CorelDRAW X5 :: Edit Bitmap Command Lost After SP3
Jun 7, 2011
Re: CorelDraw X5 v 15.2.0.686 [SP3] + Windows 7 x64
After applying SP3 Draw X5's 'Edit bitmap' command is always greyed out, regardless of the bitmap selected — even when the originating file is a CPT.
At first I thought of a corrupted Workspace, so I reset Draw with F8 at execution. No dice. This makes me think there may be an odd Registry setting or ini file entry that Draw needs to 'find' Photo-Paint X5. Photo-Paint appears to have emerged from the update unscathed.
I recently jumped from C-12 to X5, and now I simply can not work properly.
After creating an image and converting it to a bitmap, if it is converted to RGB I get the "failed to launch server application" error, while in CMYK everything works fine.
After Installing Corel X6 I found it's no longer possible to edit bitmaps directly from CorelDraw X5. I uninstalled Photopaint X5 but that didn't work. I checked the filetype and made sure that cpt files were opening with Photopaint X6 but Edit Bitmap remains greyed out in CorelDraw X5. Is this because X5 is 32 bit and X6 is 64 bit? I still need to use X5 because various macros don't work with X6. How can I get Edit Bitmap to work both in Draw X5 and Draw X6?
We have just purchased X6 and are having difficulty editing a bitmap. Its unable to be selected.
After reading your posts here we have tried the following which we find quite annoying for a new program.
Surely this is something simple we have missed. All we have done is installed the X6 and run the program , clicked on a bitmap and nothing ??? This has really left a bad experience especially when we just purchased this program and it cant even edit an image. The customer support was terrible , I had to ring back because the person couldn't hear me about 8 times. It was only a search on the web that led me here.
When having photos in CorelDraw, I need to edit them so I right click on the photo and select "Edit Bitmap". I am not too familiar with Photo-Paint, and wonder if I could link to another application (ie photoshop) to make my bitmap changes.
I created a bitmap in draw 15" x 131" then right clicked the image and selected "Edit Bitmap". The image grew to 19" X 131"... I did this again just to verify and got the same results. I resamled the image back to 15". This is a big concern as we process all our printed images this way.
I have just run CC Cleaner and Glary Utilities , which we have been running for years , and every time it removes the Edit Bitmap link menu, in other words it greys out.
How can you edit the bitmap in Photoshop ? And get it the edit Bitmap menu functioning ?
I downloaded Corel 15 trial verson but decided not to purchase. After trial I uninstalled the trial. Now when I use my pre-installed Corel 13 when I try to edit bitmap within Corel draw it open Windows 7 paint instead of Corel 13 Photo Paint. I tried doing a re-install REPAIR but I am having same issue.
using CorelDraw 5 with Parallels 7 on a MacBookPro to access Windows 7 and CorelDraw X5 -
Normally CorelDraw x5 will launch Photo Paint when you choose Edit Bitmap from Corel Draw. Then you can edit in photo paint and on save and close you are back in Corel Draw and able to continue there. However this is not the case for me with Parallels 7. It does not launch Photo Paint as expected.
URL.... "Failed to launch server application" when trying to edit a bitmap out of CorelDraw, only later saw that specific post was for X3. I have the same trouble, only with X4.
To recap my problem: When calling the "edit bitmap" function in X4 - I receive this message: "Failed to launch server application". Paint opens, closes, opens, closes and then the message pops up.
I tested several files, different bitmaps, different dpi's, new files with newly converted bitmaps (filled rectangle to bitmap). To no avail.
complete Corel X4 uninstall 3 times already .... even went so far as to reboot the registry to a date before I installed Corel X4 Suite to no avail.
The program has had no issues until the last 2 weeks. The actual issue I am having is Paint works fine as a separate entity however when I try to edit a bitmap from within X4 an error pops up telling me "Failed to launch server application" This is a major PITB as I own a graphics company and this is causing no end of problems
I am currently using this method, creating a 1-bit bitmap from a grayscale "distress" texture bitmap, choosing transparent fill or outline depending on which area i need trasparent and powerclip it in text or other vector object.
Is there a way to achieve the same distress effect with transparency with FILL ? pattern fill maybe? eg can i save in some format this bitmap to use it maybe as a pattern in pattern fill and retain transparency ?
A customer sent me an RGB bitmap with a transparent background. I converted it to a grayscale and I erase it in PhotoPaint but can't paint over it. This isn't the original bitmap, I converted it and assumed that would get rid of any clip masks or other attributes.
how to add macros to my ACAD 2014 to count blocks, I managed to lose the "copym" command while trying to figure how to create a button in the user interface found in the ribbon bar under the customization tab...when I type copym into the command line, it wants to prompt me to finish the command string using the command "copymode" and doesn't even see that the command "copym" even exists in the list that is created. (the list that's created by an autocomplete function)
I found the command in the list while making a pull down menu item selection button for "copym" utilizing the user interface in the ribbon. I drug the command info for "copym" to the menu bar using the user interface feature. The command is there, all the info seems to be correct, I even managed to make a menu selection for it in the pull down menu. But when I select that menu item, the command line says: UNKNOWN COMMAND "COPYM" Press f1 for help.
I think I accidentally deleted something, just wondering how I can get my "copym" command function back into AutoCAD from never-never land.
I'm an Autocad 2004 user and I was working in a auto cad drawing and I wanted to install a new hatch file and now I cannot get any of my short key commands, Z zoom, Line, Circle, Etc. every time that I enter a command I get a message saying Unknown command Press F1 for help.
I've hit since upgrading my Photoshop installation from CS5 to CS6 about a week ago. I'm using Lightroom 4.3 and all was fine when I had PS CS5 installed. Since installing CS6, however, Lightroom can no longer find my Photoshop installation and, as a result, all the Photoshop-specific "Edit In..." options offered by Lightroom ("Merge to panorama", "Open as Smart Object", "Open as layers", etc) are greyed out. I use these a lot and would really like to get them back but I can't see anything that lets me point Lightroom at my Photoshop installation other than adding it as a new external editor (which doesn't reinstate these options).
My edge animate project don´t work anymore. When i opened the index file in the browser, the browser was empty! I have stay all me files (actions, preloads and more).I have previewed before that i could not edit my project in edge animate .
One of our tech writers has a handful of screenshots (mostly JPEGs and TIFFs) that he wants to use in a manual. However, the customer requires that the graphics provided to them be in .cgm format.
Despite all of my attempts (using CorelDraw X5) to import the bitmaps and then save as or export to .cgm, the customer says the files are "blank" and unusable. When I try and open the .cgm files I created using a web-based file viewer, the graphics show up as completely black. I have opened known good .cgm files with this same viewer, and the graphics show up as expected.
I have tried all of the different options avaialble to me (to the best of my knowledge; to call me a novice with Corel would be an understatement), with no success. Am I missing something? Or is there some other way I should try and accomplish this?
I might be missing something when searching for macros that allow you to do this but I thought I'd give this a shot.
Is there a way to copy a graphic from Photoshop using Cntrl+C and then use Cntrl+V to paste it into CorelDraw as an actual Bitmap and not a Photoshop object that I will have to then use the Convert to Bitmap?
Is there a way to set the "convert to bitmap" defaults? Specifically, in X5 I find it defaults to "transparent background" checked and I'd like it to default to no transparent background by default.
I am creating a backdrop in CorelDraw XV from a 9" 600 mb tiff. I need to have a finished product at 240" wide, 60" tall, so it can be blown up to 40'X10'. The largest that it seems I can go is 50" wide.
