AutoCAD Inventor :: IPart Creation In Sheet Metal And Placing In Assembly?
Nov 28, 2012I have created the Sheet Metal part wtih negative flange value. Ipart is creating the parts. but unable to use in assembly

View 1 RepliesI have many I-parts that have many members. All these members differ in size, sheet metal style and material.
That's a nice case for an I-part right? We can manage the members in a table, and we can create flat patterns & drawings that go with these members, so when we get an order for a machine, we don't have to touch any of these components.
The things is, that I want to show the length & width of the flat pattern, the sheet metal style, and the K-factor of the I-parts members in the parts lists of the assemblies they sit in.
I have 4 custom properties for this. Flat_Pattern_Length; Flat_Pattern_Width; Sheet_Metal_Style; Sheet_Metal_k_Factor
These properties show up on the parts lists. I use Inventor 2012 (with Solidworks Enterprise PDM)
I have tried to make a rule in the factory that fills these properties. I fire the rule on "save document". My train of thought: Every time Inventor saves a member, it applies the factory rule, and fills the member properties.
Results are extremely unstable. I have seen all members generated with correct properties, I have also seen that literally nothing happens on the members. There are some brute force workarounds (edit member scope, run rule) but this is not a sustainable solution.
I cannot imagine it would be so hard to get the sheet metal information available as properties for these files! The use of I-parts is a fixed constraint, and the use of those property names is an almost fixed constraint.
When placing a puch table in a flat pattern drawing, can the origin point be placed anywhere or does it have to correspond to the origin point of the Inventor drawing (0,0,0)?I placed the origin point at some point which I randomly chose but no table popped up for me to chose the puch table option.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am creating a program to write out all the flat patterns of all sheet metal parts in an assy. I save it out as dxf. What I need is to totals of all the sheet metal parts across all sub assy’s etc in other words not “Structured” but “Parts Only” in Inventor BOM terms. All works fine but the only problem is that when a sub assy is a weldment or “inseparable”, it hides the parts inside it and “Parts only” BOM don’t make the internal parts of that sub available and the totals are not correct then. I need the totals because the idea is to write that into the file name including the thickness of the part.

I am relatively new to iLogic aand have been trying to figure this out on my own for a couple of days now.

I want to create a flat pattern of a sheet metal-part that I've used in an assembly. In this assembly I've made cut-outs in some of the parts (see attached .png). Is it possible to get at flat pattern of the specific parts with the cutouts? I can e-mail a ZIP-file with the assembly (the file was too large too attach).
Running Inventor professional 2013
I am using this code placed in the .ipt file to change Sheet Metal material
If Material_SM=1 TheniProperties.Material="Steel"SheetMetal.SetActiveStyle("RB_Mild Steel")ElseiProperties.Material="AISI316"SheetMetal.SetActiveStyle("RB_Stainless")End If
It works fine presuming code placed in every .ipt file to be ruled.
Is it possible to modify code in a way so when it placed in top assebly it runs through entire assembly finds all Sheet Metal parts and applys Material prpperties/Sheet metal style according Material_SM parameter.

Is this a documented problem , and a hotfix is forthcoming or is this just me and something local to my installation. Normally my install is very stable.

I had a quick play but couldn't work it out. Im used to creating the finished part and 'un-folding' to get the flat pattern.Detail supplied below.

I have an assembly with a couple of parts in. Some of these parts are IParts (NOT Content Centre parts), and they live in my project workspace.
In some case I am able (within the assembly) to right click on the table icon below the part in the assembly tree and change the component to a different configuration. However, I other case I am not able to change.
In the cases where I cannot change, when I right click, IV does not even present the option to "change component".
I am not sure if this will affect the situation or not, but some of the parts were inserted into the assembly as IParts, whereas others were not IParts, but I changes them to IParts after they were inserted into the assembly. I am not sure which ones were inserted as IParts and which weren't, but perhaps this is an issue. i.e. parts that were inserted as IParts originally can be changed, but those that were not IParts when inserted and later converted cannot be changed?
I created a inventor part by name "011-03-054-A-25x50 HS" 100mm in length. Used "011-03-054-A-25x50 HS" in a assembly and used the same part in another assembly. Then I created a ipart with a different length which is 250mm. Now I want to use 250mm length in the second assembly. How do I doit? I couldn't find an answer any where. I am using Autodesk Inventor 2013 in windows 7.
This was called configrations in Solidworks and was very easy to use.
Subject: Inventor placing Iparts in Assembly (Autodesk Inventor 2010)
Problem:
When placing an Ipart into a project Assembly it will make a copy of that variant and place it in the same map as the Ipart.
So when variant B of Ipart A is selected it will make a copy of variant B in the same folder where Ipart A is located.
Question:
Is it possible to make a “save as” option or another similar manner to save those copies of variant B in a project map of a project assembly?
Instead of saving all the Ipart variants to a single folder. So each time a new project is started they have all the parts in the same folder.
Reason:
I am making a local library for parts that are used for repairs. These parts have many variants and some times need to be customized for a repair.
The current system keeps polluting itself causing the users to loose their parts and accidentally delete the original parts etc.
I contacted Autodesk support and theyrecommended to post this question on this forum. They did mentioned that vba programming could achieve this. I have no knowledge of this type of programming.
I've got a relatively simple assembly (attached) containing 3 iparts. I change the center component the assembly and I lose all the constraints. Only the length changes, I'm sure I did this before but yet it turns out to be an epic disaster.

I have a part that occurs nine times in an assembly. These were all the same parts before but now I need to make them table driven iParts in order to add a custom iProperty that changes to make them all different. They are all the same except for this on iProperty field that changes.I can create the iPart no problem. My questions are:
1.) Should I just open the part file and make it an iPart?
2.) Do I need to replace the files in the assembly somehow?
3.) I would assume that I can just edit the file to make it an iPart and then use some kind of "change component" right click to select which one goes where right?
4.) Is there some other workflow I should be using?
I have been working with macros basically making user forms to control the models. The program calls on a part that I use as an actuation template (its just a part with parameters that are then linked to the assembly contraints) then the macro will change the parameters and update the model.
What I need to do is to put in some code in the userforn initialize sub that gets the actuation template from the disk, for example: C:Other StuffActuation Template A.ipt. Then the macro places the part into the assembly. The userform then manipulates the actuation template (and the assembly model). Then when the userform is unloaded the part is deleted from the assembly.
In an assembly I'm working on, I need to place the same part multiple times, but I need this part to be a different scale each time. I'm working with Inventor 2010. Relatively new to the program.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use prompted entries in the title blocks in some sheets in my drawings. I then use iLogic to fill in the prompted entries. Is there a way to turn off the prompted entries box when I create a new sheet?
Is there something other than a prompted entry that is not linked to a file (drawing, part, or assembly) that can be placed in a title block and filled in with iLogic?
Basically I need to have 2 configurations of an assembly. These assemblies are identical except there is one part that will vary within them. Eventually I would like to be able to drive an assembly with multiple part configurations and suppressing and unsuppressing of parts from a table however this is my starting spot.

how to place part or assembly from the Vault or local Hard drive in to the existing assembly?
Basically I do have a list of parts (wall panels different sizes etc...) I was going to create an iLogic form with drop downs, so engineer can choose wall panel assemblies he needs and qty`s. iLogic will pull these assemblies from the vault/HDD in to the existing assembly. Currently we have to go to so many different folders to pick them up.
I'm new in iLogic. I started making an assembly where it has a form where I put the dimension and iLogic controls the subparts including a frame generated profiles (in this case, iassembly don't work with FG).<br><br>The problem is: In the Larger assembly, I also put an iLogic and a form where I want this sub assemblies (this is the assembly mentioned above) to be driven by the parameters I will input on this large assembly. I don't know how to handle this but what I want is to:<br><br>1. I need that when I place this sub assembly there will be a form that will popup during the placement like when I put a bolt on content center.<br>2. Save as a new number and when the set of parameters exist on the previous large assembly it will notify that the sub assembly exist.<br><br>is this possible?
