AutoCad :: Ellipses In DXF

Jan 24, 2012

I am trying to write a *simple* DXF export procedure in a Delphi program.

I can generate PolyLines, Text and Circles OK but am having real problems with Ellipses. No matter what I put for the posn & axis, I just get a tiny circle drawn at 0,0. Oddly one DXF viewer (online) does show the ellipse correctly but 3 others do not.

Because this is a very simple application, I have not bothered with a Header (or Block & Table) section but from what I have read that should not be a problem.

I have attached the test DXF I have created.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Export Of Ellipses

Sep 23, 2011

I often use Inventor to generate 2D views of things for AutoCAD.  Once I get the view into AutoCAD, I want to copy the outline, make a polyline of it, decurve it and make a wipe out of that.

This is all well and good until Inventor exports an ellipse in the drawing.  They can't be converted to a polyline.  So, is there some way to force Inventor to export them as some other entity type or is there a way to convert them in AutoCAD that I'm not aware of?  The only two things I've tried are flatten and explode and neither of them works.

AutoCad :: Break A Line But For Circles And Ellipses

Aug 15, 2011

I would like to ask a question on “Break at point”.

It is possible to break a line but for circles and ellipses, my attempts resulted in no break at all (see attached picture).

Does “Break at point” support circles and ellipses? If you have a circle and you would like to make it a ¾ circle arc, or any arbitrary angle, how do you do that?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Automated Way To Convert Ellipses Into Circles?

Jul 2, 2013

I have a large amount of "ellipses" in a Civil 3D 2013 drawing that were created as "circles" in Cyclone 8.03 (the laser scanning software from Leica-Geosystems). I need to work with circles so I can label the diameter of each in my drawing. Is there a way to automatically convert these ellipses, that have the same exact minor and major axis, into circles? Other wise I will have to reapeat the work in Civil 3D using the same point cloud!

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 :: Ellipses / Circles / Pies And Arcs Not Rotating About Center

Nov 16, 2012

I have two adjacent circles.  I created two tangent lines between them on opposite sides.  I want to connect the lines to the circles.  So - I make the circle into a pie, and with the node editing tool, drag the nodes around until I see the little info text go from edge to "node" where it snaps on the nope of the line.

Before I start this, the lines are perfectly tangent.  When complete, the lines are no longer tangent and the circle is shifted upwards, and is moved off the perfect tangent by different amount for each line.  I can see a difference at 3200% and 11000% zoom at 0.5 point lines.

This occurs if I rotate the circle, or make the circle into an arc also.

It seems that when the circle is drawn, the center point about which its rotated, and from where the arcs/pies are drawn is not exactly center.  This is happening when I manually rotate it.  It I rotate it giving it a specific degree in the properties bar across the top, it rotates fine.  For instance, repeating this again, the arcs of the circle is below one line, and above the other live by a lesser degree.

Illustrator :: Easiest Way To Create Different Edges For Ellipses (tire Edges)

Jun 18, 2013

I thought this was going to be a piece of cake in the new Illustrator CC but I am having a few unanticipated issues:)I need to create some vector tire images with different edges, such as the top one in the image below. So I thought this would be SO easy by simply creating a pattern brush in Illustrator and then using that for the outside. So I created the shape you see in the middle image below and created a pattern brush with this shape.I then created an ellipse and used the new brush for the outline.

All of those are open paths...it has taken the shape and applied it to the outline but has kept each shape separate, so I am not able to fill the circle in black. I could of course go in and manually join each little corner separately where the little shapes meet but this will take FOREVER with all the images I have to do.

AutoCAD VB :: Plot To PDF

Dec 20, 2012

I have created a batch routine that plots PDF’s of a list of drawings.  Everything is working ok. It opens the drawing, turns on and off layers, and then plots to PDF.  The plots come out fine, but after each plot, it opens the PDF.  This would not be a problem for one or two drawings, but when doing a few hundred, it becomes quite frustrating.

I can see how to change this using the plot dialogue box, selecting DWG To PDF.pc3 and editing the custom properties. But no matter how many times I change it does not save, and will open the PDF.

I have found a work around by killing the process Acrobat.exe at the end of the plot.  But is there a better way of doing this?

AutoCAD Inventor :: DWG To STP

Jan 7, 2013

we modeled prototypes of trains (locomotives) in 3dsMax, these models will be used to produce molds and thumbnails of these, you must give the producer STP files, max does not export these files, and we have exported in various formats supported by some programs if exported STP, eg Inventor, we have exported files are STL, oBJ and DWG, so far so good, all save the parts or layers without problem.

The problem comes when exporting from Inventor to STP, nothing happens, the STP file is as if you were empty, there is nothing ..

I have attached the DWG file, if possible, have 17 CAD models for export to STP.

AutoCAD .NET :: Cannot Set MdiActiveDocument

Aug 22, 2013

I cannot seem to set the MdiActiveDocument synchronously.

I have code inside a <CommandMethod> that creates a drawing and then writes any error information to the command line.  Since this is started in one document, if  a fatal error occurs and the drawing does not get created, that message goes to the original document's command line.

In the case where a drawing gets created with errors (say partial success), I would like the errors to appear in the new drawing (new active document's) command line.

The behavior when setting Core.Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument is peculiar.  The application can hang for a long time if you do not click anything.  If you click the document (from the taskbar or clicking on the window), it breaks out of the hang and continues to execute, but the active document is not changed.  The MdiActiveDocument still points to the original document.  You can also see that it does not change because doc.IsActive = False.  This state could be because when you clicked, you really did make the original document active (again? still?).  To break the hang, I think the click has to be on the original document.

On an example like [URL] ... there is no action taken after MdiActiveDocument is set, so I assume that it is actually set when the command is completed, not synchronously.  I am not absolutely certain of this, though.

 <CommandMethod("AUTODRAWPN")> _
 Public Sub DrawPartNumber()
Dim ed As Editor = Core.Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument.Editor
If IsNothing(drwr) Then

[Code] .......

Is there a way to set the MDIActiveDocument?  Should it be hanging like this?  Should I be looking at an altogether different way to handle this?

Trying to use doc.Editor without setting the active causes a eNotApplicable error, so that is not a way out.

I am using AutoCAD 2013.  The following link implies that this could be a 2013 specific problem, but I do not know that for sure. [URL] .....
