May 31, 2013"Find" command gives me a dialogue box. Then everything falls apart.(program stops). Have not found any samples except VBA and lisp files. I want to use only "script" files.

Aug 18, 2008I have multiple cad drawings (300 *dwg's)that need some items changed, is there a way to seach multiple cad drawing in my project for specific instances of text in each drawing?
Do the drawings have to be open? Can you seach just thru the project with out opening each drawing, how does this work?!

Sep 16, 2002I am trying to globally find and replace text in Autocad 2000 drawings. If I have a folder containing 10 Autocad files, I want to open every file in that folder, while in each file, search for a certain line of text and replace that text, then close that file, open the next and find/replace text in that file.
I've created an autolisp file that allows me to open all the files in a certain folder, but I can't find any way, either thru autolisp or scripts, to allow me to find and replace text in each autocad drawing without using Autocad's "find" command to manually enter the text when each drawing is open.
I want to setup the autolisp file to accept input up front, save the "old text" and "new text" to variables, then use those variables as the lisp routine is running.
This version was used to automate creating PDF files. The command 'PDF' is a command from another Lisp file.

Jun 8, 2012We received a drawing in which every single block has been exploded, they are just a bunch of polylines now. The company we received it from says they don't have a drawing with the original blocks...sure... The long and the short of it is that we need to replace every exploded block with our standard blocks. Is there some crazy way to search and replace a pattern of lines or basically, search and replace the exploded blocks. A lisp routine, anything. There are thousands of exploded blocks by the way, thousands.

Jul 25, 2013I am brand new to Inventor and I am being given the seemingly simple task of finding the tooling files that needs to be checked for correction on account of parts manufactured out of tolerance. The plotted drawings I'm given has text on in that can find the files, but the drawings are huge. Is there a way to find text like I've been doing when given the similar task in Autocad? I see no edit menu in Inventor.

A search and replace for this corrects this fast and accurately in version X4, but now in X5 nothing happens. If I change the search to some word, it finds it instantly, but not any quotation marks.

Mar 6, 2013Lightroom 4.2 – the situation is this, I have a number of pictures of group shots with many people. I tag each person in each photo. I show my photos to these people and they would like a print of photos with them in it. I am an amature photographer currently located in India where most people have no cameras, so I normally oblige if someone wants my of them pictures printed. On one such occasion I took a week long trip with some friends.After showing them the pictures I tagged “Print for Raju”, “Print for Priya”, “Print for Varun”. The problem arises now when I try to search keywords in the “contains all” section, “print for varun” doesn’t do an exact search. Rather if Raju wanted a picture of Varun printed, that picture would have the tag “Varun” and “print for Raju” and which would make the photo included in my search “print for varun” even if varun doesn’t want the picture.
Is there a way to search EXACTLY what I type? If my picture has 15 tags, “contains all” will search all those tags and if it can piece together the three words I am searching for out of all of the tags, it will reveal results inconsistent with my desires.I realize now that I could use collections instead of tags for compiling pictures to print for people.

Feb 16, 2012I have been given a set of drawings (300+) and I need to find where and/or if certain blocks (and other objects) are used in these drawings. Is there a utility program or does AutoCAD have the ability to search a group of drawings for a block (by name) and return a list of all the drawings where the block is found.
On that same topic, is there a utility program that will export all the CAD data from a list of drawings to a .csv file or even excel so I can filter and search several drawings for layers, blocks, xrefs etc.

May 13, 2010I have to revup a heap of drawings by modifying the drawing block of each drawing (simplying changing Rev C to a different letter ) and adding in todays date. Is there a quick way i can modify all drawing blocks without opening and modifying each drawing manually? Unfortunately, the drawings are all standalone and dont reference an external drawing block.

I almost create “text” in every part drawing in different view. I have to create a sketch first, than create a text and dimension the text so I can lock the text in position, otherwise when you move the view and the text will stay in different location.
I had been used “Solid works” for long times. When I need to create a text, just click that view and create a text and the text will stay with that view, whatever you move that view and the text move together.

Jan 30, 2012I frequently use tolerance and fits when modelling and retreive them to use them in drawings. The text on these dimensions is always horizontal . Any time I have vertical dimension on drawings (e.g. several diameters in a stepped bore) the horizontal text takes up way too much real estate. e.g. 18.0000 g6 (17.999 17.998)
I would like to align the text to the dimension lines (i.e. text vertical in this case) In Properties Rotate is greyed out. Is there a way to keep my retrieved dims and have them aligned with the dim lines in the drawing?

Feb 2, 2012Basically we have a number of different procedures that need to be written in each drawing. Each drawing uses one of 5 or so procedures. Usually we type it out every time which is a pain or copy paste. We also tried making word documents and inserting them that way but it got a little buggy. Is there any way to have 5 or so pre made text blocks to pick which to insert onto different types of drawings but that can be global used across a few systems?
We have a small group of workers all on the vault server. Basically I just want to be able to have a finished drawing. Click something that will open a list of my pre made text blocks, and insert one into the drawing that I can scale etc. We use Inventor 2011.

Oct 19, 2009I am new to VBA for Autocad and have basic knowledge of Autocad, but have experience with VBA with EXCEL. I am trying to search for text written on to a drawing that has been written as plain text. There is no table. I am writing code to open each drawing in the file as a for each next loop and then find text, then copy text to a table cell, in a table set up within the loop statement. Then I intend to transfer the data to Excel. When I copy the text into the cells of the table and transfer to Excel, the text does not transfer. Is there something I need to do to re-format the text copied straight from the drawing into the table cell. The drawngs have been produced by some external drafting service provider, most likely in India. The functionality of Autocad has not been used and therefore, there are no tables. The text titles, sub-titles etc... are just basically text with lines drawn around them, to simulate a table that looks like a table but are infact not.
My main problem is copying the plain text (titles, sub-titles, references etc...) into a table cell for export to Excel. Any knowledge of copying Autocad plain text to Autocad table cells

On all my pictures each person is tagged. For my mother the Person Tag is called "mother"
I created a saved search with the criteria Person include "mother". The problem now is that also pictures are shown with my mother and other persons. But i would like only pictures from my mother without other persons. Something like... "Person is mother and not person "sister" and not person "friends" etc.
Lightroom :: Library Search Filters Criteria Randomizes When Toggling Search On And Off
Aug 15, 2013I'm using Lightroom 5.2RC. Not sure if this started happening with the 5.2RC version or if it's been an issue for a while.
While in Library mode, when I choose a library search filter preset, say all 5 stars, and then toggle the filter off and on again, the search criteria randomizes to something wildly different than what I was just searching for, for example, adding text and metadata to the search queries when I only had star attributes selected a few seconds before.
I've experimented with turning the filter lock icon on and off and that seems to have no effect. Switching between folders in my catalog and toggling search off and on, results in the same random search criteria being generated.

Aug 2, 2012I have a drawing with numerous text fields that I'd like to replace. For example, there are 30 different text fields showing a dimension of 19.298". I need to replace all of them so that they show 19.125" instead. Is there a quick way to swap out the text without having to do it one field at a time? Feb 23, 2012i have a csv file that has 6 columns, PNEZD and a 6th column which is my notes..i type a star in the data collector after my code, make my note, and then find/replace after i export it and replace star with a column..that gives the desired 6th column in excel that my boss wants....problem is he also wants to see that next to the Full Description in Civil 3d 2012...i tried adding a Point File Format with a 6th Column, User Defined, String for type...named the column Notes...but if i go to edit the point there is no 6th column in the Tool Palette.
