AutoCAD Inventor :: Refresh Content Center Pipe Fittings Error
Nov 3, 2011
I have created custom pipe fitting categories in my server based content center. I copied the standard familes over to a custom library and modified them. After updating the family tables, and hitting refresh in an assembly, the updates fail.
This is the error I get:
Failed: Standard is owned by Tube&Pipe. The part must be refreshed by Tube&Pipe application.
These parts were placed via "Place from content center" as I do not have the tube & pipe addin (2011 suite, not pro)
How do I get these compnonents to update / refresh??
I am trying to add some connection points to flanges that we have ion our Content Center. I am having difficulty. I can get it done if I re-author the flange from scratch, but not if I attempt to modify an existing part.
My workflow:
Get a custom fitting to my localEdit itRun the Tube and Pipe Autor toolAdd my additional connectionSaveFrom the content center editor run Replace Family Template on the original family
I have been using Inventor 2011 and I have noticed that I can’t restructure a content center part that is selected. I am saving content center parts as custom. Video
Step 1. place fittings from content center
step 2. select content center parts
step 3. (using keyboard) hit TAB key (this is the short cut command for creating an assembly in place)
step 4. notice that is didnt work
step 5. copy the contentcenter parts and paste in the same assembly
step 6. select the copyied parts not the orginals
stpep 7. (using keyboard) hit TAB key
Step 8. it worked name your assembly
The orginal content center parts are also not able to be restructred in the tree.
C3D 2013. I am trying to determine how do add additional content to the parts library.
I have explored the Content Catalog Editor and have been able to add new pipe materials, but it appears that the only way that I can import a part is with a .CONTENT file. Is there any documentation on how this file is supposed to be configured or created? Is there any documentation on the Content Catalog Editor in general? We need to be able to add new pipe, fittings, valves, appurtenances in order to make this new feature usable in a production environment.
I have authored a meter as an iPart before placing into Content Centre - it will be authored to be used in tube and pipe.
Some variants have Rc (ISO Taper Threads) ranging from ¼-2", and some have G (ISO Pipe Threads). The only way I could get it to change between the different thread types was to model threaded hole features, and change the thread spec in the iPart table. {I have included the part so you can see what I've done}
It works fine as an iPart, but after having placed it into content centre the following errors occur with the generated Parts: the threads fail, the holes do not compute (resulting in the failure of the authored Tube and Pipe work points and axes), also the bmp decal doesn't rotate properly.
I copied an existing family into my new read library. I added some rows to be able to generate a few variations that were not contained in the original family. I just copied existing row up several times and edited the information in those rows to yield desired new variations. I made sure the file name column contained a unique file name for these new members. When I go to publish I get this error message:
Defined file name does not include all custom columns. An identical file name can be generated for different members. Make sure that the file name is unique for any combination of custom column values to avoid placement failure
Missing Custom Columns:
Length
(see also attached screen shot)
I have scoured the file name column and can find no repeated file names; I cannot understand the rest of the error message. It must have something to do with the "does not include all custom values" portion of the error message.
I had Autodesk Inventor 2011 installed for a while, and then installed some other programs (3DS, Maya and Showcase). This caused all of my add-ins to disappear from Inventor. I managed to get them back, but now when I click the 'Insert Frame' button, I get the followin gerror: [WARNING] Problems encountered while executing frame insert command. [ERROR] Failed to read data from Content Center. [ERROR] Content Center server query failed. check your Content Center configuration to make sure all required libraries are present or check Content Center connectivity to server. I've reinstalled Inventor and reinstalled the content center libraries and the error message is still there. The content center configuration in Application Options seems fine.
I've visited C. Bliss's web site and downloaded the Sch 40 PVC Elbows by Tom Cross - but am in need of a much larger selection of fittings. Need traps, Y's, Tee's and sweeps.
I am trying to share an assembly with some design accelerators and content center files and it seems to be not possible. I changed the directory of the application>file>content center to the same location on both PC but it is still not working.
Everytime I try to place a #8 machine screw type II screw from the content center I get a Design Accelerator Doctor error saying: "Modeling: Failed to insert a part into assembly!".
But if I place a Type I machine screw it works fine. Also if I replace the Type I screw with the Type II (the one I have a problem with) it replaces it no problem. So basically if I want to place a #8 Type II screw I have to place a Type I and then replace it with the Type II..
I'm using Inventor 2014 with Service Pack 1 with Desktop Content Center enabled on a single machine. I've also installed Vault Basic 2014 on the same machine. Operating System is Windows 7 Professional.
I've edited my non-vaulted and vaulted project files to create a Custom Content Center Library called Zzyzx. I've started a new Assembly and entered the Content Center Editor to add files to the Zzyzx library. I've copied the Inventor ANSI fasteners section into the Zzyzx library, using the Copy To method with links enabled. So far, so good.
After copying the entire Inventor ANSI fasteners to the Zzyzx library, I created a new column called DESCRIPTION within the Heavy Hex Head Bolt - Inch series folder. Using and expression, I've modified the string values of the just created DESCRIPTION column. I've elected to map DESCRIPTION to the Project.Description iProperty. I use the OK button and each row in the new column gets populated. Update Lightning Bolts are displayed at the far left of the dialog box.
I then use either the Apply or OK button and then Inventor displays a Publish Error message box that states: Non-unique filename(s) found in members. I've checked the file names and I see nothing that's repeating. I've tried using a new file name, but that doesn't solve the issue. What steps must I take in order to successfully edit my Custom Content Library called Zzyzx?

I am trying to replace an unresolved standard part with a component from a custom content center in a stand-alone installation. I get this error message:
"There was a problem encountered while communicating with the server. Please check the network connection and server status."
I can place the same component from the content center. The content center component family was created as "save to" from an ANSI standard.
When opening one custom Content Center iPart from Inventor I get an Styles Conflict error for some Lights, Materials and Sheet Metal rules.
The Library is created in Inventor 2010 and migrated to 2012. All templates an Design Data are migrated as well. How are these styles are updated in a certain Part?
I recently did a pack and go on a top level assembly. Kept folder hierarchy. Included linked files. Included referenced files. All OK so far.
Then opened the assembly in the “Pack and go” folder I created to put it, and it cannot find all the content center parts, such as the ASME eccentric reducer and M24 bolt – see attached i.e. I had to resolve the links. I know they came over with the pack and go as they are in the “Libraries” folder.
When I create a new pressure network in 2014 - I have only Tees & Elbows available - Where are crosses? I need a 4-way cross at an intersection, C3D seems to include just the other two types I listed.
I am currently freelancing for my current boss and have a question regarding dynamic blocks. We deal in water and waste water drawings, so I deal with pipe fittings and such. Right now the other guy working with us (former coworker also) has blocks for each and every fitting.. So the block library is big..
I would like to reduce the size drastically and think dynamic blocks can work with that.
So basically, to start with, I attached a dwg of a 3" blank flange (which is the end of the pipe basically)..we have these blocks going all the way up to 24"..seeing how its just the size that changes, i would like to create a dynamic block that will do this for me by just selecting the size i need.
Problem: I forgot how to work with dynamic blocks!!
This is just a simple flange block that i want to start with, than once i get this down and learn about them i will update the rest (bends, reducers, tees, etc)
Also, I am using 2012 release..what release did dynamic blocks come out in?
I am currently using C3D 2013 for pressure pipes. how to rotate a TEE with the branch pointing down in plan? Currently the TEE will come in with the branch pointing only horizontal in plan.
The default parts catalog is a good start, but for production watermain design, it is lacking. How do I add new fittings and appurtenances to the content catalog? I know how to add/modify existing pipe/fittings properties, but there does not appear to be a way to add new fitting models.
How do I model (or calculate) the fewest welds/fittings required to change angle and elevation in a pipe run, as shown in Option1 below.
For this example the constants are: 8" standard steel pipe, one of the fittings is a standard butt weld 45 (12" radius), bend angle is 70 degrees, and the elevation change is 9". The custom fitting is cut from a standard 8" long radius 90.
Note: Option2 is just shown for reference, I'm only interested in solving Option1
I used to use the BSI content fine in my old version of Inventor, but on this years version there appears to be no BSI content. I have tried reinstalling the content center and all of the options are selected but still no BSI?
I'm using a student version of inventor 2013, and i'm trying using the content center for add bolts at my project, but all the components are unable for my use, because everything are marked as read only.
How can i do for use these components? and other question, how can i create account at vault?
We have an extensive library of parts that we consistently utilize, but we do use Content Center for hardware and routed systems components.
All of our library parts have our company ERP's item number in the stock number iProperty, and the ERP's description in the Comments iProperty.
For CC items, we have added columns for these and mapped them to the appropriate iProperty.
Everything works great except for one thing.
Many of our ERP descriptions inlude inch marks, foot marks, and the & symbol. For our normal library parts thhis is not an issue. However, CC items utilize these characters differently. The result is our descriptions come out different that what is entered.
See the example below...
How to include these characters in the CC descriptions?
At my company we currently have a huge number of Autocad deployments for 2010,2011,2012. Right now our deployments weren't setup to include the content centers. I have installed 2012 Inventor on my personal computer as a trial version to grab the .idcl files. I was wondering if I would be able to just drag and drop these onto a server and have my co-workers point to the file location within inventor itself via options>content center>etc.
Two computers with Inventor Pro 2011 on them, same set up in Apllication Options/Content Center and Apllication Options/File. On one Inventor sees Content Center on the other does not. What could be the problem?
Installed 2014 recently, and now my Content Center has nothing in it. The "Place from Content Center" window loads, and there are no folders. My item count is 0. I've attached a screen shot for reference. Clicking the refresh button does nothing.
We have no custum hardware/materials/etc.
If I try to update the content center library (step 2), the Configure Libraries is full of "Not Available"s. Again, I've attached a screen shot. I'm nervous to continue migrating with out all that info.
There are two pc's with IV, and the content center is working fine on the other pc. The CC is a local thing, and only my computer seems to be upset.
I just created an empty Fastenal Library, and it is set to Read/Write. We order most of our fasteners from them, but not much else, so I used "Copy Category Structure To" Fastenal. I created a plain washer to add to the library, but when I try to publish it, I can't get it to work.
When I "Publish Part," I select Fastenal and English, then am asked to select a category to publish to. The Washers folder is greyed out, along with most other folders, but the Ball sub folder is not. I can't select Plain, which is what I need, but I can select Ball.
Also, is there a way to delete sub folders? I right click on Pins or Rivets, and the option to Delete Category is greyed out.
