View 3 RepliesI have a drawing file with block objects linked to an external MS Access database. Each record in the database was manually linked to a block object using the 'Link Records to Objects' found in Data View under the Links menu. As you know, this allows you to Auto Zoom to an object when you select a record from the Data View table.
The problem I am having now is the Auto Zoom doesn't work when you select a record from the Data View table and I am not sure why. I can perform a spatial query on an object and display the linked record from the Data View table.
How can I link an external database(say access/oracle) to a drawing so that I m able to insert/update attribute directly from the autocad map drawing.

i.e. I have the traffic volume of a road section in a table. I'd like to show that volume on a map beside a circle where the count was taken. I'd like to be able to update the table value and have it also update on ythe map.
I need to export the areas of multiple closed polygons to excel and update that excel as soon as the areas change. We've been using an outside contractor who is able to do this using land f/x.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been creating grading objects from my curb lines, assigning grades using the editor, then offsetting that line for the BACK of curb, and using the raise-lower command to raise the curb line height. If I edit the original face of curb line (gutter grade) then I go back and redo the process. Is there any way to intelligently link these two lines so that if one gets edited C3D knows the other is 0.5 feet higher (or lower) than its neighbor?

Any Extension that Links Smart objects. Much the same way you would link in InDesign or Illustrator?
I used to use one in CS4 'Smart Objects Link Panel',but since upgrading to CC I cannot use this extension.

what is the advantage of doing customization using DataBase services rather than go for wihout DataBase services.?

What is the fastest way to open a drawing and get ObjectData Records?
I have been trying readdwgfile, Add, and Open. Open works but I have a lot of files run through, which seems like it would take about 3 days to open and extract each drawing. maybe if i can run a piece of code outside of AutoCAD 3D map it would be fast but i need to read the ODRecords in each drawing.
When rotating and viewing sectioned parts I keep having a graphical problem, normally I loose the face the part is sectioned through, leaving a view into the hollow shell of the parts. Other times the problems get worse and random sections become visible. This doesn't happen all the time and both of these problems are solved if you click on the part. I have included a pic of a test piece that hopefully illustrates what I am talking about.
I am running Inventor 2011 SP1, on windows 7 with a Nividia Quadro FX 580 with the latest drivers.
If i have a GPS Survey which i can create a surface from and 2D mapping from GIS records, is there any way to turn the 2D mapping into 3D using the surface data?

Also, in the sketch environment, the little green and yellow dots that represent sketch points are huge, and the grid has gone really small.
Have tried changing graphics mode to "Compatibility" and selecting "Software Graphics" - No change.
Whether the number of tabulations (for example in a ruled surface) changes the graphical/visual appearance of the surface or whether it actually affects the accuracy and subsequent quality of the surface when machined. In other words if you machined the object with a surftab1 set to 6 and the same object again but set to 32 would the latter be physically smoother after machining it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe Publish to PDF option in the Sheetset Manager which I believe is using the native/built-in AutoCAD 2012 PDF driver is creating PDF's with incomplete and inconsistent graphical content. See attached PDF examples wherein the PDF "...(CONTENT GOOD)" created via CutePDF Writer contains the desired output...
Note both PDFs were plotted with essentially the same plot settings, driver excepted...
Just installed 3ds Max 2013 and I am having some graphical glitches in the UI.
Attached a picture of the issues.
In PS CS3 you could open as many graphical files as you wanted, move them around on the scrren, edit them, then create a new file and copy those into it creating a composite image.
Now, with CS6, I haven't figured out how to do that yet. If I load an image, it takes up the entire workspace, with rulers going negative to hugely positive with no reason to do so. If I load another image, I can't see them both unless I tile. if there is a way to put ALL files, say 10 of them all on ONE workspace at once? I'm almost ready to go BACK to CS3!
i installed Photoshop cc on a Trail to check if it runs well on my pc, when i opend/or made any image on the main area were you edit the Graphics go mental at places were collor changes... even if you open a new image and use the gradient tool,its not gone be on the final image or anything its just in that window..
so i fought maybe theres something wrong with my AMD ATI HD7950 Graphic's card thats pretty new, but after reinstalling all of the drivers and software for it its still there, just went through the troubleshoot page.. (windows7)
I am using a Diamond VC500 capture device Vid studio 10 came with this. When I attempt to capture from a VHS player, VS 10 will capture for a few seconds then a thumbnail appears. A no capture device message then appears. Then I must rewind the tape and restart. Still a few seconds and ...ad nauseum. I have changed every setting that I can find to see what will work. No joy!
As a side note, I have found VS10 SE to reset some of its video parameters after closing the dialouge box. This is intermittant. video quality will reset to 80% from setting at 100%. Sound will reset to 64kbps after setting at 224. Usually, this occurs after re-opening the video and audio capture dialogue to change a parameter after first setting it. what sometimes works is to make all settings in one session then do not open the dialouge again.
I opened a 16 bit image. When using the crop tool in default mode (NOT classic) when the entire canvas is visible (so not zoomed in), I switched to the crop tool, click on the canvas to get the crop rectangle, then zoomed in more and more. At some point the image goes black, with bits of image showing through, and further zooming reveals a bunch of noisy colorful pixels.
This does not happen in 8 bit mode.
I've not yet had this happen ever on any non-retina computer.
It does not happen when you start already zoomed in somewhat.
It does not happen when the crop tool is set to Classic mode.
It does not happen in Windowed mode, only in Full Screen With Menu Bar mode (so press F once).
I can reproduce it.
I am putting together a form for a soccer team, where I have a number of players with their info put into a nice table for scouting college coaches to have at their fingertips. It would be nice to automate this, but I don't see how to merge say 8 players' info onto one page. Any thoughts?
View 5 Replies View RelatedUsing LR 4.1, I have uploaded a custom logo as my identity plate. When constructing a web gallery in the web module, I am unable to center the logo in the galleries I create - it always aligns left and looks terrible.

I'm a long time LR user (currently LR 4.2), but just recently started producing a series of limited edition prints that include a graphical identity plate centered below the image. As LR insists on having to scale the identity plate, the result is that I can never produce a print where the text appears crisp and sharp. Rather there's always some perceptible softness in the text.
I'm using PhotoShop to produce the graphical identity plate and have produced it in the exact dimensions as it should appear beneath the print. When I bring it into the LR print module, however, it immediately scales it to 100% of the page size so I'm left with no option but to select a scaling % that most closely represents the original size.
Is there a solution to this? I only recently purchased PS CS6 and am thinking I should probably be doing this within that application, but honestly I'm just more comfortable in LR. For this print, I have the page size set to 20" x 30" and the cell size containing the image at 16" x 24". I think I know the correct process to duplicate this within Photoshop, but verify the procedure if LR isn't up to the task.
I am trying to create an action that will work with some product images. Every image document I make is the same size (1000 x 1000px). The layer that I paste onto that document will always vary in size. I like my product images to all have the exact same margin. So I always use the transform command to specify that the width of any layer should be exactly 930px. This gives me exactly the same margin on my 1000 x 1000px document every time, regardless of the original layer size. I want to create an action for this to speed up the process but when I press record I hit a stumbling block.
In reality, I choose transform and set width to 930px.
Photoshop records me choosing transform then setting the width to 97% (or whatever).Percentages are useless to me as my original layers vary radically in size. I need to transform by pixels.why photoshop is recording my transform by percentage and not the pixels that I actually use?
When I do a data merge and select multi records it shift them way off the page. The only time it does the multi page correctly is when I use the default page size (8.5x11). This happens whether I preview it or export it with out the preview. Is there a patch coming out for this or asome setting I am missing? My CS5 did not have this issue.

Had an idea for a logo, take this Soviet badge: Keep the gold around the bottom and sides, have 'The Red Faction' along the bottom, retain the Red star and replace the hammer & sickle with a gold Liverbird. I would need this as a PNG graphical/logo image not simply using the current JPEG and editing it if that makes sense?
I have two questions about data merging....
1) I am going to consistently need to merge into a document that I will also set up with mulitple records with the same margins, spacing, etc. Is there a way to 'save' templates so I don't have to start over each time I create a multiple record layout??
2) If I want to merge in a single document, but have the same column 'name' laid out various time, do I keep inserting 'name' from the data source? How will it know to proceed to the next one on the list and not repeat the same one over and over?
What are all the block table records?
I've got Model Space & Paper Space(Or Layout Space) under control.
I've got two block reference instances of the same block on a drawing.
If I purge the Drawing the older duplicate block reference disappears.
7867 is the older reference that disappears when I use the purge command.
78A7 is the newer reference, I only want to see this one on my extraction of attributes.
What property of the block reference will tell me that it would be purged if I used the purge command?
As I want to detect what's the old block and which one is the current block reference.
The problem is I only want to extract the attributes from the newer block reference.
The old block reference is coming up... how can I filter that out of my loop results?
I know I could just purge the drawing and my problem would be done with.But I need to do this in a manner that only accesses the drawing from a read-only manner.
