPEG). Still the folder itself isn't showing up. How can fix it/what am I doing wrong?

GIMP :: Get Current Image Filename And Directory Name In Script-fu?

Jan 30, 2011

I need to process multiple photos every day in the same way and am trying to minimize the effort needed by automating Gimp with Scrip-fu, which seems to be kind of limited. My plan was to save the files in specified folders and using incron (an inotify service) to open them in Gimp; do a manual perspective backward transformation by hand and start a script would, resize them and based on their filename and what directory they came from, save them to the correct folders for display on web pages.

I'm having difficulty figuring out how to get the filename and directory which the images came from.

Photoshop Elements :: Can't Find Saved Image Back In IPhoto

Dec 3, 2012

Just bought PSE11. Still using iPhoto as my organizer. But when I finish an edit and save, I can't find my image.

I understand that if I save without changing the file name or type, it should put it back in the same origin file.

I tried setting my save settings in PSE to write over original and it still didn't show up. I tried making a duplicate in iPhoto and editing it .... nothing.

In the destination box that opens upon asking it to save, everything looks good. ie it appears to be saving it in an extension on an extension of a numbered file in the iPhoto library.

Lightroom :: Find Pictures That Are Not In Catalogue?

Jan 30, 2012

I imported about 600 pictures of a wakeboarding friend into Lightroom. I then quickly scanned through them and deleted those that weren't good.

I wanted to delete these pictures from the disc. However, in about 10 cases I accidentally only removed them from the catalogue, not from the disc.

All wakeboarding pictures are in the same folder; there are no other pictures in this folder.

Is there a way to find which pictures are in that folder, but are not in the Lightroom catalogue?

GIMP :: Saved As RAW Now Cannot Open?

Jan 15, 2013

I recently scanned in an old photo and thinking I was being clever and losing zero quality, I saved it as a "Raw Data Image" using GIMP.

However, I cannot open it now, GIMP doesn't recognise it, and when I select Raw Data Image in the File > Open dialog, it just shows a garbled image and some sliders/numbers for me to play with.

Can I save my image, or will I have to scan the photo again (after spending months talking the owner into letting me borrow it and scan it in the first place!)

GIMP :: How To Disable All The Saved YAPs

Apr 10, 2012

I am working with literally hundreds of images. All of them either are now or will be jpgs. All I need to do is open them up, resize them and then:

1. Cut the canvas size down only on the Y axis and center the image

or

2. Increase the canvas size up on the Y axis and not center the image which requires then sizing the resulting single layer to image size

After that, I need to save it as a different file name and close it. That's it. No other functions, no other options, no other possibilities exist. This is the ONLY way that this job can be done, these images must end up in this format and size.

Again I am doing this to hundreds of files. I am being slowed down a LOT by all the foolish YAPs about "JPG can't handle this blank layer do you want to export, blah blah blah" and of course "You're saving as a jpg so what quality do you want to use?"

Speed is my concern. I don't care about the options because I don't have options for this project. I just want to get it done. All this clicking the chain to break the link between X and Y and then mousing to the Resize button and then hitting Enter twice but only if I sized the canvas up and using the layer options to resize it if I sized it down if extremely time consuming. I want to use the keyboard as much as humanly possible...all this mousing is creating carpal tunnel and the tabbing to buttons is stupid due to the 5000 tab stops on each popup.

Some of this I can accept...I suppose. But is there any way to disable the popups for the JPG warnings when I save? Again I am not wanting to discuss why I should be saving in XCF or the disadvantages of using JPG or anything else. I just want to disable the popups that are slowing this project down significantly.

GIMP :: Saved File Not Compatible?

Apr 23, 2012

Im making individual movie frames and the adding them together to make a movie. I saved as a bmp.

If I import to MS Moviemaker all is well.

However if I import to Adobe Premier Pro it won't see the image. But if I open the image with MS Paint, make a minor change and then save it, Premier Pro will see the image.

To simplify things. My bitmap works in Moviemaker. It won't work in Premier Pro unless I save it (the gimp file) with MS Paint.

I have seen this before with other programs. I'll edit an jpg and save it as a jpg. However some programs won't accept the modified image but they will accept the unmodified one.
