AutoCAD Inventor :: Deleting Views Created With DWG

Oct 5, 2011

We recently started using Inventor DWG files (shifting away from IDW).

Part of the process for one of our programmers is to open a DWG file using AutoCAD Mechanical 2012, delete all unused dimensions and views, and use the remaining view to program his CNC machine. We are finding that this is not possible to do with the new format Inventor DWG files, as the views are not able to be selected.

What is the AutoCAD 2012 procedure for deleting views created with Inventor DWG?

AutoCAD 2013 :: How To Create Multiple Views Of Same Part Separated From Other Base Views

Apr 3, 2013

I am trying to create a second base view (using Layout/Create View/Base from model space). The problem is, I need it to be rotated from the original base view. However, when I rotate the part in model space, ALL of my views change.

So I guess my question is, how do I create multiple views of the same part that are seperate from the other base views?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Deleting Features Using ILogic

Aug 2, 2012

I am working on a standard part that has different configurations depending on user inputs into a GUI. Once the user enters all the required parameters, the part is in its final form with all unnecessary features suppressed. I am looking for a way to automate the delete of the suppressed features using a rule and i Logic before the user saves the file.

The main reason for doing this is to reduce the file size of the part once it is saved because this same template will be used for hundreds of parts and I don't want to waste unnecessary storage space on suppressed features.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Deleting Coincident Constraint

Aug 15, 2008

I have noticed what I consider a bug in AI2009. When trying to delete a coincident constraint using the show constraint command, it is impossible to do so. All other constraints I can delete while I am in the "show constraints" dialog box, but not coincident constraints. As soon as I get out of the "Show constraints" command, the yellow dots are still showing and I can then hover over them and they highlight so I can delete them. Is this how it was intended or should I be able to delete them like the others while still in the "show constraints" command?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Deleting Pattern Constraints

Jun 2, 2009

I have some geometries that are patterned in a sketch. Turns out that i don't want a pattern anymore but i have a load of stuff that is dependent on some of the patterned lines. So i show all constraints and you can see the little rectangular pattern constraint icon. but you can't delete it like you can with other constraints.

The reasoning behind this is logical, but surely i should be able to break the link of a pattern and then re constrain the geometries how i see fit, that way i maintain all of my associations and my other features won't fail due to a lost link. See attached pic, i want to change one of the vertical lines so it now sits at an angle.

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Get IDW Views To Name Themselves

Jan 19, 2012

How could I get the idw views to name themselves? Instead of  ” view 1”,  “view2” why not have it name itself the file name,  the same goes for a parts-list added to idw sheets? When slow clicking them to rename they already have the file name referencing the view or parts list. I have multiple views and multiple parts list on many sheets. Re-naming them is starting to get old!

I took a quick look at “ILOGIC” because that’s my “ILOGIC” speed and nothing jumped out at me.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Drawing Dimensions Deleting Upon Print To PDF?

Oct 24, 2013

One of the drafters I work with has been having an intermittent problem with Inventor 14 deleting dimensions and notes when he prints a .idw to a .pdf. The problem first popped up when we transitioned to 14 from 12. It only happens once out of every 2 dozen or so prints and is usually caught on the redlines, but it has been overlooked once already requiring the part to be remachined at cost to our employer. No one else in our office has had the problem and it continued to happen after a reinstall; which leads me to think it's some hardware issue.

Included is a screenshot of his system information. We're running Synergis Adept file management software, that may be pertinent as well.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Deleting Work Points In 3D Sketch

Apr 13, 2012

I am using Inventor Professional 2011.

I have a series of points that I've placed along a sloped line in a 3D Sketch.  However, if I delete one of the points, all the points that have been created are erased as well.  I found a way to get around it (remove the constraints of the point I'm trying to delete and then delete the point).  However, if I want to delete multiple points, the solution I have would take up some time.

I don't want to create a rectangular pattern in a 2D sketch because, when the line changes slope, the pattern doesn't seem to recognize the new slope direction and the points appear offset from the new sloped line.

Is there a way I can get create some semblance of a pattern in 3D sketch and also have the ability to delete individual points within a series of created points?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Section Views

Nov 23, 2012

So I am trying to create section views that detail the correct assembly of two parts.

These parts are welded on top of each other so its important to have clear understanding of how they fit together.

So imagine a pipe bent in the shape of a circle, in the horizontal plane, then holes drilled into the top (vertically) and then another pipe fitting in the holes and being welded together. This is what is happening.

So I am trying to create a section view of one of the holes with the welding information.

When I go to create the section view, I draw a line that would pass through the center of the large horizontal circle (but doesnt) and the center of the hole I am trying to detail and through to the outside of the horizontal pipe.

Now with this line I should get a view of the assembly exactly perpendicular to the line from that point. This is what is called "Aligned" in Inventor and what I was taught as a "Section View". However, this is not the case at all. I get what is called a projected section view.

find a way to get an "Aligned" view of this without sectioning the entire assembly. I just want the small bit necessary to show the relevant information.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Line Up Views

Oct 16, 2013

Let's say I have a flat pattern view of my part and the bended top view of the same part on the same drawing and I want both of the left side of each to be in line. (The right side shortends after the bends occur but the left side is not changed at all)

Work around:

1. Export to autocad and line them up with the osnaps, etc

I know how to sketch per view and project geometry but thats still on each view and when I try to line them up I am using my eye. Is there a better way to line both up even though their on different views?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Overlaying Two Views

Feb 12, 2013

oBaseView = osheet.DrawingViews.AddBaseView(otargetDoc, oPoint1, DrawingViewScale, kFrontViewOrientation, kHiddenLineDrawingViewStyle, "Default")oDraftView = osheet.DrawingViews.AddAssociativeDraftView(otargetDoc, oPoint1, DrawingViewScale)

I have one base view and one draft view created all at point1 with the same scale. It seems to me the base view's center is at point1. But not that of the draft view.

Just wondering how to overlay them to looks like one view with the same origin point. Or what coordinate I adjust, so I can draw on draft view, but looks like I was drawing on the base view?

Some additional lines are needed in drawing but can't get from projection of a model.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Break Sketch Pattern Without Deleting Elements?

Oct 13, 2011

Is there anyway to break a sketched pattern without deleting all the elements?  CATIA has this feature where you can pattern something, then break the relationship of this pattern so you can edit the components as individuals.  It seems the only option in Inventor is to delete the pattern or suppress individual components.   I just want to pattern a line equally spaced 20 times then trim those lines to a bisecting one.  Its annoying to have to draw and constrain all the lines to create a pattern

AutoCAD Inventor :: Deleting IFeature Leaves Reference Parameters?

Jan 11, 2012

When a table driven i-feature is placed in a part the parameters are reference. I believe that is how it has always been.Although, to my recollection in versions previous to 2010 when an i-feature was deleted the sketch was maintained and the parameters then became model parameters.

To test this I created a table driven i-feature from scratch to make sure it was not a migration issue.

I have include a screen shot of the deleted i-feature and the result of the parameters is shown. Verify that prior to 2010 the parameters became model parameters or did they stay reference?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Prevent / Block Obsolete Part From Being Used Without Deleting It

Mar 7, 2012

We are using basic Vault and have some parts that are obsolete or duplicates.  We don't currently have the resources to completely replace/purge them in all the assemblies (many of which are old desgns that may never be built again) in which they are used.

Our problem is that engineers keep using these parts in new assemblies and it doesn't get caught until the assemblies are ready to be ordered.  Then the assemblies have to be updated, vendors contacted, etc. to correct the situation.

Is there a way to block a part from being used in the first place without deleting it?  Or some way to alert the engineer that they are using the wrong part?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Deleting Custom Table And Entering Values

Nov 2, 2011

I need to insert a table on one of my Inventor drawings, however, it will vary in size (Fixed colums, variable number of rows). I have searched the forum and found this snippet of code to add a 2x20 table.

Sub Main()Dim oDrawDoc As DrawingDocumentoDrawDoc = ThisApplication.ActiveDocumentDim oSheet As SheetoSheet = oDrawDoc.ActiveSheet' Set the column titlesDim oTitles() As String = {"Member","Pos. From Datum A"}Dim oPoint As Point2doPoint = ThisApplication.TransientGeometry.CreatePoint2d(1, 28.7)' Create the custom tableDim oCustomTable As CustomTableoCustomTable = oSheet.CustomTables.Add("Infill Spacing", oPoint, 2, 20, oTitles)End Sub

The Problem

I now need to be able to do two things:

1. Delete all custom tables that may be on the drawing ( I may have more than 1 custom table on the drawing)

2. Access the individual rows and colums in a specific table so I can write a variable into them.

I have searched high and low for the API commands, but cant seem to find them.
