I have a multibody part. The last command is a combine the toolbodies saved. (we want to use these in other parts) I have RMB on the bodies that I don't want exported and made sure they are not selected for export. But when I then export as an STL file, all the bodies are exported. Is there a way of exporting just one of the bodies to an STL file? I assume the Export object mentioned when RMB the bodies is for exporting to derived parts.
I'm trying to export just one body so that we can 3D print it, but because all the bodies are exported the resulting file has overlapping bodies, which the printer doesn't like.
So, again, Is there a way of exporting just one of the bodies to an STL file?
PS, Yes I'm still on 2010. We have been told we wil be upgrading soon. How long is soon? IV 2010
I am trying to export an idw to pdf and i get the error message "HGPMinchoE". I uninstalled inventor and reinstalled, but did not fix error. I am using Inventor Professional 2014.
I create idw which contain between 70 and 150 sheets. I would like to export them to dwf, but Inventor will sometimes just hang. I have let it run overnight and it still just sits there. It doesn’t' use up memory or CPU it just stops.
I can sometimes break them into chunks of 20 sheets at a time, but sometimes even then it will hang. We have the same issue on multiple computers and different drawings. I don’t select 3d export just the 2D Is this a known issue... are there some limitations on dwf size?
We are looking for a way to export BOM's without having to open individual IDW's.
We were unable to find such a function in either Inventor or Vault Workgroup. We have found customized function for export but each file has to be opened. Is there such a function available that we might have missed or third party?
We are currently working with 2011 versions of Inventor and Vault Workgroup, soon to be migrated to 2013.
I have a frame that we have designed and detailed using Inventor and Frame Generator. The steel fabricator is asking for a CIS/2 model file to use with their Fabrication/Management software. I have done a search of this forum and found two posts asking about this format (from 2004 & 2009) but neither have any responses.
It does not appear that IV will export this information natively so I am looking for some kind of work-flow to get them this information using AD products. Any resellers out there familiar with a product/translator?

I have a 3D part that produced from an assembly document. (pic.1). How can I take the coordinates of the curve that is designed on the right surface (pic.2) in a .txt or better .xls file ?
I often use Inventor to generate 2D views of things for AutoCAD. Once I get the view into AutoCAD, I want to copy the outline, make a polyline of it, decurve it and make a wipe out of that.
This is all well and good until Inventor exports an ellipse in the drawing. They can't be converted to a polyline. So, is there some way to force Inventor to export them as some other entity type or is there a way to convert them in AutoCAD that I'm not aware of? The only two things I've tried are flatten and explode and neither of them works.
I have problems with exporting a Inventor drawing to dwg autocad drawing, the message I get when a try is: Cannot open XML file: c:....Inventor 2014/InventorCustomization.xml.
In AutoCAD, when I want to create a 2D block representation, I used the flat shot command. Is there a workflow that will result in creating a 2D block for ACAD from an assembly in IV?
FYI, my customer would like a 2D block representation to insert into his ACAD prints. My assembly is very complex. I tried exporting to .dwg and then opening the file in ACAD and creating flatshots, but it bogged ACAD to a screeching halt.
This att. doc shows rule for exporting dxf out of drawing. It is working on one sheet just perfect. In multi sheets it save allways with same name. I want to choose from which sheet i need dxf but to be saved by sheet name or model properti name. Is that possible?
I found a issue that vba reads bom in different way when I tried to export bom to excel. here is the routie i am using for BOM. I am using inventor 2012 sp1, window 7 sp1 and excel 2007
1. create a assembly with bom structured view enabled.
2. open BOM editor in structured view tab. sort BOM by part number, and renumber them from 1,2,3....
3. save and exit.
4. in vba, i used code below
For Each oRow In oStructuredBOMView.BOMRows Set oDoc = oRow.ComponentDefinition(1).Document
On the export bom excel sheet, the item order is different from BOM in assembly file. on the excel sheet, the order of item number is same before sorting and renumber BOM. It seems to me that BOM editor didnt remember sorting and renumber.

How can I export an animation that I have created in Inventor Studio and Import into Showcase? I see that Showcase creates an *.fbx file when it imports my Inventor Assembly, but somehow the results I get are different every time I import.
After some time I discovered that "Verhalten" seems to contain the animation from Inventor, but there are always some parts missing in the animation where Showcase (2012) doesn´t recognize that there are other parts connected to that one moving part.
It´s all constrained in Inventor and behaves like it should either in the assembly and in the studio environment.
I have modeled this "low-poly" hand in 3d max. Here's how it looks with the "NURMS toggle" turned on. What I need is to somehow really turn it into NURBS, to be able to export it as IGES and then import into Inventor.
I want to save an idw drawing as a dwg but only sheet 3 of a 3 sheet set I found this snippet on the forum but cant get it to print only sheet three.
' Get the DWG translator Add-In. 'Dim DWGAddIn As TranslatorAddIn 'DWGAddIn = ThisApplication.ApplicationAddIns.ItemById("{C24E3AC4-122E-11D5-8E91-0010B541CD80}")
My question is about pdf files. All is ok when my drawing have only one sheet, but my problem occurs when my drawing have two or more sheets. In this case the pdf have only one sheet exported, impossible to export all my sheets (only the page on the screen is exported in pdf). Is it possible to exports all sheet in one time.
(Actually i must go to "Autodesk" -> "Create a copy" -> ".pdf" -> "Option" -> "All sheets" -> "Save" if çi want to get a pdf with all sheets)
I'm having an issue with exporting an Inventor 2012 .idw to AutoCAD DWG.I am trying to export a multi-sheet drawing to AutoCAD 2007 using the Model Space - Full Scale option.
IT seems like no matter what I try, it will only export the geometry from the first sheet. It creates the other 2 .dwg files (Sheet 2 and 3) but they are empty. The drawing set is comprised of a large plan view on sheet 1 and then a bunch of section views, originally cut on sheet 1 and then moved to the other sheets.
I tried using the other options "Sheet Scale - Model Space" which left me with some odd scale factor on the section views (completely different from the scale on the drawing) so, I can't use that. And "Base View Scale - Model Space" or "Layout" give me the same result as the 1:1 scale option... all 3 files, but 2 and 3 are empty.I tried .dxf and other AutoCAD versions with no change.
I have an iLogic rule that asks if I want to export a DXF (yes/no) every time I save an Inventor DWG. In some of our drawings we have pictures and those don't get included in the DXF export. Can DXFs handle pictures? How can I have it include the picture as well?
Can I export from IV 2013 directly to NX? I've seen several documents indicating there is some degree of "interoperability," but I don't see NX/UG/.prt as an export option. So, is NX import only?

I am working on iLogic models and have a sketch feature in a part that is used as a referance for a caulk bead. The sketch is in an IPT and is a stand alone feature. I am trying to have this sketch feature be visible in and IDW file of the product I am developing but cannot seem to find a solution. Is this even possible and if so what am I doing wrong?
I am doing it this way because the caulk bead spans the entire height of the part which can change via different custom parameters, therefore the caulk bead needs to be able to change with the part while not losing its sketch references.
In Inventor 2013 when i export face as it is automaticly exported to DWG 2013 version. How to i set it to 2010 version export without having to do it everytime manually? (option then chooose 2010)
I am trying to export a BOM form an assembly and there are sub-assemblies in the bom. I would like to export the BOM from those sub-assemblies also is there a way to do that?
What I am trying to do is create work orders so for instance; 711-100 has the part 810-100 as well as the assembly 800-100 in it. I would an exported BOM to list every thing that is in 711-100 (I can do this) and also list the BOM from 800-100.
I use parts of the snippets than ships with inventor, but I can not export the 2d and 3d in the same dwf.
Perhaps it might have something to do with that when I export a 2d file the traditional way only 2d gets exported to the dwf if i dont open the tab that lets you choose 2d and 3d model.
Even if i have the 3d model checked i have to open the tab to get both 2d and 3d, if i dont open the tab only 2d
