1) I have a solid with vertical walls. I need a solid, were some walls ar not vertical. So I need to move some vertices to the offset of top edge. Please, check a pic.
(yellow edges have to be were are the red ones).I did it with construction lines, but I'm sure there is a more efficient way (with a command like offset).

2) Can I offset just a part of the solid at all?
I am trying to model the following simple structure:
I made this example by creating a new polygonal cylinder, rotating the top edges that are to the right of the x-axis and repositioning the affected vertices afterwards, but doing it that way just doesnt feel right, it seems too unclean to me.
I would like the affected vertices to only move on a given axis when rotating the edges, so I dont need to reposition them after the rotate operation. I tried to illustrate what I mean in the following screenshot:
The edges I want to rotate are marked in red, the vertices that are supposed to only move on the y-axis are marked in green. The arrows indicate the desired movement.
Is this way of rotating an edge possible with the rotate tool or something?
I have a part which I am using the Split tool to make two solid parts. All was fine until a few days later when I went back and made some changes to the surface I was using for the Split. Now, Inventor has flipped the two solid bodies, so later features I had placed now don't work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have borehole data of a site, where I want to sort of extrapolate the borehole data to the whole site, so that I can have a 3D soil model of the whole site. I have attached my DWG file, the vertical lines represent the borehole data and different colors represent different types of soil.
I'm thinking of manually extrapolating the data to the edges of the site, then split the site area into few different parts, and then create solids for each part, where each point is a vertices of a solid. But how to create a solid from 8 vertices, which would naturally form a closed solid like a box.
Besides this, are there any other methods of achieving what i want (3D soil model from borehole data)?
how I can Identify invalid solids without having to select each solid individually.I would think that a lisp routine would be the way to go, but I cannot find what makes a solid invalid as opposed to being valid.

We have several chain guards which we punch from sheet metal. We recently changed our practice to punch a hole pattern in the part rather than weld in a mesh screen - saves shop assembly/fab time. See the attached 2 parts.
My question: Is there an automated way of delelecting all holes within X" of the part edge. Currently we have to go through one by one and it takes a lot of time. how to model this part more efficiently. As you can see, the designer of the new part got lazy and did a rectangular pattern. The goal would be to have a consistent margin around the full perimeter of the part more like the first.
I'm on page 89 of online tutorial of making the character helmet, and when I try to select and move the pair of vertices at the base of the helmet, they become bright yellow, and all surrounding vertices become a gradually darkening shade of orange. What happens is, it moves all of the vertices around the ones I selected. In the image on the tutorial, only the selected vertices move. What should I do?

When I go to crop or move an image close to the edge of the canvas it jumps to the edge. I am having trouble especially with cropping the space between the image and the edge of the canvas the way I want it. turning off this jumping to edge problem I'm having?
Also, I've used CS4 a fair bit and haven't come across this same problem but in PE when I'm editing things like adjusting text on a layer and I'm changing options with hotkeys to resize the text box for eg, Elements seems to jump to the background layer quite alot and then I have to click back on the layer I want to edit between changing tools. Is it something to do with the Esc key?
I want to move a drop shadow to the left rather than the right. In Illustrator CS 5 I would enter a negative value in the offset boxes. In Illustrator CS6 and CC, the app won't let me put in a negative number. Is this an error or is there a new way to move the offset?

I was told by the reseller that "I have to convert the files into Parasolid or IGES or Sat formats and then the same canbe opened in Inventor Fusion." This is rediculous as the Inventor Fusion claims that " You can open files from any CAD system directly". This is clearly misguiding. know the correct procedure for data transfer?

I've tried using the function in Autocad but it just wont work.
I have made an animation that after it completes, it displays an iFrame which has some input fields. The input fields behave great on a laptop pc or mac but when I use an Apple iPad, the cursor positions are way off outside of the input fields as I type.
Here is the website page: URL...Here I have the same iframe, one inside of edge and the other outside of edge. Both work fine on a pc or mac but if you try to use an Ipad, you will see that the edge one shows the input field cursor down and outside of the input field.

Whenever i move my cursor over a 3D solid, outlines of the solid stay dashed.I tried changing the visual effect settings but it doesn't work.
it doesn't only do this in every view (top,side,front) but also when i'm panning around and hover my mouse over any solid. Using the regen command resets the solids so that they don't have the dashed outlines anymore.
whenever i'm panning around and i have conceptual view on, i have to switch from conceptual -> wireframe -> conceptual if i want the solids to look normal again.
I have drawn this part and can't find a way to... not even sure how to describe it.I need to replace the yellow edge by the green one.

I created two expressions: IF(OFFSET-TRUNC(OFFSET)=0,.1/12,.00000001/12)
and this one: IF(OFFSET-TRUNC(OFFSET)!=0,.1/12,.00000001/12)
I then created two offset components, one called truncated, and one called full, and assigned the heights to match the expressions.

I used to work in Photoshop and GIMP, but then became sidetracked. I've forgotten half of it. I used to make siggies for others all the time, although I really was guessing my way through some of it. I knew I could do better.
Anyway, I figured it'd be wise to start with a really basic question. I'll use the pic below as an example.
In a pic such as this one, how would you go about seamlessly blending the edge of the picture with the background? (All I did so far was have 2 separate layers; the picture of the hottie, and then behind it of course was just the template where I tried to match the pink from the hotty pic).
I'm also curious about just blending 2 or more photographs together to create a collage. I've done this before, but I know I made it harder and more tedious than it had to be. So.... would a collage have to be done a little differently.
I used to go about all this various ways way back when, but like I said... I've forgotten half my little tricks which I know really weren't the correct and easiest route to go about it.

Ex. Click Button A and a square will move 10 px left. Click Button B and the same square will move 10 px right. Click Button B three times and the box will move 30 px right.. etc..

I need a pit configuration, and I use the offset command to offset a base polyline to first 10 m and then 3 and so on.. is there a way to do this in an automatically way, that you can choose the lenght of the offset for each "offset" (i.e. 1st 10 m, 2nd 3, 3rd 10 m, 4th 3 m, and so on. I am actually using civil 3D.

I have a symbol which is essentially 10 images or so side by side, and buttons below that are directional arrows left and right. I want to have it set up where when you hover over one of those buttons, it moves the photo slideshow left and right. I havent been able to find the correct code and it is currently inoperable.
Right now, I have this in the BtnRight symbol, which is the arrow to move the slideshow to the right.
