CorelDRAW X6 :: New Free Macro - Feathered Edges On Vector Shapes

Jun 22, 2012

BDSoft_Edge.gms

Attached is a free macro which allows the user to draw a vector shape and give it a feathered edge. The macro allows the user to adjust feathering and opacity and it came about as a result of the discussion in this thread:

A Suggestion for a "WOW" effect for the New Corel Draw X7

click on the small grey button at the right of the macro. how to use the macro. The macro currently only works on shapes with Uniform CMYK fills. I intend to bring out a revised version of the macro which can handle various fill types/colour models if I can pull it off.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 :: Macro - Spacing Two Shapes Using Worldscale?

I'd like to enter a value to space two shapes but use the currently set worldscale. How can I do this?

I'll be using a architectural scale such as 3/8" = 1'-0" and such.

= Round(txtScaleDen.Value / 144)
Call setDocScaleCheckbox(chkUseDocScale.Value, userWorldScale)

I hate pressing F8 at startup!

Photoshop :: How Do I Slice Images With Feathered Edges?

Nov 8, 2004

I have just completed a webpage in PS and want to slice it but I am not sure about how to slice my images that are feathered. Normally I would just create a slice around the borders of the image and then remove this slice in DW and insert the original Jpeg resized to suit. However the images in this page are a feathered.

I was thinking of perhaps slicing around the image leaving small border of say 5mm and save this as a jpeg. However howq would this match against the gif slices next to this. My background is an image so I am unable to just use a background colour option in DW.

Paint Shop Pro :: Oval Vignettes And Feathered Edges?

Dec 3, 2013

i have just downloaded a trial version of Paint Shop Pro X6 because I'm looking for a program that will go a good job on oval vignettes with soft (feathered) edges.

I can open the program and select a picture from my files. Through the videos I learned how to identify some of the PSP X6 tools. I click on the Ellipse tool on the lower left in the tool bar. Then it gets weird. Sometimes I'll make an ellipse on the photo and the ellipse outline stays there. Sometimes when I do this an oval is created. Every time an oval is created my picture is the background, and the part of the picture I want is white. It's like it's doing it backwards. I've seen the tutorials about selecting INVERT, but I've had no luck whatsoever with that.

This should be a very simple process, but I'm totally mystified how it works. I used to run a very simple program years ago that Microsoft put out called PictureIt. I really liked that program but it's outdated now and it won't work on the Windows 7 64 bit I'm using. I have tried several programs and Paint Shop Pro X6 seems to be the closest to Pictureit that I can find, but I'm expecting PSP X6 to be more advanced, precise, and better overall. In PictureIt I'd do the exact steps I just mentioned and the area I selected would be the oval picture, the rest was white, and then I feathered the edges. In PSP X6 it's mostly like that, but it's reversed. The picture I want is the background.

Photoshop :: Can't Warp Pasted AI Vector Smart Object Using Free Transform In CS6

Sep 5, 2012

I pasted a vector object into PS CS6 (13.0.1 x32) today directly from Illustrator CS6 (16.0.1 x32), and selected "Paste as Smart Object" (Windows XP Pro SP3).

I then tried to warp the pasted object using the Free Transform tool by dragging one of the corner handles with CTRL held down (Windows).

This usually warpsdistorts the object, but instead, this launched a skew operation.

If I paste as Shape Layer or as Pixels then apply Free Transform, <Ctrl + corner handle drag> performs a warpdistort operation. Also, if I rasterise the pasted AI object, and then convert to a Smart Object I can warpdistort.

Is it not possible to paste an Illustrator vector in as a Smart Object, and then warpdistort it directly using this technique?

Photoshop :: Vector Shapes Free Transform Tool Determines Shape Size

Jul 12, 2013

I'm experiencing strange behaviour of the Free Transform Tool.

Free Transform determines the size of the shape including the points handles. Tested the same in Photoshop CS6 but it works normal there. Check the screenshot please:

When you try to allign the shape to other one, this is how Smart Guides works:

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open Photoshop CC
2. Draw a random shape with Pen Tool.
3. Get the Move tool and hit Free Transform (Ctrl+T).
4. Enjoy!

Windows 7, x64, latest updates

Photoshop :: Edges Of Shapes...pixelated?

Feb 6, 2005

I recently switched from PS7 to CS and am having a problem. As far as I can recall, when I created a ellipse and filled it in PS7 it was crisp and sharp (like a vector).

However, if I do this in PS:CS when I deselect the shape, the edges of the circle are blatantly pixelated and rough. I am sure this is justa simple setting but I can't for the life of me find it.

The document type is RGB w 16-bit channels.

Illustrator :: Shapes Get Random Jagged Edges

Oct 9, 2013

I am working on a freelance logo and the client kept mentioning that my sample PDF's seem to have "smudge" on part of it, I never saw it and then I asked them to actually SEND me the file while I was not at my primary computer so I can look at it.

It seem that when you zoom in and out the shape changes and gets these random jagged edges.  I don't see them on my computer or phone and my client only sees them on her desktops but it does also print out with these weird edges as well.  I converted all type to lines and did an export to PDF to show her samples. The first image shows how it is supposed to look and how it did look when I first opened, the other 2 show what happens when it gets zoomed.  And it changes too, it isn't the same jagged edges every-time.

Illustrator :: Generating Randomized Shapes Or Edges

Jan 17, 2013

I'm trying to generate random billowy shapes (like cartoon clouds or bushes) by simply creating a shape and applying a some kid of brush/pattern/style/script/whatever to it and getting a look like in the below links.

The look I'm trying to achieve is visually simple: [URL] ....

I can easily draw those kinds of things by hand, however I want to be able to generate such shapes randomly.

Is such a thing possible? Are there existing brushes/patterns/styles/scripts that can pull this off? So far my search has come up with nothing, unless I'm searching wrong.

Generally I'm aware of what brushes and patterns can do, but as far as I can tell they always generate the same results each time you use them.

Perhaps a script can be made to do this?

Essentially a cloud could be drawn as a bunch of random circles grouped together, then all of them get merged into one shape.

Photoshop :: Combining Vector Shapes

Oct 16, 2012

Vector shapes, very cool! However, when I create the first shape, then choose a different shape, select Subtract Front, and create, it works fine—reverses out the fill, no problem. But if I have to redo the shape, still making sure Subtract Shape is selected, the second time, it doesn't reverse out. I've tried everything I can think of to inverse it... No luck! The only way I can get it to work on a redo, is by relaunching PS and deleting my settings. What am I missing?

Photoshop :: Vector Shapes Rasterized?

Aug 24, 2012

I am using Photoshop CS6

I'm in the process of preparing vector graphics for an After Effects motion graphics project. I decided to use the new vector features in CS6 because I am more friendly with the PS interface than I am with Illustrator.

I've created several vector shape layers that now, after some work, now look like rasterized graphics. I'm not exactly sure what happened but I am sure I have not rasterized them myself.

Also, when I import the graphics into After Effects, it gives me no option to collapse transformations or continuously rasterize the layers.

Have I done something to rasterize the shape objects in Photoshop? New shape objects I create are vector. Do I need to start over?

CorelDRAW X6 :: Creating Shapes Through Inverting Other Shapes

Nov 18, 2013

I drew something up on a sheet of paper, scanned it, then traced it's bitmap as line art. I then proceded to edit the vectors to recover all the detail I lost with the tracing. It took forever!

Now that I´m done, I realised there is a problem... how can I color in the drawing, if the lines themselves make up the shape? Essentially, I´m left with blank spaces in between all the lines instead of solid individual shapes that can be colored in.

What can I do? I´m so desperate I´m thinking of creating a gazillion individual shapes with the colors, and slapping them underneath the lines to "improv" a fill. But that will take waay too long, so is there an easier way?

If I could "invert" the shape I have now, so that the blank spaces become individual shapes, and the lines become blank spaces.

Photoshop :: Random Shapes Appear When Using Vector Mask

For several months I have had random shapes appear in my files when using vector masks. The scrambled imagery only appears at random and at certain zooms (over 25%) and will disappear upon restart of Photoshop. If I flatten the file, it will retain the scrambled imagery, but otherwise it seems to not actually corrupt the data, just the view on screen. I've been fighting this for months and have replaced drives, video cards, and it still persists.

How can I easily get my catalogue into the shape tool? ie convert .eps to .csh?

The import is far to unwieldy as I can't even browse my library of eps files...
