I have found a few things on here, but not exactly what I want. We have a excel spreadsheet with borehole references and coordinates. I need to be able to insert a block according to these coordinates and the borehole reference as the attribute.
View 5 RepliesI have stored a few blocks in our library in 2D. They contain attributes such as detail numbers, elevation/sheet numbers, and side attributes for keynotes. But whenever I drag the blocks in now, instead of prompting for the information to be filled out for the attributes it only asks for insertion point and scale and that's it. it inserts the block but no text shows up, not even a default text. There has to be a setting to turn off or on.

To elaborate, I'm trying to create a borehole dynamic block that I can enter the ground level and end of borehole level as attributes, and have them show up in a multi-leader. The reason for the multi-leader is that I can add a background mask to it and it automatically adjusts the length of the outline obox around it.
I just want to insert the borehole block from a tool palette, enter a couple of attributes, stretch the bottom down to whatever level, and I'm done.
I've been playing with it all weekend trying to get fields to show the attributes and I can get it to work if I use another block for the levels (multi-leaders), but even then I have to into the fields an mess with them. It's go to be east so my CAD guys can do it without slowing down, otherwise they may as well carry writing everything out long-hand as they do now.
I'm using Civil 3D 2012, if that matters.
why I can't export the "Distance 1" attribute out of thsi drawing using the ATTOUT command. I need to build a series of constrained drawings using Dynamic blocks so I can send info from an Excel spreadsheet back and forth bewteen a drawing. I think I'll have to buy a 3rd party utility for that but for now, how to simply get the info out of ACAD and into Excel thsat would be a great start.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to create a dynamic block with multiple visibility states. Each of these states will have it's own attribute for users to enter in information. Is there a way to have the attribute automatically prompt for entering information upon changing the visibility state? That is without hashing too much into the API and code?
Then maybe even go a step further and clear out existing attribute information if the visibility is changed?
But I was wondering if it is possible to contol the insertion of dynamic blocks and it user definerable parameters from a excel-text file.
I am surveying a section of pipework and I need to display the brackets that are supporting the pipes. As there are numerous pipes on top of each other I have decided to show the brackets in plan and isometric view.
I think I have made the dynamic block ok and have numerous stretch/move and scale parameters working correctly.
But the only way that I can see of chaging these parameters at the momment is by manually typing them in the properties tool pallete for each individual block.
So I was thinking that if I can store the correct values that I need for each parameter in the dynamic block on our data logger along with the correct E,N,Z insertion point is it possible for this file to change the parameters in the dynamic block for example, If I have the correct insertion point stored and then have 10 parameters stored with that point for simplicity I store as A=5.00,B=8.00,C=0.100 etc and these correspond with the parameters in the dynamic block will this file be able to alter the dynamic block as the values in the excel/Text file are displayed.
I've got hundreds of files to convert.
In VBA, how can I batch convert field attributes in blocks to text attributes while retaining the blocks? Is there a simple way to univerally convert them all at onceusing VBA? The plotted values for the fields must be retained, too.
Explode will not retain the value of the field.
Burst will not work as it explodes the blocks as well.
You can right-click on the field and slelct "Convert to text" from the RCM. So I know that the process exists within CAD, just need to batch the process for a quantity of DWGs at a time - in VBA.
I wanna transfer my attribute block values to another attribute text blocks , is there any lisp for that?
Is there a possibility for sum tag values of choice attribute blocks to inside of another attribute text block ?
I have the same block repeated multiple times in a drawing, and I want to delete the last attribute in all of the specific blocks. When I edit the block in block editor, the attributes do not show up. After I explode the block, there is no text. The attached image shows the properties of the block.

I've spent the last 4 hours searching for an answer to this question, but I simply can't find one.
As a start I think you have to know that I'm currently using AutoCAD 2012.
Here's the problem: I need to extract some info from an AutoCAD table to a reference file that can be opened in Microsoft Excel. Everything I find on the subject is actually an answer to the question "How does <DATAEXTRACTION> work?" or "How to do an extraction of DATA in AutoCAD?"....
In this particular case I have a set of production drawings (cut tickets) for manufacturing of stone. And in every single sheet I have this material schedule or a table, if you wish, that is made with an AutoCAD table. In this schedule I have the height, width and thickness of the stone plate and with a function it measures it's area and volume. What I want to do is to extract those values into a reference file that I can open with Microsoft Excel, as I already said.
How exactly?
I am currently working on a project where I am taking a lot of Autocad Attributes and Exporting them to an excel file so they can be referenced in a table of contents type of manner. My question is if there is a way to have excel automatically update the tables after changes are made to the autocad file. This file is an ever changing thing so going back and running through the entire "Eattext" command and re exporting and overwriting the existing file is very tiresome, especially when I am adding and deleting attributes daily. Is there a VBA program I can run to accomplish this task, I have fairly limited VBA skills and haven't written in VBA for years. I am fairly new to exporting autocad attributes to excel . I attached a very simplistic example of the general Idea of what I am trying to accomplish.

Every time I copy and paste as a linked AutoCad entity the text does not come across as the correct text style - for example if I want the table text to come out as ISOCP it comes across in a bolder text, requiring me to enter in the cell and select ISOCP I don't have to highlight the text in the cell i only have to enter inside the cell.

Say, There is a drainage system with 2 manhole and 1 pipe,
the Manhole have 3 attribute : Name, Model, Level, (and the X-Y coordination),
I Create a Block with attribute "Name ; Model ; Level".
and then I insert the Blocks and place it in correct location inside the Layout Plan.
How can I create some script to "Scan" all Block inside the drawing and make an excel file with data like:
Block-Serial, X-Coor, Y-Coor, Rotated Angle, Name, Model, Level.

I have tried several methods to go straight from Inventor(2012) to Excel(2010) using print PDF at press quality, export JPEG, and even the snipping tool as a last ditch effort all of which inevitably loose all line quality when inserted to Excel.
I have only had success bringing a PDF from Inventor into Adobe InDesign where I am able to mimic the design of my Excel spreadsheet and create an additional PDF to include with the Excel document. It seems like there would be an easier way for Inventor and Excel to work together without sacrificing quality or adding additional steps.
I`m trying to insert an excel spread sheet in to inventor drawing, for some reason inventor cuts off 2 last rows. Is there a limit of how many rows can be inserted ?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a batch of 5000 pictures (jpg). I need to add the information that I have in an .xls file (Excel), from a column with the description of each picture. Each description is different from the others, so I would have to assign the code number of the file jpg (first colum of the excel) to the correspondance info that exists in the column of the description/caption into the IPTC field.
I have tried several ways, applications that I have found through Google, but I have no way to do it. It seems that the origin of the problem is the xls file or the txt file that I have had to created to try to do the importation. In any case messages of errors like "the file does not exists", etc etc. I don`t know what to do it. It's very important and urgent for my job.

* I have tried applications like: DIY Metadata, VRA Export-Import Metadata and another ones... which names I don't remember now.
I have an excel file with thousands of rows, each with a column for the x-coordinate, the y-coordiante, the height, and width of a rectangle. I need a script that will ask me to select the excel file, read the excel file, and create rectangles from each of the thousands of rows. I'm working in a windows environment and have Illustrator CS4. Any scripts out there that might give me a start?
