currently on trial with X5 (on jobsite)...registered user of X3...is there a way to "lock" pen weight and color with each layer? doing tech Illustration, would be useful to maintain line weights used between layers.

I would like to understand !At the moment some of my files are 20 to 40 Mo. It's begin to be heavy and it leads me to ask you a second question :Do you have some tips to do your .cdr files & .ai exports lighter ?At the end of a work, I often have to export it in .ai, and sometimes it's not good.
Do you know any QUICK method to export without problems with weight, colors or transparency ? On this subject the last version of coreldraw seems to be better.Otherwise, I try to export in pdf and then I open it in illustrator, for finally save it in .ai.But unfortunately I loose the plans in this ways.To return to the problem with .cdr files's weight, maybe must I use the links method, as existing in Indesign?I used before links with bitmaps in Coreldraw but I think it's not very well, lots of bugs.And above all, apart bitmaps, what is making the weight of some large cdr files ?

Is there a way to apply a color to selected objects without having to search for the color in the color palette. So say if I am working with an image that has multiple colors but want to use only one of the colors in that image, is there a way to apply it without having to create or add it to the palette.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm having a major issue here, I use custom colors (created in my custom palette), X^ used to hold it very nicely, even in PDF exports etc.
Now - with the latest update, X6 "forgets" the custom colors, it resets it to default color, I have to manually set every object to the custom color all over again.
Is there anyway to transform a 4-color CorelDraw picture into a 2-color one at reasonably good quality?
The problem I met is at the galley.
I could, or might, only be able to get a 2-color printer at reasonably good price.
The original design is 4-color. But the actual detail is not very important.
They are book covers, which only need to protect the book.
The exported picture is shown below:
To create 2-color artwork from any colored vector clipart I used to be able to:
import colored clipart convert to CMYK if needed select entire graphic and create new styles with 2 parents change (edit) the colored parent to a named Pantone spot color (the child colors automatically become percentages of the Pantone spot color) "find and change" the remaining CMYK to Grayscale, and then back to CMYK (this ignors the spot color and converts the annoying rich blacks to percentages of K) export to a PDF file--which when imported into, say, InDesign, will separate on the K and Spot Color Plates only, in all its glorious shades of gray and tints of Pantone spot color.
I'm completely at a loss on how to do this in X6, and I'm on a short deadline.
Is it possible to export each layer to a different .png?

upon closing to pdf for print a 30 pages documet, whoes background and main data were defined on top layer for all pages, the pdf is comming out without that layer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am creating a brochure in X3 and when I do a test print one of the layers is not printing. Although I have actively used layers in Autocad, I don't mess with them much in CorelDraw. However I do move objects from front to back and vice versa.
When I started having this problem I went to the object properties to see if the layer was turned on. It was. I don't know if it is related but when I do a print preview the whole program becomes uncharacteristically unstable and shuts down.

i went to object manager but i don't know what i should do to stop it.
When I open file "A" the layer defaults to "Layer 1". When I open ad "B" the layer defaults to "desktop".
What is causing this? ..... I would like every ad to open with a Layer 1 default. How is this done?

My question is, can I create the artwork as a whole (multicolor/object artwork), having different objects on different layers and export all the layers to created into multiple PNG/JPG files ... with one click?
For example, when someone does screen printing on tee shirts, they have a 3 or so color graphic. I would need to export each color individually as a raster image (Export one, then export again, and again and agian blah blah blah). That would be needed to create mulitiple silk screen frames.

How to get a background, the same on every page of a booklet, with bleed for printing? Using Page Layout/Background will only size to the page, no bleed. There must be a way to have a Master Layer as a static background (with bleed) but when I try it always sits on top of every page & I cannot bring the page text to the front.

View 5 Replies View RelatedYesterday CD upgraded itself as I turned it of to go home from work, when starting it the day after all seemed to be as it was util I should print out a color separation. Suddenly I now have to check every color that I want to print out, the only color that doesn't need to be checked is black(cmyk black) all pantoen colors have to be checked.
Why is this changed?
Can I set it up so all colors is to be printed as default?
Also having some trouble in exporting to EPS, when exporting all seems fine, but the file appears to be empty, the next exported files seems to be fine thou. First export is always empty.

For some time we have problems with the colors.
As standard pallette we use Pantone Coated, but after I export a .cdr to .eps some colors are replaced with a new color with the same name, when I open it in Coreldraw again afterwards. The colors are placed in a new user pallette and have different CMYK values.
How knows how to keep my PMS coated pallete?
Color nodes are blue by defaut. When I draw something with blue, I would like having red nodes, or another color. I guess there is a set-up for that, but I realy don't find it.
How do we change nodes color ?
On the bottom page the outline box has a white vertical square/line on the right of it. Since this happened my outlines are transparent when place on top of other objects. How can I fix this to get it back to soid colored lines.
