AutoDesk Smoke :: How To Disable The Big White On Black Messages
Jul 25, 2013
I am wondering if there is any way to disable the big white on black messages that appear for 'Pending Render', 'Unlinked Media' etc
I find it best to work with my prefs on 'Show Selected Item' & it's a little annoying that these are so big & ugly, and also so peak white & black (worried for my plasma)

Thinking they may be the cause of very slow startups, I followed these instructions. URL...And now the Multi-purpose daemon won't start/unknown.
I have a project with proxy is on. In some situation i want the proxy to be off. Like for example when viewing my timeline edit. the output resolution (in viewer) is using the proxy ( lores). How can i disable this ? can i do that without turn off the proxy in project setting ? how to tell the viewer to display the hires version not the proxy?
I have been looking for a while for a way to deactivate or disable a node in CFX. I know there is a way to disable nodes in Action by hiding them. Is there a way to do this in CFX? It would be handy to turn on and off a node in a CFX tree to see its effect on the whole tree.
inside CFX, when i move node in a network with a lot of nodes, sometime when i drop the node, i can accidentally connect it to wrong node, as there will be a lot of connection line in that area. So is there any way i can disable this autoconnect feature temporarily ?
I have a greenscreen shot, which I keyed using the modular keyer inside action. The key looks good. Then I export the front (on black) and the matte. When I now grab the just rendered out files, and put them back into action, I get a black outline....
I tried to render out the front on white, but then I get a white outline.
I also tried dividing the clips before exporting, but I still get an outline.... what can I do?

I have a shot with a white background. There is some text that has to disappear somewhere into the white, so I figured, I'm just gonna load in a white color source, lay it on top, and put it in front of the text in z space. But nope, the white doesn't match the background white. It looks grey. I tried to apply a CC, but that doesn't change anything.... I already restarted smoke, but that didn't fix it either.
What else can I do?

Actually, we are working in this project: URL....and we have a big problem, cause our problem is the same like this: URL....
but absolutely out of control. We are desperated, because deadline project is coming to the end..We work in Smoke around 85% and is a 90 minutes film. Is a huge project..We use pre rendered CFX.
Whenever we try to import video clips they show up as all black. The length of the video is there, so it might be 15 minutes of black. But no matter what video (Sony, Red, etc.) it's all the same.
We're running pre-release 3 on the latest iMac. As far as we know the graphics card is compatible.
I have a black bar on the top half of my screen when i render on the timeline after leaving CFX. when I enter CFX everything looks good, but once I am on the timeline I can't se the top half of my footage. This happened when I applied aliasing to the shot, but remained once I removed it. Also when i applied 4xHWAA My entire screen gets blacked out. This also crashes the smoke when rendering.
I like to use TIF files because of the embedded alpha that can go along with the file. I'm having a small problem when I'm using them inside of Smoke 2013. I'm creating text files in photoshop, real basic color fill with a drop shadow, my workspace is 16bit RGB, exporting them to TIF from Photoshop and importing them into Smoke. I make sure Create Matte Container is selected and import the file into my library. When I add the file to my CFX comp i'm seeing a black edge around everything. It looks like the fill is not extending all the way to the edges of the matte. Is there something I need to do to make sure that these file comp correctly? Am I exporting them right from Photoshop?
I set mental ray render. When i first time open material/map browser and icons from maps are loading i have this error/warn message. Icons are black circles.
I wanted to make a decal to place on the acrylic window of my PC. I found the perfect picture, which is in black and white. For it to look right though, I need to switch the black to white, and vice versa. Is there a way with Photoshop to automatically switch these, instead of having to manually switch them.
I know that the AJA Kona 3 card has 2 outputs. Can Smoke send one eye to one channel and the other eye to the other of the Kona 3 card? Dual Stream output is what I am really getting at.
Is there any way that Smoke can see/output sub-blacks and super whites? Can't find any way of seeing them on my scope, Smoke just clamps everything. It won't even see anything below zero in order for me to make a correction on it, everything seems to be clamped on import. I'm using ProRes HQ footage.
What is the best plugin to do spline warps in smoke?(need something like the distort in flame) I notice revisionfx don't make a warper for smoke on mac.
I scanned a black and white print in color and am trying to replace all the black with dark green. Been trying for hours in elements 9. This is all so hard. Just to ask this question I have typed it into 3 different screens, set screenname, many other hurdles.
following image shows up fine on WIndows machines, but on Macs it shows up as balck instead of navy, why? I have tried svaing in PDF, JPG, PNG, and PDF nwith Mac color profiles... what is going on? PS, the navy is #0d1125
I am experimenting with Smoke 2013 pre-trial and I am having issues with importing images and video with alpha channels.
1. If I have a layered Photoshop file or png with an alpha channel (a still frame lower third), I see that I can import it as a multi layered clip, but what is the best way to have it in the sequence to show up properly?
2. If I have a QuickTime in animation format or Pro Res4444 format with an embedded alpha, how can I import that file to show and cut it on a top layer to animate above my video?
I have a multilayered psd file. All layers should remain opaque except the black to white gradient layer where I need the white to be transparent. So that when I place the final psd on top of a block of solid colour in Indesign the gradient shows the background colour through where the black fades off.
I'm using PSE8. I was using Filter>Render>Clouds and it was working for me. I must have done something because the clouds that are rendered are black & white not Blue and white. My photo is of course a color image. How I can correct this or what I need to do to get back to the default setting that will render blue & white instead of black and white?
Does Smoke have selection functionality similar to that of Combustion? As an example, you might want to selectively blur part of an image. In Combustion, you would draw a selection and then apply an operator above the selection to achieve this. I don't see a similar selection tool function in Smoke, but I imagine you could achieve the same effect by duplicating a layer and using a Gmask via the Wipe timeline FX.does Smoke not have a selection tool similar to Combustion?
I am struggling against disabling Black Point Compensation when I view an image normally (not with "Proof Colors"). In my understanding, we can turn off BPC with "Color Settings" dialog. But in fact, RGB(0,0,0) image shows the lighter color as device-RGB (I checked it with a color picker application). That means BPC ON.
How to turn off BPC? The following is my environment: OS: Windows 7 Ver.: Photoshop CS6 Conversion Options: ACE, Colorimetric
My goal is viewing an image in Photoshop as same as the other application, usingLUT based ICC profile as monitor profile. I think it needs disabling BPC.
Basically a CAD program I use only exports PNG files. The CAD program can export in black and white and in color. The color PNG files open fine in CorelDraw. The black and white PNG files just show up as a black filled box.
Any registry setting (or some othere way) to disable Autodesk 360. My users have no reason to use this feature and I don't want them wasting time with it.
