AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Linking File Names Into Title Block But Only Using Some Of The Name?
Aug 18, 2011
We are using a title block and it has an attribute field that links to the file name. Now one of our projects is adding the revision to the CAD file name, but it messes up our drawing sheets.
i.e. It was fine when the CAD file name was 111-A222-ZZ-X-123456.dwg and this would display the complete 111-A222-ZZ-X-123456 in the drawing title.
Now we need to do this, the CAD file name, 111-A222-ZZ-X-123456-001002-A1.dwg and we still need to just show 111-A222-ZZ-X-123456 in the title block, striping away the 001002-A1.
I can't find my notes on how I fixed it. When we insert our title block, it automatically inserts the drawing number. For one user, it doesn't work. The title block inserts, but it won't put in the drawing number. I seem to remember I need to change a setting or something to get it to work, but I can't remember what it is.
1. I want to all selected profiles or blocks set to one object, than continue to select second object,(see attached drawing file). How to write the "ssget" lisp.
2. Command "line" ask me specify next point.
3. Found object boundary prompt me to "select oblect", when i selected profile, with the error: bad argument type: consp.
I have a specific problem with renaming layouts. I found some similar lisps, but I just could not make them work.
In every layout I have following attributes.
PROJECT: 306 PHASE: RD OBJECT: A0101 PART: EL DRAWING: 611 ZOOM: X REVISION: 01
I need to rename every each of layout using those attributes. Layout's name should look like that: "306_rd_A0101_el_611_x_01" . "rd", "el" and "x" must be written using lowercase.
I have a attributed titleblock. Sometime in the future I will need to change the date attribute to another value, i.e.. 7-11 to 9-11.
I can't place a text string in the title block because this title block is used for multiple drawings and the date will be different for different sets. I can't have numerous title blocks because of the client's requirements.
Question:
Is there a way to write a script to open a drawing, look for the specific attribute, change the date value, save and close the drawing - across multiple sheets? Would a lisp routine called by the script be able to do this? Or a script file called by the original script file? CAn you even use a script file in this manner?
I am working on a large project where a 3rd Party firm has turned over 100s of drawings that we need to get into our system. The problem is that they did not name their physical files properly. We have a particular numbering system for our drawings, the engineering firm did fill in our attributed title block properly and used our numbering system correctly within the drawing. However, their physical file name follows their format. We need to have the physical file name match the information in the title block to get into our system.
Is there a way to "Batch Rename" these files by reaching into the title block and then renaming the physical file to match the attribute?
I have to be honest, I may use AutoCAD 50 to 60 hours per week, but I am no programmer! I am just the go-to person here for AutoCAD whom is stuck trying to come up with a efficient solution for the project team whose engineering firm could not follow our procedures! I was hoping some sort of batch routine could take care of this problem for us instead of us having to individually rename each physical file one by one.
How to export title block attribute text .. in a order from different layout .? file ext .xls or .txt i got a tool named Autocad Automation tool but it not work very well autocad have data extraction - its also came all text .. and not in order .. can we develop the any lisp for that ?.
I need a routine that will duplicate the current sheet's Layout tab and content to the next tab, set it current, delete the titleblock (by name) on the new tab and reference in a differently named titleblock, 1:1, 0,0 onto the new Layout tab. I'll be running this in a batch script.
I have a parent directory with x-amount of folders contained inside. I say X-amount because I would like to keep adding or deleting folders as time progresses. I want the folders contained within this parent directory do be read into a lisp variable and then be printed to the command prompt till every folder is displayed by name, then the loop may stop.
I have a text file with a list of image tile names with their bottom left hand easting and northing see attached. I have a lisp that asks for the name of the image then should insert the image at its coordinate with a predefined scale and rotation but it isn't working so I would like an alternative method to test.
Create a routine that looks for a block based on a portion of that block name, using a specified path or search path.
For example, block to search for is BLOCKABC123, so if someone inputs ABC or 123 as a block name, it will locate that block within that folder and inserts it into the drawing at a user specified location.
Ideally, if there is a check in that if it finds more than one match, then perhaps it flags or prompts you to choose 1, 2, or 3 option which block to use. But I can live without this special function if it requires too much time to code.
I want to insert a stored block into a drawing (model space). Below is the code I'm using and I get Runtime Error '5': Invalid procedure call or argument.
Sub Dummy() Dim COESTD_obj As AcadBlockReference, InsPtStd(0 To 2) As Long, COESTD As String COESTD = "C:JimHYDROCAD_DwgsBlocksZ_COE_STDS.dwg" InsPtStd(0) = 0#: InsPtStd(1) = 0#: InsPtStd(2) = 0# 'Set insertion point as 0,0,0 Set COESTD_obj = ThisDrawing.ModelSpace.InsertBlock(InsPtStd, COESTD, 1#, 1#, 1#, 0#) End Sub
I am trying to make a script for inserting a standard title block in some drawings. ( which needs to be often done for different projects). The title block is kept in the network path. How can i specify the path in the script file in order to insert the block.
-Insert,> Block name > (I need to specify the drawing in the network to get the block in it)
How to write some code which could create variable names like var1, var2, var3, etc. I need to do this because I have a large number to create and the actual number is variable and unknown.
Instead of manually writing a large number of line like
(setq var1 value1) (setq var2 value2) etc
I used to be able to put 1 line in a loop to create and assign a large number of variables. I remember that it involved the use of the set (not setq) and read functions.
What I was thinking of was in a loop some times I need multiple sets of similar variables but am not sure how many sets I am going to need. I would like to be able to increment the variable names each time the loop runs.
I need to change the value of some tags in a title block on multiple drawings. I tried using Lee Macs attribute changer [URL]. It works fine but not when tags have the same name.
I then looked at this code - [URL]
Idea was to change the tag names then use Lee Macs program. It too fails when there are duplicate tag names. It changes all tags not just the one I want.
In the the title block I have 3 tags with the name "NAME" but only one will have the value I'm looking to change. If I could place an IF statement some where in the above codes (or another code altogether) to instruct that IF the tag name is "NAME" with value "Dennis (BSL)" then change either the tag name or the value to "Daniel"
Im pretty bad at this programming stuff but with so many drawings I need a easier, automated way of doing this.
I have 2000+ drawings that have either the layer state "LMAN_DWF" or "DWF". I want all of them to read "DWF" for scripting purposes. LSIP routine that will go into a drawing and change rename a layerstate if it is named incorreclty, but do nothing if it is named correctly?
Does Layer State "DWF" exist?
If Yes, skip file and move on to next file
If No, does Layer State "LMAN_DWF" exist?
if Yes Rename Layer State to "DWF"
If No, skip file and move to next file.
Or a LSIP routine that can simply dump a list of all drawings in a directory that contain "LMAN_DWF" as a layer state. I could then use that list to do a simple script to change the layer state names on those specific files.
I have a programming background but have never used AutoCad nor AutoLISP. I'm walking into a situation where we had a resident AutoLISP expert that has written a routine to output Autocad to PDF using the built-in PDF. I'm told the autolisp goes through a bunch of logic to create folder path, file, etc of the output PDF. I don't have access to the code.
What we need is for that routine to also set the metadata on the output PDF (Title, Author, Subject, Keywords), At the minimum we need to set the PDF Properties Title = to filename and it needs to be done at the time it is generated from Autocad to PDF.
I get an AutoCAD drawing from my conveyor manufacturer who have buried a block (tagname) in all of their conveyor blocks.
The only way to remove them is to manually use BEDIT and erase the tagname block.
Is there a way through Autolisp to search all blocks in a drawings and if the tagname block is part of the definition of the conveyor block, erase the tagname block or redefine the conveyor block without the tagname block.
When dynamic blocks are inserted they're assigned an anonymous block name. I'd like to be able to retrieve the name of the parent block after selecting the block on screen using AutoLisp.
I need to match few attribute values from one block to different block. I download a lisp file called; ca.lsp which can match the single attribute value. I modified it for more than one attribute value matching. It is ok but still wish to overcome two issues for batch prcess
1. picking up the blocks by selection
2. click the alternative block numbers of times to match the numbers of attribute values I needed.
How to modify this lisp I can run it by block name selections instead of picking selection which enable me to run batch process for numbers of drawing? That will be good...
Lisp & Demo file attached (Match attribute value, A, B & C to Attribute 1, 2 & 3).
I am learning autolips and i found a problem that i can´t solved.
(vl-load-com)(defun c:pmb ( / ss ent pt )(prompt " selec block : ")(setq ss (ssget '((0 . "INSERT")))) (setq ent (ssname ss 0)), (setq pt (cdr (assoc 10 (entget ent)))) (command "point" pt)) wich this code you select one block and insert one point at insert point´s block.
which this other code yo select all block and insert all point.... but in one block
I have a block that i want to insert several times and revised each one to be different to do this i would have to insert it and rename the blocks that come in and then reinsert i would like to insert and have a lisp explode the main block and rename the other 2 blocks with a suffix at the end depending on how many times its in the drawing... can this even be done? My original block name that will be first inserted is "BENT PULLEY NOTES" it needs to explode after i drop it in and then there are 2 blocks within that called "Bent Pulley" and "Bent Pulley DYN" that i was hoping to keep the names but add a number at the end depending on how many are in the drawing already...
here is a lisp that i have found... it would work if i didn't have nested blocks and only wanted the one block to be insert and not explode...
(defun c:Test (/ e i name Bname ) (setq e nil) (command "_.-insert" "Drawing1.dwg" pause "" "" "") (if (setq e (entlast))
I have a dwg with 40 blocks that have a non-annotative property. I can go through 1 by 1 and change the property to annotative and redefine the block. Is it possible to automate this? I have done some google searches but have not found anything I am able to cut and paste or put together to get it to work.

I have created a new title block for my company and i have a revision table on it. I use the tabs to go from different paper spaces and i would like to find a solution to where if i enter information on my first page it will automatically copy exactly what i put to the other tables on the other tabs.
I have a routine that counts dynamic blocks by visibility state and stores that information then prompts for scale and color and stores that information. Then a legend begins to build from the data and a collection of blocks to reflect the dynamic blocks and their visibility state. Everything works great on all of the machines around the office except on one. When the legend begins building, the one user is getting the DDATTE dialog instead of allowing the values to populate as expected. So, I had him change ATTREQ to 0 an run again. No deal, the same thing happens again and again. And; it only occurs on the one machine.
