I've written my first little Lisp function.What it's for is drawing a simple borehole profile that can then be used to draw stylized cross sections on top of it.
Upon start the lisp, pick a point on screen (to get the X coordinate [x1 below]), then enter ground level at the command line [g1 below], then enter as many thicknesses as are present in the borehole log (will vary, but typically between 3-12). These I added to a list, because that seemed to make sense when I did it.
What I want it to do then is draw a pline from x1, g1 down to the next point (x1,g1 minus the 1st thickness), then the next (x1,g1 minus the 2nd thickness) etc., to the bottom of the borehole.
Then my CAD guys can sit there, and using the borehole logs, enter the values of the boreholes and it draws them on the screen, making it easy to join th dots.
It might be good if it placed a Acad point at each point as well, but I'm not overly bothered about that at the minute.

The problem is if you miss the trim point (PT2) it does not erase the circle and you lose your object snaps.

How we can force the program to break the line without the user having to select the line (because they will have already selected the insertpoint, and using osnap nearest would find the line that requires breaking)

I wrote (setq oldtext (getvar "textstyle")) to save the current text style,
(setvar "textstyle" (getvar "dimtxsty")) to change the text style to the current dimension text style (which appens to be romans) and later (setvar "textstyle" oldtext) to restore the text style to its original setting but it won't work.
This is the same format used to save and restore osnap in many lisp routines.
When I check the program in the visual lisp editor, oldtext returns "standard" (the original text style - so that part works) but "textstyle" returns nil. I even tried (setvar "textstyle" "standard") to no avail. "Textstyle" remains romans.
have had the good fortune to have recieved a Christmas present (o.k. to myself) a new Dell 30" monitor with 2560 x 1600 resolution.
The only thing I am finding troublesome as you might be able to see by the attached screen shot, is that now my autocad menus are, as expected at the top of the screen. This new size of monitor brings with it the problem that you now have to travel your mouse a great distance to reach the menu bar items.
I am looking for a way to force all DWG files created with previous versions of AutoCAD to automatically open "Read Only". For example, using Civil 3D 2011, I open a file that is a 2007 format DWG. I want this file to automatically open read only, and inform the user that it has opened read only.
I'm hoping that this is possible, since opening a 2007 format DWG in a newer AutoCAD already tells you that it's an older format in the command line, and files can already be opened as read only.
I am using Autocad 2013, and need to have lisp wblock to a 2010 format file. Is there a way I can force it to, without the trouble of opening the file dialog box and setting the format there?
