View 1 RepliesI want to use an image I have imported to Coreldraw x5 as a reference picture to trace around.
I am not sure how to dim the opacity of the reference image so that It is easier to to trace around.
I have imported a 2d drawing of a vehicle into coral draw x5 from auto cad. Problem is that when I zoom in all the lines do not seem to be joined especially curves, this in turn makes it a pain when filling with colour. I have recently traced one side manually using line and curve tools but my question is, is there s quicker way of tracing a dxf without manually doing it? And if so how to do it?

i'll attach the image .
I'm trying to get a clean line drawing from a bitmap. I've attached a cdr with a picture in it. I just want the picture to look free-hand drawn with simple lines. When I traced it, it makes jagged edges and seems to be too detailed no matter how I set the trace properties. I cannot draw free-hand myself at all, or I would just re-draw them.

Also need the basic steps to import my photo to trace complete hole and save the finished product to print.
I need the grid lines to remain in the final diagram.
I have created the following:
However, I cannot fill the objects. I am guessing that they are not actually objects, and just lines on a page.
I am trying to do a bitmap trace of an image. The resulting vector is OK, except that, between every shape of a single color, there is a line, and that line is made a color, either transparent, or a specified color - and thickness.
The preview creates a desired result, but the end product is the problem. When I click on the vector, I can change the color of the lines between the colors in the vector, and in the dockers, I can change the thickness to "none" but a line still exists between the shapes. The previews are just fine, what can I do to make this guy not look like a puzzle? Its as if the shapes in the vector do not touch each other. The previews show no lines between the shapes/colors, except in the final output.

I am practising filling objects with color. I have attached a file of a design drawn freehand, completely as a random shape. Why I am unable to fill the top left part of the design (above the dark blue) with any color?
So far as I can tell, there are no gaps. Also I have used arrange/join curves to close any gaps. Whatever I try, I cannot get any color in to that area of the design.
I added a patten fill to my libray, saved my default setting so it would stay, now everytime I draw an object it is automatically filled with that pattern fill...I even deleted the pattern fill from the library, saved default settings again, restarted corel, and it still fills an object.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to lock text when it is on a path? I'm fine with locking both the text and the path, but it seems it isn't possible. Not to lock just the text or both the text and path. The option is greyed out. What purpose would not being able to lock an object serve?

View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to see or determine the start and end point of a drawing path? I'm exporting a CorelDraw file as a .plt file to a plotter/cutter and the manufacturer of the plotter/cutter saws the start point of the cut is determined in CorelDraw.
I want to be able regulate where the cutter starts cutting the material and where it stops at the end of the cut path.
I have CorelDRAW X4, when I open some file(s), which takes long time to open, even which file size is smaller or bigger.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen designing brochures in X5, we quite often will save a file with no issues, but when we go to re-open it we end up with "encountered an improper arument" error message and the file is no longer able to be opened.
If you try to open the backup it comes up with a "runtime error" and won't open either. We are running Windows 7
In Corel draw, I click file, open, and the location is not the folder I want. I have created shortcuts. How to change this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAbout a month and a half ago, after a microsoft update, I cannot open .cdr files from the file/open list. When going to file/open, the programs hangs up, cannot even use "cancel", and have to go to Windows Task Manager to shut down the program. All is well until I try to open a file from file/open.
I can import .eps, and everything else seems fine.My work around is to open from My Documents --Which works fine. Just is a silly little aggravation.
I have uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired, etc....all the normal fixes.
Q When I import an EPS file into CorelDRAW, and print to a non-PostScript printer, the output appears pixelated and unclear. Why?
A An EPS file is a Postscript (PS) file and meant to be printed to a PostScript printer. When printed to a non-PostScript printer, it will only print the file header which is a low resolution preview of the actual file. If you wish to print the actual contents of the EPS file to a non-PostScript printer, import the file it into CorelDRAW using the PostScript Interpreted (PS, PRN, EPS) filter. So, apparently it can be done, but when I try to import this file into my Coreldraw, there is no option to import with that type of filter that I can see. Is this something that is missing in v12? If v12 wont do it, is there any other way to import this file without it coming in all pixellated? Or is there another way to convert the file into a format such as .plt?
I'm trying to open an eps file in Coreldraw X5 and it's blank. Someone could try with illustrator? URl....
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have looked at the galleries and saw some excellent pictures. Since then I no longer can open any file . I uninstalled Coreldraw 15 and even went to repair mode, still no luck. (I reinstalled and removed many times).
I reinstalled Coreldraw 14 and any file I work on and save and close I cannot open the file.
It seems I have picked up a virus from the pictures I uploaded from Corel gallery.
I have been using Corel since 1989. I simply downloaded a pic from Corel gallery and even removed C15 many times still no joy. All hundreds of files are effected..

It seems it cant be opened or something like that. But anyway it still sizes 2,94MB, so I am hopeful to recover it.It was a lot of work for me wasted. I tried to convert it to x5 format in URL....
When I want to flick from one file to another in X5 draw the tab to bring up the second file is hidden behind the open one, is there a way or a short cut to save me having to minimise my open file to see the tab to maximise the second?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHalf a year ago I started on a project with a CD-cover that wasn't finished. Now when I want to open them, It's impossible. If I click on the files X4 opens and immediately crashes. On all CDR files. Same thing with X5. but I can open a CDR file in the folder next to this. Even the backup files seem to be corrupt. The CPT-files do however open fine.
If I start the program first and then open or import a CDR file, the progress bar halts at about 50 % and then nothing much happens.
Any chance of recovering the files, or do I have to rebuild everything?
I know one strange thing happened when I created the first file. I saved the Digipak format as a new page format and then that format stuck as default page size. I tried many times to reset it to A4, but I didn't succeed with that until I reset the workspace.
I checked the CDR files in ZIP format. In the XML file I coud see that the industry was identified as "music". How could that happen?
I just replaced the hard drive in my laptop. I have installed Coreldraw 12 again and it opens and works fine.
Problem is when I create and save a file. The file appears on the desktop ( if that is where I save it ) but it has an odd icon with a red A on the bottom corner. If I click on it, I get a "not a valid win32 application" message.
However if I open Corel12 and import the file, it appears to be fine.
When I open or import a DWG into CorelDraw X6 it changes the colors (see image).
I tried changing the Color Management Settings to Minimal Color Management which is suppose to preserve the original color when opening, importing, and pasting, but that doesn't work.
I am a long time user of Corel products (well, since Corel 4). I have been running Corel 12 for several years, as financially, as a pensioner it is not viable to keep up grading and 12 has been perfectly adequate. I am on Windows 7 Home premium, and I know that 12 was not designed for that platform, however it has been operation satisfactorily since 7 came out. Today, It has crashed, and I am unable to open photopaint at all either from the shortcut or the program list.
(Corel Draw, which is the only other part of the suite I use) appears to open and be available. I tried to repair with the original disk to no avail, so that having failed I did an uninstall, cleared the caches the temporary files and did a clean install. Corel Draw is still working, but Paint will not open at all. The logo appears then totally disappears after a few seconds leaving the desktop clear. There has been no changes to the computer recently and until last night the program was working fine.
When I open file "A" the layer defaults to "Layer 1". When I open ad "B" the layer defaults to "desktop".
What is causing this? ..... I would like every ad to open with a Layer 1 default. How is this done?
I use Corel X5 and I don't have any problem. One of my suppliers use version X3.When I save files for this supplier, I saved them in version X3 format. But when he open the file, some graphics are missing.
I can't see where the problem come from. When I re-open the version X3 file with Corel X5, the file look fine and everything is there. The supplier keep saying that the problem is on my side. I asked him to upgrade to X5 as I think it should solve the problem.
Problem getting the Contour Docker to open? Menu option is there in the Window/Dockers menu, but doesn't seem to work on my system.
